It is proposed that there are more than 10 million infected individuals in Pakistan. Keeping in mind the scenario, one should expect to have proper surveillance system for HCV monitoring across the country not only for high risk groups but also for general population as well. Monitoring the general population is of considerable help to identify the hot spots for infection spread and will help in designing effective strategies. In this study the current available data from last 6 years is analyzed. The results showed that the range of HCV seroprevalence in general population in Pakistan varied from 3.13%-23.83%. Similarly year wise HCV prevalence showed great variation and the prevalence was 9.57%, 6.04%, 7.46%, 4.9% and 11.04% in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively. The current analysis declared that available data is not sufficient and is not presenting the original picture of the situation. On these basis, a proper surveillance system is proposed across the country to get an actual picture of the infection for better management in future and massive community education programmes should be warranted in identified hot spots across the country.展开更多

Ignored curriculum not only in the design but also should be considered at the implementation level. The present study examined the experiences of teachers in general education from ignored curriculum in higher education and this study was done by qualitative research and its approach was interpretive phenomenology. In this regard, semi-structured interviews were conducted with twenty-six teachers of general education courses and the data obtained from these interviews were analyzed by using phenomenology of Smith. Three major themes from ignored curriculum, were found from the experience of teachers including 1) lack of attention to requirements which consists of three sub-categories: in attention to the needs of the learner, the needs and demands of everyday life and the needs of experts;2) lack of attention to content;3) run into problems involving the four sub-problems of teaching, evaluation time, space and assessment. The teachers during the training and implementing courses have gained a lot of experience from the ignored curriculum that had impact on their perception. Planners are familiar with academics experiences and identify ignored curriculum of general education courses and emphasized on how they understand the main goals of general education courses and made it meaningful and they had a main role in eliminating the flaws of this course, and enhance the effectiveness of them. In summary, the results obtained from the study were that general education courses, do not address the needs of learners. These requirements include of three sub-categories: inattention to the needs of the learner, routine needs and professionals. Also, courses have less attention to content. And there are problems such as difficulties in teaching this lesson, time, space and evaluation.展开更多

Fourth grade pupils attending primary schools in Banska Bystrica were tested in the number of 433 pupils (220 boys and 213 girls). The following indicators of general physical performance were monitored: sit-and-reach, standing long jump, sit-ups, flexed arm hang, shuttle run 4 ×10 m, endurance shuttle run. Also basic somatic indicators such as body height, body weight and BM! were found out. 10-year-old boys achieve better level in five tests of general physical performance. The girls achieve statistically better level in one test. When comparing it with the previous researches in Slovakia, we noted a lower level of general physical performance but a higher level of indicators of physical development of boys and girls from Banska Bystrica. Used set of tests affects the whole range of general physical performance, and it is adequate to the temporal, spatial and material conditions of schools.展开更多
