By using surface effects(Auger electron spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,polar Kerr effect)and volume effects(magnetization,torque curve)the physical process of surface oxidation of rare earth-transition ...By using surface effects(Auger electron spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,polar Kerr effect)and volume effects(magnetization,torque curve)the physical process of surface oxidation of rare earth-transition metal amorphous magneto-optical thin films was studied in this paper.The rare earth elements oxidize preferentially and rich at the film surface,and the transition metals deplete in oxidation layer.Fe_2O_3 in the surface oxidation layer contributes to the planar magnetization,and thereby the anomalous peak appears near 180° on the torque curves and the amplitude of the peaks is related to the depth of surface oxidation layers.The iron bonds to oxygen easier than the cobolt.RE-Co magneto-optieal thin films have good properties of resistance to oxidation and humidity.展开更多
This paper presents a new Hard-Input Hard-Output (HIHO) iterative decoding algorithm for Turbo Product Codes (TPC), and especially describes the BCH-TPC codes aiming to alleviate error propagation and lower error floo...This paper presents a new Hard-Input Hard-Output (HIHO) iterative decoding algorithm for Turbo Product Codes (TPC), and especially describes the BCH-TPC codes aiming to alleviate error propagation and lower error floor. This algorithm mainly emp hasizes a decision mechanism for bit-flips, which thoroughly evaluates four different aspects of the decoding process, properly weighs and combines their respective reliability measures, and then employs the combined measure to make a judgment with regard to whether any particular bit should be flipped or not. Simulations result in a very steep Bit Error Rate (BER) curve indicating that a high-level net coding gain can be expected with a reasonable complexity. The simplicity and effectiveness of this HIHO decoding algorithm makes it a p romising candidate for the application in future high-speed fiber optical communications.展开更多

GaAs-based nanowire(NW)lasers working in the infrared region is critical in integrated optoelectronics.In the past few decades,the field of NW lasers has developed rapidly.Compared with materials working in the ultrav...GaAs-based nanowire(NW)lasers working in the infrared region is critical in integrated optoelectronics.In the past few decades,the field of NW lasers has developed rapidly.Compared with materials working in the ultraviolet and visible ranges,GaAs-based infrared NW lasers,however,are more difficult to achieve because of their specific properties.In this review,we focus on the recent developments of GaAs-based NWs,more especially,the optical property and lasing of GaAs-based NWs.The growth mechanism of GaAs NWs is introduced in detail,including the crystal phase control and the growth of complex structures.Subsequently,the influence and improvement of the optical properties of GaAsbased NWs are introduced and discussed.Finally,the design and latest progress of GaAs-based NW lasers are put forward.展开更多
