Huff-n-puff by water has been conducted to enhance oil recovery after hydraulic fracturing in tight/shale oil reservoirs. However, the mechanisms and capacity are still unclear, which significantly limits the application of this technique. In order to figure out the mechanisms, the whole process of pressurizing,high-pressure soaking, and depressurizing was firstly discussed, and a mechanistic model was established.Subsequently, the simulation model was verified and employed to investigate the significances of high-pressure soaking, the contributions of different mechanisms, and the sensitivity analysis in different scenarios. The results show that high-pressure soaking plays an essential role in oil production by both imbibition and elasticity after hydraulic fracturing. The contribution of imbibition increases as the increase in bottom hole pressure(BHP),interfacial tension, and specific surface area, but slightly decreases as the oil viscosity increases. In addition,it first decreases and then slightly increases with the increase in matrix permeability. The optimal soaking time is linear with the increases of both oil viscosity and BHP and logarithmically declines with the increase in matrix permeability and specific surface area. Moreover,it shows a rising tendency as the interficial tension(IFT)increases.Overall,a general model was achieved to calculate the optimal soaking time. 展开更多

Field evidence indicates that proppant distribution and threshold pressure gradient have great impacts on well productivity.Aiming at the development of unconventional oil reservoirs in Triassic Chang-7 Unit,Ordos Basin of China,we presented an integrated workflow to investigate how(1)proppant placement in induced fracture and(2)non-linear flow in reservoir matrix would affect well productivity and fluid flow in the reservoir.Compared with our research before(Yue et al.,2020),here we extended this study into the development of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells(MFHWs)with large-scale complicated fracture geometry. The integrated workflow is based on the finite element method and consists of simulation models for proppant-laden fluid flow, fracture flow, and non-linear seepage flow, respectively.Simulation results indicate that the distribution of proppant inside the induced cracks significantly affects the productivity of the MFHW.When we assign an idealized proppant distribution instead of the real distribution, there will be an overestimation of 44.98%in daily oil rate and 30.63%in cumulative oil production after continuous development of 1000 days.Besides, threshold pressure gradient(TPG)also significantly affects the well performance in tight oil reservoirs. If we simply apply linear Darcy’s law to the reservoir matrix, the overall cumulative oil production can be overrated by 77%after 1000 days of development. In general, this research provides new insights into the development of tight oil reservoirs with TPG and meanwhile reveals the significance of proppant distribution and non-linear fluid flow in the production scenario design. 展开更多

Slickwater fracturing fluids have gained widespread application in the development of tight oil reservoirs. After the fracturing process, the active components present in slickwater can directly induce spontaneous imbibition within the reservoir. Several variables influence the eventual recovery rate within this procedure, including slickwater composition, formation temperature, degree of reservoir fracture development, and the reservoir characteristics. Nonetheless, the underlying mechanisms governing these influences remain relatively understudied. In this investigation, using the Chang-7 block of the Changqing Oilfield as the study site, we employ EM-30 slickwater fracturing fluid to explore the effects of the drag-reducing agent concentration, imbibition temperature, core permeability, and core fracture development on spontaneous imbibition. An elevated drag-reducing agent concentration is observed to diminish the degree of medium and small pore utilization. Furthermore, higher temperatures and an augmented permeability enhance the fluid flow properties, thereby contributing to an increased utilization rate across all pore sizes. Reduced fracture development results in a lower fluid utilization across diverse pore types. This study deepens our understanding of the pivotal factors affecting spontaneous imbibition in tight reservoirs following fracturing. The findings act as theoretical, technical, and scientific foundations for optimizing fracturing strategies in tight oil reservoir transformations. 展开更多

Tight oil reservoirs in the south Ordos Basin are characterized by fractured, heterogeneous oil-bearing strata(an oil saturation of less than 55%on average),normal pressure(0.8±)and extra-low permeability(less than 0.3 mD).In the Chang 8 tight sandstone reservoir in Honghe oilfield,micro-and nanopores, especially those with a pore-throat radius of less than 1 mm,account for more than 90%.Fluid flow in the matrix is non-linear and crude oil flow rates are very low under normal pressure gradients. An improved understanding of oil mobility in a tight matrix is key to further development of normalpressure tight-oil resources in the continental basin. In this study,constant-velocity and high-pressure mercury injection experiments were conducted using samples of typical tight sandstone cores obtained from the south of Ordos Basin.A new method for reconstructing the full-scale pore-throat distribution characteristics of tight sandstone reservoirs was established successfully, based on which multistage centrifugal tests, tests of low-pressure differential displacement of oil by water, and nuclear magnetic resonance tests were conducted in order to obtain the distribution characteristics of moveable fluid in different pores. The moveable oil saturation(MOS)and degree of oil recovery(i.e.ratio of accumulative oil production to producing geologic reserves)of the core samples under different differential pressures for displacement were determined. As for the tight oil reservoirs in the south Ordos Basin, the moveable fluids are mainly stored in sub-micron(0.10-0.5 mm)pores. For Type I reservoirs(k>0.1 mD),the volume percentage of moveable fluid in pores with a radius larger than 0.5 mm is relatively high(greater than 40%).The degree of oil recovery of water flooding serves as the basis for forecasting recoverable reserves for tight oil reservoirs.Recoverable reserves under water flooding, mainly occur in pores with a radius greater than 0.5 mm.The contribution of Type I reserves to oil production is observed to be greater than 60%,and the degree of oil recovery reaches up to 17.1%.These results help improve our understanding on the evaluation and classification of Chang 8 tight sandstone reservoirs in Honghe oilfield and serve as theoretical basis for pilot tests to explore effective injection media and development methods to improve the matrix-driven pressure differences and displacement efficiency for oil. 展开更多

Based on the geochemical, seismic, logging and drilling data, the Fuyu reservoirs of the Lower Cretaceous Quantou Formation in northern Songliao Basin are systematically studied in terms of the geological characteristics, the tight oil enrichment model and its major controlling factors.First, the Quantou Formation is overlaid by high-quality source rocks of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation, with the development of nose structure around sag and the broad and continuous distribution of sand bodies. The reservoirs are tight on the whole.Second, the configuration of multiple elements, such as high-quality source rocks, reservoir rocks, fault, overpressure and structure, controls the tight oil enrichment in the Fuyu reservoirs. The source-reservoir combination controls the tight oil distribution pattern. The pressure difference between source and reservoir drives the charging of tight oil.The fault-sandbody transport system determines the migration and accumulation of oil and gas.The positive structure is the favorable place for tight oil enrichment, and the fault-horst zone is the key part of syncline area for tight oil exploration.Third, based on the source-reservoir relationship, transport mode, accumulation dynamics and other elements, three tight oil enrichment models are recognized in the Fuyu reservoirs:(1)vertical or lateral migration of hydrocarbon from source rocks to adjacent reservoir rocks, that is,driven by overpressure, hydrocarbon generated is migrated vertically or laterally to and accumulates in the adjacent reservoir rocks;(2)transport of hydrocarbon through faults between separated source and reservoirs, that is,driven by overpressure, hydrocarbon migrates downward through faults to the sandbodies that are separated from the source rocks;and(3)migration of hydrocarbon through faults and sandbodies between separated source and reservoirs, that is,driven by overpressure, hydrocarbon migrates downwards through faults to the reservoir rocks that are separated from the source rocks, and then migrates laterally through sandbodies.Fourth, the differences in oil source conditions, charging drive, fault distribution, sandbody and reservoir physical properties cause the differential enrichment of tight oil in the Fuyu reservoirs.Comprehensive analysis suggests that the Fuyu reservoir in the Qijia-Gulong Sag has good conditions for tight oil enrichment and has been less explored, and it is an important new zone for tight oil exploration in the future. 展开更多

The Daqing exploration area in the northern Songliao Basin has great potential for unconventional oil and gas resources, among which the total resources of tight oil alone exceed 109 t and is regarded as an important resource base of Daqing oilfield. After years of exploration in the Qijia area,Songliao Basin,NE China, tight oil has been found in the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation. To work out tight oil’s geological characteristics, taking tight oil in Gaotaizi oil layers of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in northern Songliao Basin as an example, this paper systematically analyzed the geological characteristics of unconventional tight oil in Gao3 and Gao4 layers of the Qijia area, based on the data of the geological survey, well drilling journey, well logging, and test.It is that three sets of hydrocarbon source rocks(K2qn1,K2qn2+3,and K2n1)develop in the examined area, and exhibit excellent type I and II kerogens, high organic matter abundance, and moderate maturity. The reservoir is generally composed of thin-bedded mudstone, siltstone, and sandstone, and presents poor porosity(average 8.5 vol.%)and air permeability(average 4 mD).The main reservoir space primarily includes intergranular pores, secondary soluble pores, and intergranular soluble pores.Three types of orifice throats were identified, namely fine throat,extra-fine throat, and micro-fine throat. The siltstone is generally oil-bearing,the reservoirs with slime and calcium become worse oil-bearing,and the mudstone has no obvious oil-bearing characteristics. The brittleness indices of the sandstone in the tight oil reservoir range from 40%to 60%,and those of the mudstone range from 40%to 45%,indicating a better brittleness of the tight oil reservoir.Based on the study of typical core hole data, this paper gives a comprehensive evaluation of the properties of the tight oil and establishes a tight oil single well composite bar chart as well as the initial evaluation system with the core of properties in the tight oil reservoir. This study has theoretical guiding significance and practical application value for tight oil exploration and evaluation in the Qijia area. 展开更多

A physical simulation method with a combination of dynamic displacement and imbibition was established by integrating nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and CT scanning. The microscopic production mechanism of tight/shale oil in pore throat by dynamic imbibition and the influencing factors on the development effect of dynamic imbibition were analyzed. The dynamic seepage process of fracking-soaking-backflow-production integration was simulated, which reveals the dynamic production characteristics at different development stages and their contribution to enhancing oil recovery(EOR).The seepage of tight/shale reservoirs can be divided into three stages:strong displacement and weak imbibition as oil produced rapidly by displacement from macropores and fractures, weak displacement and strong imbibition as oil produced slowly by reverse imbibition from small pores, and weak displacement and weak imbibition at dynamic equilibrium. The greater displacement pressure results in the higher displacement recovery and the lower imbibition recovery. However,if the displacement pressure is too high, the injected water is easy to break through the front and reduce the recovery degree. The higher the permeability, the greater the imbibition and displacement recovery, the shorter the time of imbibition balance, and the higher the final recovery. The fractures can effectively increase the imbibition contact area between matrix and water, reduce the oil-water seepage resistance, promote the oil-water displacement between matrix and fracture, and improve the oil displacement rate and recovery of the matrix. The soaking after fracturing is beneficial to the imbibition replacement and energy storage of the fluid;also, the effective use of the carrying of the backflow fluid and the displacement in the mining stage is the key to enhancing oil recovery. 展开更多

For the analysis of the formation damage caused by the compound function of drilling fluid and fracturing fluid, the prediction method for dynamic invasion depth of drilling fluid is developed considering the fracture extension due to shale minerals erosion by oil-based drilling fluid. With the evaluation for the damage of natural and hydraulic fractures caused by mechanical properties weakening of shale fracture surface, fracture closure and rock powder blocking, the formation damage pattern is proposed with consideration of the compound effect of drilling fluid and fracturing fluid. The formation damage mechanism during drilling and completion process in shale reservoir is revealed, and the protection measures are raised. The drilling fluid can deeply invade into the shale formation through natural and induced fractures, erode shale minerals and weaken the mechanical properties of shale during the drilling process. In the process of hydraulic fracturing, the compound effect of drilling fluid and fracturing fluid further weakens the mechanical properties of shale, results in fracture closure and rock powder shedding, and thus induces stress-sensitive damage and solid blocking damage of natural/hydraulic fractures. The damage can yield significant conductivity decrease of fractures, and restrict the high and stable production of shale oil and gas wells. The measures of anti-collapse and anti-blocking to accelerate the drilling of reservoir section, forming chemical membrane to prevent the weakening of the mechanical properties of shale fracture surface, strengthening the plugging of shale fracture and reducing the invasion range of drilling fluid, optimizing fracturing fluid system to protect fracture conductivity are put forward for reservoir protection. 展开更多

Class III tight oil reservoirs have low porosity and permeability, which are often responsible for low production rates and limited recovery.Extensive repeated fracturing is a well-known technique to fix some of these issues. With such methods, existing fractures are refractured,and/or new fractures are created to facilitate communication with natural fractures. This study explored how different refracturing methods affect horizontal well fracture networks, with a special focus on morphology and related fluid flow changes. In particular, the study relied on the unconventional fracture model(UFM).The evolution of fracture morphology and flow field after the initial fracturing were analyzed accordingly. The simulation results indicated that increased formation energy and reduced reservoir stress differences can promote fracture expansion. It was shown that the length of the fracture network, the width of the fracture network, and the complexity of the fracture can be improved, the oil drainage area can be increased, the distance of oil and gas seepage can be reduced, and the production of a single well can be significantly increased. 展开更多

Due to the poor physical properties of tight reservoirs,CO_(2) huff-n-puff(HNP)is considered a potential enhanced oil recovery(EOR)method after primary depletion.Optimization plays a critical role in the effective implementation of CO_(2) huff-n-puff.But the optimization requires a good understanding of the EOR mechanisms. In this work, the spatial distribution of oil saturation under different experimental conditions was analyzed by the NMR method to further discuss the HNP mechanisms.According to the variation of 1D frequency signal amplitude,we divided the core into the hardly movable area and movable area, the region with the obvious signal decline was defined as the movable area, and the hardly movable area was the region with limited signal decline.Based on that the recovery characteristics of different scenarios were evaluated.Firstly, the necessity of the soaking stage was studied, where three scenarios with different soaking times were carried out.Secondly, the injection pressure was adjusted to investigate the effect of the pressure gradient. The T_(2) spectra show that soaking has significantly improved the production of crude oil in small pores, and higher oil recovery in a single cycle is observed, but it is lower when the elapsed time(total operation time)is the same.31.03% of oil can be recovered after 3 cycles HNP,which increases to 33.8% and 37.06% for the 4 cycles and 6 cycles cases. As the pressure gradient increases, more oil is removed out of the matrix, and the oil in the deep part of the reservoir can be effectively recovered.During the CO_(2) huff-n-puff process, the oil distributions are similar to the solution gas drive, the residual oil is distributed at the close end of the core and the range that the oil can be efficiently recovered is limited. 展开更多

This paper reviews the multiple rounds of upgrades of the hydraulic fracturing technology used in the Gulong shale oil reservoirs and gives suggestions about stimulation technology development in relation to the production performance of Gulong shale oil wells.Under the control of high-density bedding fractures, fracturing in the Gulong shale results in a complex fracture morphology, yet with highly suppressed fracture height and length.Hydraulic fracturing fails to generate artificial fractures with sufficient lengths and heights, which is a main restraint on the effective stimulation in the Gulong shale oil reservoirs. In this regard, the fracturing design shall follow the strategy of"controlling near-wellbore complex fractures and maximizing the extension of main fractures"Increasing the proportions of guar gum fracturing fluids, reducing perforation clusters within one fracturing stage, raising pump rates and appropriately exploiting stress interference are conducive to fracture propagation and lead to a considerably expanded stimulated reservoir volume(SRV).The upgraded main hydraulic fracturing technology is much more applicable to the Gulong shale oil reservoirs. It accelerates the oil production with a low flowback rate and lifts oil cut during the initial production of well groups, which both help to improve well production. It is suggested to optimize the hydraulic fracturing technology in six aspects, namely, suppressing propagation of near-wellbore microfractures, improving the pumping scheme of CO_(2),managing the perforating density, enhancing multi-proppant combination, reviewing well pattern/spacing,and discreetly applying fiber-assisted injection,so as to improve the SRv,the distal fracture complexity and the long-term fracture conductivity. 展开更多

The ternary-element storage and flow concept for shale oil reservoirs in Jiyang Depression of Bohai Bay Basin,East China, was proposed based on the data of more than 10000 m cores and the production of more than 60 horizontal wells. The synergy of three elements(storage, fracture and pressure)contributes to the enrichment and high production of shale oil in Jiyang Depression. The storage element controls the enrichment of shale oil;specifically, the presence of inorganic pores and fractures,as well as laminae of lime-mud rocks,in the saline lake basin,is conducive to the storage of shale oil,and the high hydrocarbon generating capacity and free hydrocarbon content are the material basis for high production. The fracture element controls the shale oil flow;specifically, natural fractures act as flow channels for shale oil to migrate and accumulate, and induced fractures communicate natural fractures to form complex fracture network, which is fundamental to high production. The pressure element controls the high and stable production of shale oil;specifically, the high formation pressure provides the drive force for the migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons, and fracturing stimulation significantly increases the elastic energy of rock and fluid, improves the imbibition replacement of oil in the pores/fractures,and reduces the stress sensitivity, guaranteeing the stable production of shale oil for a long time.Based on the ternary-element storage and flow concept,a 3D development technology was formed, with the core techniques of 3D well pattern optimization,3D balanced fracturing, and full-cycle optimization of adjustment and control. This technology effectively guides the production and provides a support to the large-scale beneficial development of shale oil in Jiyang Depression. 展开更多

Horizontal well drilling and multistage hydraulic fracturing have been demonstrated as effective approaches for stimulating oil production in the Bakken tight oil reservoir. However, after multiple years of production, primary oil recovery in the Bakken is generally less than 10%of the estimated original oil in place.Gas huff‘n’puff(HnP)has been tested in the Bakken Formation as an enhanced oil recovery(EOR)method;however, most field pilot test results showed no significant incremental oil production. One of the factors affecting HnP EOR performance is premature gas breakthrough, which is one of the most critical issues observed in the field because of the presence of interwell fractures.Consequently, injected gas rapidly reaches adjacent production wells without contacting reservoir rock and increasing oil recovery.Proper conformance control is therefore needed to avoid early gas breakthrough and improve EOR performance. In this study,a rich gas EOR pilot in the Bakken was carefully analyzed to collect the essential reservoir and operational data.A simulation model with 16 wells was then developed to reproduce the production history and predict the EOR performance with and without conformance control.EOR operational strategies, including single-and multiple-well HnP,with different gas injection constraints were investigated. The simulation results of single-well HnP without conformance control showed that a rich gas injection rate of at least 10 MMscfd was needed to yield meaningful incremental oil production. The strategy of conformance control via water injection could significantly improve oil production in the HnP well, but injecting an excessive amount of water also leads to water breakthrough and loss of oil production in the offset wells.By analyzing the production performance of the wells individually, the arrangement of wells was optimized for multiple-well HnP EOR.The multiwell results showed that rich gas EOR could improve oil production up to 7.4%by employing conformance control strategies.Furthermore, replacing rich gas with propane as the injection gas could result in 14%of incremental oil production. 展开更多

Hydraulic fracturing facilitates the development and exploitation of unconventional reservoirs. In this study, the injected hydraulic fracturing fluid(HFF)and flowback and produced water(FPW)in tight oil reservoirs of the Lucaogou Formation in the Junggar Basin are temporally sampled from day 1 to day 64.Freshwater is used for fracturing, and HFF is obtained. The chemical and isotopic parameters(including the water type, total salinity, total dissolved solids(TDS),pH,concentrations of Na^(+),Cl^(-),Ba^(+),K^(+),Fe^(2+)+Fe^(3+),and CO_(3)^(2-),dD,and δ^(18)O)are experimentally obtained, and their variations with time are systematically analyzed based on the flowback water. The results show that the water type,Na/Cl ratio, total salinity, and TDS of the FPW change periodically primarily due to the HFF mixing with formation water, thus causing δD and δ^(18)O to deviate from the meteoric water line of Xinjiang.Because of watererock interaction(WRI),the concentrations of Fe^(2+)+Fe^(3+)and CO_(3)^(2-)of the FPW increase over time, with the solution pH becoming more alkaline.Furthermore, based on the significant changes observed in the geochemistry of the FPW,three separate time intervals of flowback time are identified:Stage Ⅰ(<10 days),where the FPW is dominated by the HFF and the changes in ions and isotopes are mainly caused by the WRI;Stage Ⅱ(10-37 days),where the FPW is dominated by the addition of formation water to the HFF and the WRI is weakened;and finally,Stage Ⅲ(>37 days),where the FPW is dominated by the chemistry of the formation water. The methodology implemented in this study can provide critical support for the source identification of formation water. 展开更多

Hydraulic fracturing technology can significantly increase oil production from tight oil formations, but performance data show that production declines rapidly. In the long term, it is necessary to increase the development efficiency of block matrix, surfactant-aided imbibition is a potential way. The current work aimed to explain comprehensively how surfactants can enhance the imbibition rate. Laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the effects of wettability, interfacial tension(IFT), and relative permeability as the key parameters underlying surfactant solution imbibition. Two different types of surfactants, sodium dodecyl sulfate and polyethylene glycol octylphenol ether, at varied concentrations were tested on reservoir rocks. Experimental results showed that the oil recovery rate increased with increased wettability alteration and IFT and decreased residual oil saturation. A mechanistic simulator developed in previous studies was used to perform parametric analysis after successful laboratory-scale validation. Results were proven by parametric studies. This study, which examined the mechanism and factors influencing surfactant solution imbibition, can improve understanding of surfactant-aided imbibition and surfactant screening. 展开更多

Volumetric fracturing is a primary stimulation technology for economical and effective exploitation of tight oil reservoirs. The main mechanism is to connect natural fractures to generate a fracture network system which can enhance the stimulated reservoir volume. By using the combined finite and discrete element method, a model was built to describe hydraulic fracture propagation in tight oil reservoirs. Considering the effect of horizontal stress difference, number and spacing of perforation clus- ters, injection rate, and the density of natural fractures on fracture propagation, we used this model to simulate the fracture propagation in a tight formation of a certain oil- field. Simulation results show that when the horizontal stress difference is lower than 5 MPa, it is beneficial to form a complex fracture network system. If the horizontal stress difference is higher than 6 MPa, it is easy to form a planar fracture system; with high horizontal stress differ- ence, increasing the number of perforation clusters is beneficial to open and connect more natural fractures, and to improve the complexity of fracture network and the stimulated reservoir volume (SRV). As the injection rate increases, the effect of volumetric fracturing may be improved; the density of natural fractures may only have a great influence on the effect of volume stimulation in a low horizontal stress difference. 展开更多

Tight oil reservoirs are contributing a major role to fulfill the overall crude oil needs, especially in the US.However, the dilemma is their ultra-tight permeability and an uneconomically short-lived primary recovery factor. Therefore, the application of EOR in the early reservoir development phase is considered effective for fast-paced and economical tight oil recovery. To achieve these objectives,it is imperative to determine the optimum EOR potential and the best-suited EOR application for every individual tight oil reservoir to maximize its ultimate recovery factor.Since most of the tight oil reservoirs are found in wide spatial source rock with complex and compacted pores and poor geophysical properties yet they hold high saturation of good quality oil and therefore, every single percent increase in oil recovery from such huge reservoirs potentially provide an additional million barrels of oil.Hence, the EOR application in such reservoirs is quite essential. However, the physical understanding of EOR applications in different circumstances from laboratory to field scale is the key to success and similarly, the fundamental physical concepts of fluid flow-dynamics under confinement conditions play an important role. This paper presents a detailed discussion on laboratory-based experimental achievements at micro-scale including fundamental concepts under confinement environment,physics-based numerical studies, and recent actual field piloting experiences based on the U.S.unconventional plays. The objective of this paper is to discuss all the critical reservoir rock and fluid properties and their contribution to reservoir development through massive multi-staged hydraulic fracture networks and the EOR applications.Especially the CO_(2)and produced hydrocarbon gas injection through single well-based huff-n-puff operational constraints are discussed in detail both at micro and macro scale. 展开更多

A multi-process(fracturing,shut-in and production)multi-phase flow model was derived considering the osmotic pressure, membrane effect, elastic energy and capillary force,to determine the optimal shut-in time after multi-cluster staged hydraulic fracturing in shale reservoirs for the maximum production. The accuracy of the model was verified by using production data and commercial software.Based on this model and method,a physical model was made based on the inversion of fracture parameters from fracturing pressure data,to simulate the dynamic changes of pore pressure and oil saturation during fracturing, soaking and production, examine effects of 7 factors on the optimal shut-in time, and find out the main factors affecting the optimal shut-in time through orthogonal experiments. With the increase of shut-in time, the increment of cumulative production increases rapidly first and then tended to a stable value, and the shut-in time corresponding to the inflection point of the change was the optimal shut-in time. The optimal shut-in time has a nonlinear negative correlation with matrix permeability, porosity, capillary pressure multiple and fracture length,a nonlinear positive correlation with the membrane efficiency and total volume of injected fluid, and a nearly linear positive correlation with displacement. The seven factors in descending order of influence degree on optimal shut-in time are total volume of injected fluid, capillary force multiple, matrix permeability, porosity, membrane efficiency, salinity of fracturing fluid, fracturing fluid displacement. 展开更多

Triaxial fracturing modeling experiments were carried out on whole diameter shale cores from different layers of Shahejie Formation in the Dongpu sag,Bohai Bay Basin to find out the vertical propagation shapes of hydraulic fractures in different reservoirs.A numerical simulation method of inserting global cohesive elements was adopted to build a pseudo-three-dimension fracture propagation model for multiple shale oil reservoirs considering interface strength, perforation location, and pump rate to research the features of hydraulic fracture(HF)penetrating through layers. The hydraulic fracture propagates in a cross pattern in tight sandstone layers,in a straight line in sandstone layers with natural fractures, forms ladder fracture in shale layers with beddings. The hydraulic fracture propagates in a stripe shape vertically in both sandstone and shale layers, but it spreads in the plane in shale layers after connecting beddings.Restricted by beddings, the hydraulic fractures in shale layers are smaller in height than those in sandstone layers. When a sandstone layer and a shale layer are fractured at the same time, the fracture extends the most in height after the two layers are connected.Perforating at positions where the sandstone-shale interface is higher in strength and increasing the pumping rate can enhance the fracture height, thus achieving the goal of increasing the production by cross-layer fracturing in multiple shale oil layers. 展开更多

To deal with the stress interference caused by simultaneous propagation of multiple fractures and the wettability reversal and physical property changes of the reservoir caused by fracturing fluid getting in during large-volume fracturing of tight oil reservoirs through a horizontal well, a non-planar 3D fracture growth model was built, wettability reversal characterizing parameters and change of relative permeability curve were introduced to correct the production prediction model of fractured horizontal well, a fracturing design optimization software(Fr Smart) by integrating geological and engineering data was developed, and a fracturing design optimization approach for tight oil reservoirs based on fracture control was worked out. The adaptability of the method was analyzed and the fracture parameters of horizontal wells in tight oil reservoirs were optimized. The simulation results show that fracturing technology based on fracture control is suitable for tight oil reservoirs, and by optimizing fracture parameters, this technology makes it possible to produce the maximum amount of reserves in the well-controlled unit of unconventional reservoirs. The key points of fracturing design optimization based on fracture control include increasing lateral length of and reducing the row spacing between horizontal wells, increasing perforation clusters in one stage to decrease the spacing of neighboring fractures, and also avoiding interference of old and new fracturing wells. Field tests show that this technology can increase single well production and ultimate recovery. Using this technology in developing unconventional resources such as tight oil reservoirs in China will enhance the economics significantly. 展开更多
