In this study, to predict and evaluate the long-term development trend and short-term fluctuation of the dam seepage behavior, two monitoring models were developed, one for the base flow effect and one for daily variation of dam seepage elements. In the first model, to avoid the influence of the time lag effect on the evaluation of seepage variation with the time effect component of seepage elements, the base values of the seepage element and the reservoir water level were extracted using the wavelet multi-resolution analysis method, and the time effect component was separated by the established base flow effect monitoring model. For the development of the daily variation monitoring model for dam seepage elements, all the previous factors, of which the measured time series prior to the dam seepage element monitoring time may have certain influence on the monitored results, were considered. Those factors that were positively correlated with the analyzed seepage element were initially considered to be the support vector machine(SVM) model input factors, and then the SVM kernel function-based sensitivity analysis was performed to optimize the input factor set and establish the optimized daily variation SVM model. The efficiency and rationality of the two models were verified by case studies of the water level of two piezometric tubes buried under the slope of a concrete gravity dam.Sensitivity analysis of the optimized SVM model shows that the influences of the daily variation of the upstream reservoir water level and rainfall on the daily variation of piezometric tube water level are processes subject to normal distribution.展开更多

The correlation was investigated by calculating a correlation coefficient r of these changes for selected ENSO events in this study. Annual periodical increases and decreases in the CO2 concentration were considered, with a regular pattern of minimum values in August and maximum values in May each year. An increased deviation in CO2 and temperature was found in response to the occurrence of El Niño, but the increase in CO2 lagged behind the change in temperature by 5 months. This pattern was not observed for La Niña events. An increase in global CO2 emissions and a subsequent increase in global temperature proposed by IPCC were not observed, but an increase in global temperature, an increase in soil respiration, and a subsequent increase in global CO2 emissions were noticed. This natural process can be clearly detected during periods of increasing temperature specifically during El Niño events. The results cast strong doubts that anthropogenic CO2 is the cause of global warming.展开更多

By using the alternatively-coupling upper-lower solution method, we establish the existence of forced pulsating waves, as long as the shifting speed falls in a finite interval where the endpoints are obtained from KPP-Fisher speeds. The asymptotic behaviors of the forced pulsating waves are derived. In this paper, experiments on the Kaiser effect in limestones were performed, and it was found that the limestones had good ability to retain a memory of their recent stress history and high time-sensitivity. The longer the experiment was delayed from the extraction of the stone, the larger the Felicity ratio was. As the Felicity ratio approached l, significant Kaiser effect was observed. In-situ stress should be determined by the limestone measurements when the delay time was 40-120 days. In contrast to the nonlinear feedback scheme reported in the previous literature, the proposed controller is a linear one which only involves simple feedback information from the drive system with signal popagation lags. Besides, the unknown parameters can also be identified via the proposed updating laws in spite of the existence of model delays and transmission lags, as long as the linear independence condition between the related function elements is satisfied. Two examples, i.e., the Mackey-Glass model with single delay and the Lorenz system with multiple delays, are employed to show the effectiveness of this approach. Some robustness issues are also discussed, which shows that the proposed scheme is quite robust in switching and noisy environment.展开更多

However, there is a significant time lag between sap flow measured at the base of the stem and canopy transpiration due to the capacitive exchange between the transpiration stream and stem water storage. Significant errors will be introduced in canopy conductance (gc) and canopy transpiration estimation if the time lag is neglected. In this study, a cross-correlation analysis was used to quantify the time lag, and the sap flowbased transpiration was measured to pararneterize Jarvistype models of gc and thus to simulate Ec of Populus cathayana using the Penman-Monteith equation. The results indicate that solar radiation (Rs) and vapor pressure deficit (VPD) are not fully coincident with sap flow and have an obvious lag effect; the sap flow lags behind Rs and precedes VPD, and there is a 1-h time shift between Eo and sap flow in the 30-min interval data set. A parameterized Jarvis-type gc model is suitable to predict P. cathayana transpiration and explains more than 80% of the variation observed in go, and the relative error was less than 25%, which shows a preferable simulation effect. The root mean square error (RMSEs) between the predicted and measured Ec were 1.91×10^-3 (with the time lag) and 3.12×10^-3cm h^-1 (without the time lag). More importantly, Ec simulation precision that incorporates time lag is improved by 6% compared to the results without the time lag, with the mean relative error (MRE) of only 8.32% and the mean absolute error (MAE) of 1.48 × 10^-3 cm h^-1.展开更多

In this paper, a two-time-scale dis- sipation model of turbulence modification, developed for the two-phase velocity correlation and for the dissipation rate of gas turbulent kinetic energy, is proposed and used to simulate sudden-expansion and swirling gas-particle flows. The proposed two-time scale model gives better results than the single-time scale model. Besides, a gas tur- bulence augmentation model accounting for the finite-size particle wake effect in the gas Reynolds stress equation is proposed. The proposed turbulence modification models are used to simulate two-phase pipe flows. It can prop- erly predict both turbulence reduction and turbulence enhancement for a certain size of particles observed in ex- periments.展开更多

文摘Affected by external environmental factors and evolution of dam performance, dam seepage behavior shows nonlinear time-varying characteristics. The efficiency and rationality of the two models were verified by case studies of the water level of two piezometric tubes buried under the slope of a concrete gravity dam.Sensitivity analysis of the optimized SVM model shows that the influences of the daily variation of the upstream reservoir water level and rainfall on the daily variation of piezometric tube water level are processes subject to normal distribution.

文摘The focus of this study is to investigate the influence of memory effect and the relation of its existence with the dissociation temperature, using gas hydrate formation and dissociation experiments. This is beneficial because memory effect is considered as an effective approach to promote the thermodynamic and dynamic conditions of gas hydrate nucleation.Seven experimental systems (twenty tests in total) were performed in a 1 L pressure cell.Three types of hydrate morphology, namely massive, whiskery and jelly crystals were present in the experiments. The pressures and temperatures at the time when visual hydrate crystals appeared were measured.Furthermore, the influence of memory effect was quantified in terms of pressure-temperature-time (p-T-t) relations. The results revealed that memory effect could promote the thermodynamic conditions and shorten the induction time when the dissociation temperature was not higher than 25℃.In this study, the nucleation superpressure and induction time decrease gradually with time of tests, when the earlier and the later tests are compared. It is assumed that the residual structure of hydrate dissociation,as the source of the memory effect, provides a site for mass transfer between host and guest molecules. Therefore,a driving force is created between the residual structures and its surrounding bulk phase to promote the hydrate nucleation. However, when the dissociation temperature was higher than 25 ℃,the memory effect vanished. These findings provide references for the application of memory effect in hydrate-based technology.

文摘In this paper we present an adaptive scheme to achieve lag synchronization for uncertain dynamical systems with time delays and unknown parameters. Some robustness issues are also discussed, which shows that the proposed scheme is quite robust in switching and noisy environment.

文摘Considering three longitudinal displacement functions and uniform axial displacement functions for shear lag effect and uniform axial deformation of thin-walled box girder with varying depths,a simple and efficient method with high precision to analyze the shear lag effect of thin-walled box girders was proposed. The governing differential equations and boundary conditions of the box girder under lateral loading were derived based on the energy-variational method, and closed-form solutions to stress and deflection corresponding to lateral loading were obtained.Analysis and calculations were carried out with respect to a trapezoidal box girder under concentrated loading or uniform loading and a rectangular box girder under concentrated loading. The analytical results were compared with numerical solutions derived according to the high order finite strip element method and the experimental results. The investigation shows that the closed-form solution is in good agreement with the numerical solutions derived according to the high order finite strip method and the experimental results, and has good stability.Because of the shear lag effect, the stress in cross-section centroid is no longer zero, thus it is not reasonable enough to assume that the strain in cross-section centroid is zero without considering uniform axial deformation.

文摘Based on the consideration of longitudinal warp caused by shear lag effects on concrete slabs and bottom plates of steel beams, shear deformation of steel beams and interface slip between steel beams and concrete slabs, the governing differential equations and boundary conditions of the steel-concrete composite box beams under lateral loading were derived using energy-variational method. The closed-form solutions for stress, deflection and slip of box beams under lateral loading were obtained, and the comparison of the analytical results and the experimental results for steel-concrete composite box beams under concentrated loading or uniform loading verifies the closed-form solution. The investigation of the parameters of load effects on composite box beams shows that:1) Slip stiffness has considerable impact on mid-span deflection and end slip when it is comparatively small;the mid-span deflection and end slip decrease significantly with the increase of slip stiffness, but when the slip stiffness reaches a certain value, its impact on mid-span deflection and end slip decreases to be negligible.2) The shear deformation has certain influence on mid-span deflection, and the larger the load is,the greater the influence is.3) The impact of shear deformation on end slip can be neglected.4) The strain of bottom plate of steel beam decreases with the increase of slip stiffness, while the shear lag effect becomes more significant.

文摘Recently, canopy transpiration (Ec) has been often estimated by xylem sap-flow measurements. More importantly, Ec simulation precision that incorporates time lag is improved by 6% compared to the results without the time lag, with the mean relative error (MRE) of only 8.32% and the mean absolute error (MAE) of 1.48 × 10^-3 cm h^-1.

文摘Presently developed two-phase turbulence models under-predict the gas turbulent fluctuation, because their turbulence modification models cannot fully reflect the effect of particles. It can prop- erly predict both turbulence reduction and turbulence enhancement for a certain size of particles observed in ex- periments.
