Herein, isoch...The biflavonoid isochamaejasmin is mainly distributed in the root of Stellera chamaejasme L.(Thymelaeaceae) that is used in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) to treat tumors, tuberculosis, and psoriasis. Herein, isochamaejasmin was found to show similar bioactivity against Bcl-2 family proteins to the reference Bcl-2 ligand(–)-gossypol through 3D similarity search. It selectively bound to Bcl-xL and Mcl-1 with Ki values being 1.93 ± 0.13 μmol·L-1 and 9.98 ± 0.21 μmol·L-1, respectively. In addition, isochamaejasmin showed slight growth inhibitory activity against HL-60 with IC50 value being 50.40 ± 1.21 μmol·L-1 and moderate growth inhibitory activity against K562 cells with IC50 value being 24.51 ± 1.62 μmol·L-1. Furthermore, isochamaejasmin induced apoptosis of K562 cells by increasing the intracellular expression levels of proteins of the cleavage of caspase-9, caspase-3, and PARP which involved in the Bcl-2-induced apoptosis pathway. These results indicated that isochamaejasmin induces apoptosis in leukemia cells by inhibiting the activity of Bcl-2 family proteins, providing evidence for further studying the underlying anti-cancer mechanism of S. chamaejasme L..展开更多
Lupus Nephritis(LN)is a significant risk factor for morbidity and mortality in systemic lupus erythematosus,and nephropathology is still the gold standard for diagnosing LN.To assist pathologists in evaluating histopa...Lupus Nephritis(LN)is a significant risk factor for morbidity and mortality in systemic lupus erythematosus,and nephropathology is still the gold standard for diagnosing LN.To assist pathologists in evaluating histopathological images of LN,a 2D Rényi entropy multi-threshold image segmentation method is proposed in this research to apply to LN images.This method is based on an improved Cuckoo Search(CS)algorithm that introduces a Diffusion Mechanism(DM)and an Adaptiveβ-Hill Climbing(AβHC)strategy called the DMCS algorithm.The DMCS algorithm is tested on 30 benchmark functions of the IEEE CEC2017 dataset.In addition,the DMCS-based multi-threshold image segmentation method is also used to segment renal pathological images.Experimental results show that adding these two strategies improves the DMCS algorithm's ability to find the optimal solution.According to the three image quality evaluation metrics:PSNR,FSIM,and SSIM,the proposed image segmentation method performs well in image segmentation experiments.Our research shows that the DMCS algorithm is a helpful image segmentation method for renal pathological images.展开更多
By combining structural search and first-principles calculations,we predict a new stable twodimensional PdSe monolayer,and systematically investigate its structural,electronic and optical properties.The calculated for...By combining structural search and first-principles calculations,we predict a new stable twodimensional PdSe monolayer,and systematically investigate its structural,electronic and optical properties.The calculated formation enthalpy,phonon spectra and molecular dynamic simulations confirm that PdSe monolayer possesses excellent thermodynamic and dynamic stability.PdSe monolayer is a semiconductor with an indirect band gap of∼1.10 eV.The carrier transport of PdSe monolayer is dominated by hole and exhibits remarkable anisotropy due to the intrinsic structure anisotropy.The optical properties also show obvious anisotropic characteristic with considerable absorption coefficient and broad absorption from the visible to ultraviolet regions.Benefiting from these excellent physical properties,PdSe monolayer is expected to be a promising candidate as electronic and optoelectronic devices.展开更多
