In this paper, we propose a new differential space-time-frequency (DSTF) modulation for MIMOOFDM system with four transmit-antennas and arbitrary receive-antennas, which can improve the transmission rate since it can adopt high order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) modulation. Our proposed DSTF scheme embeds some full diversity full rate (FDFR) quasi-orthogonal space-time codes (QOSTBC) with QAM modulation into the frequency intervals and adopts the differential modulation in both time and frequency domains. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed DSTF scheme can improve transmission rate greatly. Compared with the conventional differential unitary space-time modulation (DUSTM), it can get better transmission performance in high transmission rate for MIMO-OFDM system. 展开更多

Differential space-time (DST) modulation has been proposed recently for multiple-antenna systems over Rayleigh fading channels, where neither the transmitter nor the receiver knows the fading coefficients. Among existing schemes, differential modulation is always performed in the time domain and suffers performance degradations in frequency-selective fading channels. In order to combat the fast time and frequency-selective fading, a novel time-frequency differential space-time (TF-DST) modulation scheme, which adopts differential modulation in both time and frequency domains, is proposed for multi-antenna orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. A corresponding suboptimal yet low-complexity non-coherent detection approach is also proposed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed system is robust for time and frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. 展开更多

EM-based detection scheme for differential unitary space-time modulation

The performance loss of an approximately 3 dB signal-to-noise ratio is always paid with conventional differential detection compared to the related coherent detection. A new detection scheme consisting of two steps is proposed for the differential unitary space-time modulation (DUSTM) system. In the first step, the data sequence is estimated by conventional unitary space-time demodulation (DUSTD) and differentially encoded again to produce an initial estimate of the transmitted symbol stream. In the second step, the initial estimate of the symbol stream is utilized to initialize an expectation maximization (EM)-based iterative detector. In each iteration, the most recent detected symbol stream is employed to estimate the channel, which is then used to implement coherent sequence detection to refine the symbol stream. Simulation results show that the proposed detection scheme performs much better than the conventional DUSTD after several iterations. 展开更多

Considering that real communication signals corrupted by noise are generally nonstationary, and timefrequency distributions are especially suitable for the analysis of nonstationary signals, time-frequency distributions are introduced for the modulation classification of communication signals: The extracted time-frequency features have good classification information, and they are insensitive to signal to noise ratio (SNR) variation. According to good classification by the correct rate of a neural network classifier, a multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifier with better generalization, as well as, addition of time-frequency features set for classifying six different modulation types has been proposed. Computer simulations show that the MLP classifier outperforms the decision-theoretic classifier at low SNRs, and the classification experiments for real MPSK signals verify engineering significance of the MLP classifier. 展开更多

Compared with other schemes, our scheme has lower computational complexity and has a simpler decoder. In the case of three or four transmitter antennas, our scheme has a higher rate a higher coding gain and a lower bit error rate for a given rate. Then we made simulations for space-time block codes as well as group codes in the case of two, three, four and five transmit antennas. The simulations prove that using two transmit antennas, one receive antenna and code rate of 4 bits/s/Hz, the differential STBC method outperform the differential group codes method by 4 dB. Useing three, four and five transmit antennas, one receive antenna, and code rate of 3 bits/s/Hz are adopted, the differential STBC method outperform the differential group codes method by 5 dB, 6. 5 dB and 7 dB, respectively. In other words, the differential modulation scheme based on space-time block code is better than the corresponding differential modulation scheme 展开更多

In this paper,a differential scheme is proposed for reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)assisted spatial modulation,which is referred to as RISDSM,to eliminate the need for channel state information(CSI)at the receiver.The proposed scheme is an improvement over the current differential modulation scheme used in RIS-based systems,as it avoids the high-order matrix calculation and improves the spectral efficiency.A mathematical framework is developed to determine the theoretical average bit error probability(ABEP)of the system using RIS-DSM.The detection complexity of the proposed RIS-DSM scheme is extremely low through the simplification.Finally,simulations results demonstrate that the proposed RIS-DSM scheme can deliver satisfactory error performance even in low signal-to-noise ratio environments. 展开更多

Based on an existing basis expansion model, a new differential space-time code, which wisely combines interleaver/de-interleaver with traditonal space-time transmitting technique to overcome such limitation, .is presented. Two noncoherent differential decoders, named decision-feedback differential detector (DF-DD) and Viterbi-algorithmbased multiple-symbol-detection differential detector ( MSD-DD), are also derived. We show that our design may recover data symbols with full antenna diversity and the maximum Doppler diversity at high signal-to-noise ratio. System performance is evaluated with simulations. 展开更多

Differential unitary space-time modulation (DUSTM), which obtains full transmit diversity in slowly fiat-fading channels without channel state iufonnation, has generated significant interests recently. To combat frequency-selective fading, DUSTM has been applied to each subcarrier of an OFDM system and DUSTM-OFDM system was proposed. Both DUSTM and DUSTM-OFDM, however, are designed for slowly fading channels and suffer performance deterioration in fast fading channels. In this paper, two novel differential unitary space-time modulation schemes are proposed for fast fading channels. For fast fiat-fading channels, a subatrix interleaved DUSTM (SMI-DUSTM) scheme is proposed, in which matrix-segmentation and sub-matrix based interleaving are introduced into DUSTM system. For fast frequency-selective fading channels, a differential unitary space-frequency modulation (DUSFM) scheme is proposed, in which existing unitary space-time codes are employed across transmit antennas and OFDM subcarriers simultaneouslv and differential modulation is performed between two adjacent OFDM blocks. Compared with DUSTM and DUSTM-OFDM schemes, SMI-DUSTM and DUSFM-OFDM are more robust to fast channel fading with low decoding complexity, which is demonstrated by performance analysis and simulation resuits. 展开更多

Our recent arXiv preprints and published papers on the solution of the Riemann-Lanczos and Weyl-Lanczos problems have brought our attention on the importance of revisiting the algebraic structure of the Bianchi identities in Riemannian geometry. We also discovered in the meantime that, in our first GB book of 1978, we had already used a new way for studying the compatibility conditions (CC) of an operator that may not be necessarily formally integrable (FI) in order to construct canonical formally exact differential sequences on the jet level. The purpose of this paper is to prove that the combination of these two facts clearly shows the specific importance of the Spencer operator and the Spencer &delta;-cohomology, totally absent from mathematical physics today. The results obtained are unavoidable because they only depend on elementary combinatorics and diagram chasing. They also provide for the first time the purely intrinsic interpretation of the respective numbers of successive first, second, third and higher order generating CC. However, if they of course agree with the linearized Killing operator over the Minkowski metric, they largely disagree with recent publications on the respective numbers of generating CC for the linearized Killing operator over the Schwarzschild and Kerr metrics. Many similar examples are illustrating these new techniques, providing in particular a few resolutions in which the orders of the successive operators may go “up and down” surprisingly, like in the conformal situation for various dimensions. 展开更多

Recent advances in electronics have increased the complexity of radar signal modulation.The quasi-linear frequency modulation(quasi-LFM)radar waveforms(LFM,Frank code,P1−P4 code)have similar time-frequency distributions,and it is difficult to identify such signals using traditional time-frequency analysis methods.To solve this problem,this paper proposes an algorithm for automatic recognition of quasi-LFM radar waveforms based on fractional Fourier transform and time-frequency analysis.First of all,fractional Fourier transform and the Wigner-Ville distribution(WVD)are used to determine the number of main ridgelines and the tilt angle of the target component in WVD.Next,the standard deviation of the target component's width in the signal's WVD is calculated.Finally,an assembled classifier using neural network is built to recognize different waveforms by automatically combining the three features.Simulation results show that the overall recognition rate of the proposed algorithm reaches 94.17%under 0 dB.When the training data set and the test data set are mixed with noise,the recognition rate reaches 89.93%.The best recognition accuracy is achieved when the size of the training set is taken as 400.The algorithm complexity can meet the requirements of real-time recognition. 展开更多

This paper proposes a high-throughput short reference differential chaos shift keying cooperative communication system with the aid of code index modulation,referred to as CIM-SR-DCSK-CC system.In the proposed CIM-SR-DCSK-CC system,the source transmits information bits to both the relay and destination in the first time slot,while the relay not only forwards the source information bits but also sends new information bits to the destination in the second time slot.To be specific,the relay employs an N-order Walsh code to carry additional log_(2)N information bits,which are superimposed onto the SRDCSK signal carrying the decoded source information bits.Subsequently,the superimposed signal carrying both the source and relay information bits is transmitted to the destination.Moreover,the theoretical bit error rate(BER)expressions of the proposed CIMSR-DCSK-CC system are derived over additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN)and multipath Rayleigh fading channels.Compared with the conventional DCSKCC system and SR-DCSK-CC system,the proposed CIM-SR-DCSK-CC system can significantly improve the throughput without deteriorating any BER performance.As a consequence,the proposed system is very promising for the applications of the 6G-enabled lowpower and high-rate communication. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel LDPC based differential unitary space-frequency coding (DUSFC) scheme for MIMO-OFDM systems when neither the transmitter nor the receiver has access to the channel state information (CSI). The new DUSFC strategy basically consists of coding across transmit antennas and OFDM tones simultaneously as well as differential modulation in the time-domain. It can fully exploit the inherent advantages provided by the multipath fading channels, resulting in a high degree of diversity. The state-of-the-art low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes are concatenated with our DUSFC as channel coding to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance considerably. Owing to the maximum multipath diversity and large coding advantages, LDPC-DUSFC strongly outperforms the differential unitary space-time coded OFDM techniques re- cently proposed in literature. The corresponding iterative decoding algorithm without channel estimation is finally provided to offer significant performance gain. In this paper, the design of signal constellations parameters is studied for Differential Unitary Space-Time Modulation (DUSTM) based on the design criterion of maximizing the diversity product. Further, noninteger searching method for the signal constellation parameters design is proposed in order to get better codes. Experimental results show that under the different Doppler spread and data transmission rate, the proposed design performs better than the previous design using integer parameters in Multiple Input Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system over frequency-selective fading channels. 展开更多
