Due to the high cost of environment-friendly materials and limited funds for the new countryside construction,it is the principal contradiction in the application of environment-friendly materials to satisfy the demands of both environment protection and cost reduction.The authors proposed that the influence ranking of these materials on environment should be clarified first to settle this contradiction,that is,to choose energy-conserving and environment-friendly materials within the limit of expenditure.By comparing the energy consumption,shock resistance,economic efficiency and social acceptability of wall materials,the influence ranking was given as below:hollow concrete block < lime-sand brick < baked chamotte brick;by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of floor and roof concrete materials,as well as attentions for reducing negative impacts,the order of their influence was given as below:precast concrete trough plate < precast hollow strength concrete plate < cast-in-place concrete plate < cast-in-place brick-concrete plate;suitable materials for door and window frameworks were concluded,the influence order of wall and floor decoration materials on environment was given as:bare walls without plastering < walls of stable soil plastering < walls of cement-water plastering < walls of lime plastering;concrete for the overall decoration < parquet floor < tile floor < terrazzo floor;and 7 heat retardation materials were suggested for the construction of new countryside. 展开更多

A new clay-cement composite grouting material (CCGM) for tunnelling in underwater karst area was developed through the excellent synergistic interactions among cement, clay, meta-aluminate and lignin. The probable formation mechanism of the material was proposed based on a series of experimental tests. The results show that with an optimal mass ratio (2:1:1:0.024) for water, cement, clay and additives, the obtained CCGM displayed an excellent grouting performance for karst in an underwater condition. Compared with neat cement grouts and clay-cement grouts, CCGM has faster gel time, lower bleeding rate and bulk shrinkage rate, greater initial viscosity, and a strong resistance to water dispersion. A successful engineering application indicates that CCGM not only fulfils a better grouting performance for karst in underwater conditions but also reduces the engineering cost and environmental pollution. 展开更多

The current energy crisis has prompted the development of new energy sources and energy storage/conversion devices. Membranes, as the key component, not only provide enormous separation potential for energy purification but also guarantee stable and high-efficiency operation for rechargeable batteries and fuel cells. Remarkably, two-dimensional(2D) material separation membranes have attracted intense attention on their excellent performance in energy field applications, owing to high mechanical/chemical stability, low mass transport resistance, strict sizeexclusion, and abundant modifiable functional groups. In this review, we concentrate on the recent progress of 2D membrane and introduce 2D membranes based on graphene oxide(GO), MXenes, 2D MOFs, 2D COFs, and 2D zeolite nanosheets, which are applied in membrane separation(H2 collection and biofuel purification) and battery separators(vanadium flow battery, Li–S battery, and fuel cell). The mass transport mechanism, selectivity mechanism, and modification methods of these 2D membranes are stated in brief, mainly focusing on interlayer dominant membranes(GO and MXenes) and pore dominant membranes(MOFs, COFs, and zeolite nanosheets). In conclusion, we highlight the challenges and outlooks of applying 2D membranes in energy fields. 展开更多

A simple uniaxial oedometric system is developed to test the elastic modulus of granular materials. The stress- strain relationship is first measured under conditions of uniaxial compression with additional lateral stress and strain, then the elastic modulus of the material is determined by the linear fitting method. It is found that the modulus is positively correlated to the grain size and negatively correlated to the container size. Arching and dragging are revealed to be the mechanism of such correlations by using the digital image correlation method and the pressure film technology based on the statistical method. 展开更多

Pyrolysis of furfural-acetone resin as matrix precursor for new carbon materials

In order to increase the understanding of the pyrolysis mechanism, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and thermogravimetry-mass spectrometric coupling technique (TG-MS) were used to study the pyrolysis behavior of furfural-acetone resin used for new carbon materials. The curing and carbonization mechanisms of furfural-acetone resin were mainly investigated; structural changes and volatile products evolved during pyrolysis were analyzed. The results indicate that, during pyrolysis of furfural-acetone resin adding 7% (mass fraction) phosphorous acid as curing agent, the rupture of C—O bond in the five-membered heterocycle firstly takes place to release oxygen atoms and then does the C—H bond, which enable the molecular chain to cross-link and condense, then lead to the formation of three dimensional networking structure. With the increase of pyrolyzing temperature, the scission of methyl and the opening of furan ring are generated. As a result, the recomposition of molecular chain structure is generated and a hexatomic fused ring containing double bonds is built. The main volatile products during pyrolysis of furfural- acetone resin are H2O, and a small mount of CO, CO2 and CH4. At elevated temperatures, dehydrogenation takes place and hydrogen gas is evolved. 展开更多

In this paper, we report the growth of single crystals of Co_x Zn_(1-x)S and Co_x Zn_(1-x)Se (0<x<0.3) by the method of chemical transport, using iodine as a transport agent. The light green color of single crystal Co_xZn_(1-x)S as well as the light brown color of Co_xZn_(1-x)Se become deep with an increase in x. The compositions of the single crystals were nearly stoichiometric. The transfer rate decreases with an increase of the x value. The growth rate was related to the temperature difference. The large temperature difference speed up the growth rate, but the size of crystal obtained was small. In general, the optimal temperature difference was 15℃. From X-ray diffraction measurements, the structures of crystals Co_xZn_(1-x)S and Co_xZn_(1-x)Se (0<x<0.1) were identified to be zinc blende structure similar to that of ZnS and ZnSe. 展开更多
