The results indicated that both WC and RWC were increased significantly, as the amount of sap flow from rice plants was reduced statistically, with the increase of nitrogen content in rice plants. RWC in rice plants applied with high nitrogen fertilizer decreased drastically by the injury of BPH nymphs, while the reduced survival duration of rice plants with the increase of nitrogen content was recorded. These may be considered to be one of the important factors in increasing the susceptibility to BPH damage on rice plants applied with nitrogen fertilizer.展开更多

Thus, it solves the problem that users have the demands to deliver messages while they are temporarily not able to connect to the Internet. Therefore, by the characteristics of DTNs, people who are not online can still query some location based information, with the help of users using the same service in the nearby area. In this paper, we proposed a location-based content search approach. Based on the concept of three-tier area and hybrid node types, we presented four strategies to solve the query problem, namely, Data Replication, Query Replication, Data Reply, and Data Synchronization strategies. Especially we proposed a Message Queue Selection algorithm for message transferring. The priority concept is set associated with every message such that the most "important" one could be sent first. In this way, it can increase the query success ratio and reduce the query delay time. Finally, we evaluated our approach, and compared with other routing schemes. The simulation results showed that our proposed approach had better query efficiency and shorter delay.展开更多

The objective was to assess whether low Ca2+ content and Ca2+/Na+ ratio of leaf tissue or stem tissue determine salinity tolerance in terms of economic yield (kernel yield) in groundnut. It revealed that the varieties, “Binachinabadam-6”, “Binachinabadam-5” and the F1 G2 × G3 were most tolerant based on kernel yield under 8 dS/m and 10 dS/m salinity stresses. These two tolerant varieties and the F1 also showed lower Ca2+ and Ca2+/Na+ ratios in leaf tissue, which indicated lower Ca2+ and Ca2+/Na+ ratio of leaf tissue determined salinity tolerance in terms of kernel yield in Spanish type groundnut. These findings could be applied in future plant breeding applications for screening salt tolerant Spanish type groundnut genotypes.展开更多

Experiments were conducted to study the effects of three nutrients, nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P) and potassium(K),on BPH and its host rice plants. Biochemical constituents of BPH and rice plants with varying nutrient levels at different growth stages, and changes in relative water content(RWC) of rice plants were determined in the laboratory. Feeding of BPH and the tolerance of rice plants to BPH with different nutrient levels were determined in the nethouse. Concentrations of N and P were found much higher in the BPH body than in its host rice plants, and this elemental mismatch is an inherent constraint on meeting nutritional requirements of BPH. Nitrogen was found as a more limiting element for BPH than other nutrients in rice plants. Application of N fertilizers to the rice plants increased the N concentrations both in rice plants and BPH while application of P and K fertilizers increased their concentrations in plant tissues only but not in BPH. Nitrogen application also increased the level of soluble proteins and decreased silicon content in rice plants, which resulted in increased feeding of BPH with sharp reduction of RWC in rice plants ultimately caused susceptible to the pest. P fertilization increased the concentration of P in rice plant tissues but not changed N,K,Si,free sugar and soluble protein contents, which indicated little importance of P to the feeding of BPH and tolerance of plant against BPH. K fertilization increased K content but reduced N,Si,free sugar and soluble protein contents in the plant tissues which resulted in the minimum reduction of RWC in rice plants after BPH feeding, thereby contributed to higher tolerance of rice plants to brown planthopper.展开更多

PCR amplification and Southern blot analysis indicated that ICE1 had been integrated into rice genome. Compared with the non-transgenic plants, the transgenic plants exhibited high resistance to hygromycin B and were consistent with the Mendelian inheritance of a single copy of the transgenic ICE1. Under the low temperature stress, the transgenic plants showed the lower mortality rate and the increased proline content. These results suggest that the Arabidopsis ICE1 is functional in rice and the over-expression of ICE1 improves the tolerance to cold stress in rice.展开更多

文摘The study was performed with seven groundnut varieties/genotypes and F1s derived from crossing in all possible combinations without reciprocal among the mentioned varieties/genotypes. These findings could be applied in future plant breeding applications for screening salt tolerant Spanish type groundnut genotypes.

文摘The problem considered in this paper is how to detect the degree of similarity in the content of digital images useful in image retrieval,i.e.,to what extent is the content of a query image similar to content of other images. The solution to this problem results from the detection of subsets that are rough sets contained in covers of digital images determined by perceptual tolerance relations(PTRs).Such relations are defined within the context of perceptual representative spaces that hearken back to work by J.H.Poincare on representative spaces as models of physical continua.Classes determined by a PTR provide content useful in content-based image retrieval(CBIR).In addition, tolerance classes provide a means of determining when subsets of image covers are tolerance rough sets(TRSs).It is the nearness of TRSs present in image tolerance spaces that provide a promising approach to CBIR,especially in cases such as satellite images or aircraft identification where there are subtle differences between pairs of digital images, making it difficult to quantify the similarities between such images. The contribution of this article is the introduction of the nearness of tolerance rough sets as an effective means of measuring digital image similarities and,as a significant consequence, successfully carrying out CBIR.
