To estimate the unknown scalar, its phase is decomposed into a fractional phase and an integer phase. However, the maximum-likelihood (ML) algorithm for the fractional phase does not have closed-form solutions and suffers from high computational complexity. By ex- ploring the structures of widely used constellations, this paper proposes a low-complexity fractional phase estimation algorithm which requires no exhaustive search. Analytical expressions of the asymptotic mean squared error (MSE) are also derived. The theo- retical analysis and simulation results indicate that the proposed fractional phase estimation algorithm exhibits almost the same performance as the ML algorithm but with significantly reduced computational burden.展开更多

The estimation of Z is crucial to fish population dynamics analysis,abundance and catch ...The instantaneous total mortality rate(Z) of a fish population is one of the important parameters in fisheries stock assessment. The estimation of Z is crucial to fish population dynamics analysis,abundance and catch forecast,and fisheries management. A catch curve-based method for estimating time-based Z and its change trend from catch per unit effort(CPUE) data of multiple cohorts is developed. Unlike the traditional catch-curve method,the method developed here does not need the assumption of constant Z throughout the time,but the Z values in n continuous years are assumed constant,and then the Z values in different n continuous years are estimated using the age-based CPUE data within these years. The results of the simulation analyses show that the trends of the estimated time-based Z are consistent with the trends of the true Z,and the estimated rates of change from this approach are close to the true change rates(the relative differences between the change rates of the estimated Z and the true Z are smaller than 10%). Variations of both Z and recruitment can affect the estimates of Z value and the trend of Z. The most appropriate value of n can be different given the effects of different factors. Therefore,the appropriate value of n for different fisheries should be determined through a simulation analysis as we demonstrated in this study. Further analyses suggested that selectivity and age estimation are also two factors that can affect the estimated Z values if there is error in either of them,but the estimated change rates of Z are still close to the true change rates. We also applied this approach to the Atlantic cod(G adus morhua) fishery of eastern Newfoundland and Labrador from 1983 to 1997,and obtained reasonable estimates of time-based Z.展开更多

Therefore, in this study, the amount of radiation is measured by Pyranometer from beginning of February to August 2010 in Semnan (The central part of Iran), and it is compared with daily sunny hours, different estimated models of daily radiation such as Angstrom-Pryskat (Montis, Climate classification based on the Terwartha scientific map, using the results of 40 worldwide station, using the results of 9 Synoptic stations in Iran), the Maximum likelihood (using the results of 100 stations in worldwide, using the results of 9 Synoptic station in Iran). For dense time delay estimation(TDE),when multiple time delays are located within a grid interval,it is dificult for the existing sparse Bayesian learning/inference(SBL/SBI)methods to obtain high estimation accuracy t...For dense time delay estimation(TDE),when multiple time delays are located within a grid interval,it is dificult for the existing sparse Bayesian learning/inference(SBL/SBI)methods to obtain high estimation accuracy to meet the application requirements.To solve this problem,this paper proposes a method named off-grid sparse Bayesian inference-biased total grid(OGSBI-BTG),where a mesh evolution process is conducted to move the total grids iteratively based on the position of the off-grid between two grids.The proposed method updates the off-grid dictionary matrix by further reconstructing an optimum mesh and offsetting the off-grid vector.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach performs better than other state-of-the-art SBI methods and multiple signal classification even when the grid interval is larger than the gap of true time delays.In this paper,the time domain model and frequency domain model of TDE are studied.展开更多
