Imperatives for Teacher Empowerment in Devising Extension Education as Part of the Holistic Curriculum for Hospitality and Tourism Domains： A Conceptual Study in Indian Context

The role of educator or teacher in the Indian context is circumscribed by the objective of social transformation as articulated in the Indian National Movement and later enshrined in the Preamble to the Indian Constitution, in the Fundamental Rights, and in the Directive Principles of State Policy. Extension, which is the additional dimension of professional practice among teachers at higher education, can be used as a revolutionary tool to modify the existing slogan of ＂education for all＂ to ＂education for all and forever＂, thereby making the ＂lifelong education＂ a reality. This conceptual paper addresses the twin needs of preparing the students for individual growth as also to facilitate them to contribute to social development. It focuses on the inclusion of the measures required to be taken for providing social consciousness and sensitivity, as this happens to be a neglected part of the curriculum. The extra effort so needed to build community-based activities presupposes the requirement for professional training to be given to the hospitality and tourism educators as a continuing education initiative.

Research on the Teaching Reform of Tourism Vocational Education Based on the Idea of "Integration of Teaching and Doing"——Taking the Handicraft Course of Batik Dyeing as an Example

The curriculum setting is the core for higher tourism education. In this field, American has instructive experiences that are worthy of learning. In this paper, the researcher carries out an investigation to, on the one hand, analyze the university＇ s advanced achievements in majors settings, course structure, and mode of instruction from the aspects of bachelor, master, doctor, and on the other hand to make a prospect of the future development of the curriculum for higher tourism education in China, by using the method of the literature analysis and interview with the College of Hotel Administration at Cornell University as an example case.

British Tourism Higher Education Curriculum and Education System—Taking the University of Surrey as an Example

A reasonable curriculum system and teaching content can make the talent training of tourism higher education institutions more in line with the needs of the tourism industry.As the birthplace of the world's modern tourism industry,the UK has always been at the forefront of tourism development and has become the pillar of the UK.The industry and the tourism industry have a large number of talents.It can be seen that the tourism higher education in the UK must have certain characteristics and advantages to support the development of its tourism industry.Therefore,this paper takes the comparatively mature university of the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom as an example.Through the analysis of the education system and curriculum of the tourism-related departments,it is found that the curriculum of tourism higher education in British universities and the characteristics of the education system.And through this analysis,it provides a reference for China's tourism higher education.

The PolyU has cultivated a large number of high-quality professional people for the hotel and tourism industry. Excellent teachers, modem curriculum and the education concept of attaching great importance to the practice are the reasons why it can cultivate senior executives with international perspective, skills and social responsibility.

Attitudes of Future Tourism Sector Employees Towards Organise Accessible Tourism

The aim of this paper is to show a theoretical approach to the evolution of concepts perceiving disability, taking into account the medical, social, and geographical models, as the basis for the development of principles concerning the organisation of accessible tourism for people with disabilities （PWD）. The main research objective was to identify the current attitudes of future, potential employees in the tourism （tourism and recreation students at the time of the study） towards accessible tourism. The study was based on surveys performed in May 2013 at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznafi （UAM, Poland） and the State University in Irkutsk （HFY, Russia）, a total sample of 216 people. The main section of the survey contained four questions regarding issues such as： optimal ways to organise tourism products for people with a disability; attitudes towards spending leisure time together with people with a disability; and specific requirements concerning the introduction of various types of improvements in tourism products aimed at people with a disability. In both cases, the results revealed that future tourism employees hold attitudes which are prevailingly open and positive towards the needs of tourists with disabilities. However, the hypothesis that the main factor influencing a reluctance to enter into contact with PwD is a lack of experience in this area, resulting in insufficient knowledge of what conditions the behaviour of PwD was also confirmed. This is a highly significant conclusion which should consider if mandatory educational programmes in the field of tourism and recreation studies are to be improved.
