The development of relic and museum tourism products is not only the inheritanceof culture and the protection of cultural relics, but also the promotion of tourism consumption under thebackground of cultural tourism integration, which has promoted the development of regional economy.With the relic and museum tourism resources in Shandong Province as the research object, through theanalysis of its resources, market and products, this paper put forward three applicable modes of relic andmuseum tourism product development, including independent development, joint development, and artauthorization, and proposed specific suggestions around the three modes. 展开更多

Taking Zhaoyu Historical City in Qixian County as an example,this paper explores the production process of tourism space in Zhaoyu Historical City in the context of consumption,based on Lefebvre's triadic dialectic theory.The study reveals that,driven by the development of tourism,subjects such as the government and planners possess absolute dominance over spatial representations,while residents demonstrate receptive and adaptive action strategies and social relations are reproduced,presenting a harmonious state.Further exploring the tourism community in the environmental performance of the subject of action,social relations,consumption demand,daily life practice,cultural capital,etc.,the daily life practice of the tourism community has transcended the original logic of tourism spatial production and has a certain extension.The mechanism analysis in this paper can help guide the healthy development of tourism space in the neighboring historical cities or communities and achieve the dual purpose of promoting the economic development of the community and heritage protection. 展开更多

Due to the prevalence of modern commerce and mainstream culture, many indigenous cultures around the world are rapidly diminishing. These cultures, with their unique primitiveness distinct from modern culture, often attract tourists. This study integrates the indigenous Yami culture of Lanyu Island, Taiwan Region, into innovative designs from the perspective of tourists’ understanding of the local culture. In this way, tourists can experience the harmonious coexistence of the Yami tribe and nature, while these culturally rich products foster deeper experiential and emotional resonance. This study employs the Mandala thinking method for concept expansion and the Osborn checklist method for the analysis and transformation of design elements. Subsequently, designers were invited to conduct on-site travel experiences, leading to the creation of a series of Yami cultural products. Through the evaluation and validation of cultural product assessment indicators, functional commercialized products were ultimately produced. This study aims to establish a design process for cultural products through this design case. It seeks to help users recall their Lanyu Island travel experiences and appreciate the often-overlooked cultural beauty, thereby raising awareness of cultural preservation. 展开更多

Thus, the general law of the influence of external factors on the product value could be drawn. Characteristics of the value of tourism creative products is contrasted to analyze the requirement motivation of consumers and to seek the ways of realization for products value with the influence of regional culture.The mathematical evaluation model was employed for evidence.Based on the model,the influencing factors of the value of different types of creative products were explored, which would provide theories and enlightenment for the co-creation and appreciation of creative products in the future. 展开更多

The 21st century is the era of marine economy.The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development and utilization of marine resources.With the support of national marine policies,the development of marine tourism industry in Yantai has changed with each passing day,and the content of tourism products developed by Yantai is also constantly innovating.In this study,by using literature research,data analysis and other methods,the development of marine tourism resources in Yantai was analyzed.The results show that the marine tourism products in Yantai are not well-known,less competitive,and are difficult to form a scale advantage.Therefore,some measures to promote the development of tourism industry in Yantai were proposed,such as optimizing and upgrading marine tourism products in Yantai,strengthening regional cooperation to increase product awareness,improving the structure scale of products in scenic spots to enhance competitiveness,attaching importance to the application of science and technology and strengthening product innovation. 展开更多

Scott (2000) stresses the requirement of aesthetic and semiotic content in a creative product, instead of creativity. But, how many of retailers and salespersons in heritage product believe the semiotic as knowledge to present the product and opportunities in their selling? According to Kotler (2000) a good personal selling will provide a detailed explanation or demonstration of the product. The message can be varied by the salesperson to fit the motivations and interests or each prospective customer. So, the purpose of this paper is to closely examine the level of awareness among retailers and salesperson toward the important of semiotic knowledge as part of strategic persuasion in a selling process. But researches on tourism resource productivity are limited. The most significant influencing factor on tourism resource productivity is the potential market scale of tourist locations, and second most important influencing factor is the resource endowment. Regional urban population is significantly correlated with region tourist numbers, being the decisive factor of region potential tour market scale. In tourism development, the dual model should be adopted: on one hand to enhance tour spot attractiveness, on the other hand to cultivate the potential market by improving urbanization level and other means. In the situation of tourism development fever spreading, the dual model for improving tourism productivity helps to avoid the "Great Leap Forward" which means that too rapid tourism construction divorces from actual market demand. 展开更多

Normative Versus Perceptual Gap Analysis of Hotel Product Quality as a Service to Tourism in Kenya

Kenya's tourism business stagnated from 1991 to 2003 and only registered small but steady grew from 2004. One of the sectors that recorded poor performance as a result of the slow growth of tourism is the hotel business. Despite this slack, stakeholders in Kenya have not tried to assess the extent to which the quality of this sector may impact on destination preference. The ultimate purpose of this research was to establish the quality gap between the expected and the perceived hotel product/service quality from both the perspective of the tourists and the hotel operators in Kenya. It was motivated by the need to create parameters that can elavate the competitiveness of Kenya's tourism using the hotel product/service quality offer. Descriptive quantitative research design was used to establish the secondary objectives and to assess two propositions set for the study. A sample of 211 tourists and 19 hotel operators in two major tourist provinces of Kenya was used to obtain information regarding normative and perceptive hotel product/service quality. Kenya's only destination marketing organisation, Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) marketers were also surveyed to provide insight on Kenya's destination position with regard to the motivation of tourists to visit Kenya. The study established that although the attractions which make tourists come to Kenya are the unique wildlife safari, beach tourism and the natural scenery, hotel product quality and hospitality plays a vital role in motivating tourists to choose Kenya as the destination to visit. However, this study found out that while the tourists and hotel operators agree on the normative hotel product quality level, there is a significant gap between the normative quality and the perceptual quality registered by tourists who used hotel services. The study established that hotel operators only recognize quality regulatory institutions with statutory and legal authority to incriminate facilities that do not comply with laid down operational requirements such as Hotels and Restaurants Authority and the Local Authority Public Health Department. The study has proposed an integrated framework that may be utilized to build a superior national hotel product/service quality so that the economic potential of tourism is maximized in Kenya. 展开更多

In this research project,we focus on sports hospitality at the Rugby World Cup 2019 as a practical example of the qualitative pursuit of sports tourism in the Japanese tourism industry.STH Japan K.K.,Japan’s first company specializing in sports hospitality,hosted the first mega sports event held in Japan.A similar spectator service will next be implemented at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.Sports hospitality is a new way to enjoy watching sports by adding a meal and entertainment before and after the match to the event ticket.Positioning and using sports hospitality as a tourism experience product,we can use qualitatively designed creative and effective methods that professional human resources could provide to tourists.This research project provides an overview of tourism experience products,looks at their economic effects at the Rugby World Cup 2019,and the sales results of the sports hospitality at the event.I conducted an observation survey at the Rugby World Cup 2019 Scotland vs.Samoa match held at Misaki Park Stadium(Kobe,Hyogo)on September 30,2019 focusing only on tourism products in that framework.I also conducted a qualitative survey on March 18,2020 in a semi-structured interview format with STH Japan K.K.senior advisors.The research results revealed the possibility of eliminating overtourism in spectator sports and the lack of sports hospitality spaces in Japan.Usually,when watching a sports match where many spectators gather,the uniform start and end times cause crowding and overtourism.The conventional challenge has been to create tourism products that reduce congestion and provide an enjoyable tourism experience.Sports hospitality is effective for relieving the stress caused by overtourism in spectator sports.In order to solve the shortage of sports hospitality spaces,one issue to consider is the deregulation by the government. 展开更多

For a long time,it has been argued that the theories and practices devoted to urban planning and management should conform to the fundamental role of planning policies in the production of urban space,but not merely the spatial distribution of the produced services.Towards this wider connotation,this study introduces the notion of Railwayscape,grounded on the theory of‘The Production of Space’,to examine the role of railway station districts as catalysts of urban development through the social production of urban space.The present research sets out to establish the notion of Railwayscape and apply it in a railway heritage,i.e.,the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway(DHR)and its point of inception,Siliguri City,India.Accordingly,a criteria-based evaluation of four railway station districts(New Jalpaiguri,Siliguri Town,Siliguri Junction,and Sukna)in Siliguri and its surroundings was performed.The information regarding the selected four railway station districts is obtained through field observation and key informant consultation,supplemented by published literature and remote sensing data.This evaluation is succeeded by the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats(SWOT)analysis accentuating the potential strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats associated with the selected four railway station districts and their prospects to become the potential Railwayscape.The results of this research show that there is no railway station district in Siliguri that can fully meet the demands of the locals and tourists,therefore,relfecting a lack of awareness of the historical values of these districts.The results also indicate that there are significant differences in the relative potentials of railway station districts to become the Railwayscape in urban environment.The outcomes of this research,therefore,are expected to encourage policy-making insitutions and practitioners to realise the‘place value’of some railway station districts and their potentials to yield better economic,social and structural virtue for a wide range of actors. 展开更多

In recent years, leisure tourism has become arapidly growing sunrise industry as a result of the gradual increase in Chinese income. Such increase became evident in the 80sand 90s, when consumption attitudes changed. Furthermore, the Internet and e-commerce have also grown very quickly.Consequently, the natural integration of tourism and e-commerce occurred. From 2004 to 2014, e-commerce websites devoted toChinese tourism emerged continuously, and the industry scale expanded unceasingly. Gradually, e-commerce captured thetraditional offline travel agency's market share. The pattern of industrial upgrading in tourism has become the current trend.However, some problems and contradictions also exist in the development of e-commerce in the tourism industry, and manytourism websites that once flourished had their ups and downs and even declined amidst the competition. This decline has beenbrought about by the failure of some tourism enterprises to grasp the purchase intention of customers and to enhance their corecompetitiveness according to the actual demands of their users. Thus, this empirical study aims to provide a better marketingstrategy policy for online travel managers. The tourism industry is economically very important.According to the World Travel Tourism Council,in 2019,the tourism industry accounted for a quarter of all new jobs created worldwide,10.3%of all jobs,and 9.6×1012 USD of the global gross domestic product.This study aimed to calculate the tourism efficiency index for different Latin American countries from 2010 to 2021 using data envelopment analysis,which analyzes the relationships between input variables(including the number of employees in the tourism industry and the number of hotel-type establishments)and output variables(including tourism expenditures in other countries and public social expenditures in recreation and culture per capita).Additionally,this study aimed to identify the countries with greater tourism development and the factors that may affect the development of the tourism industry through the stochastic frontier production function.The results of the tourism efficiency index for Central America(including Costa Rica,Dominica,El Salvador,Honduras,Mexico,and Panama)and South America(including Argentina,Brazil,Chile,Colombia,Ecuador,Paraguay,Peru,and Uruguay)exhibited different trends.However,after the global health crisis,the tourism industry recovered,showing new opportunities to promote sustainability.The results of the stochastic frontier production function demonstrated that countries with higher levels of inbound and outbound tourism,contribution of tourism to the economy,natural resources,and literacy rate exhibited more efficient tourism industry,whereas countries with higher pollution levels exhibited less efficient tourism industry.The findings of this study could allow us to formulate suitable public policies to promote tourism,maintain natural resources,and diversify these sectors with more inclusive programmes that can facilitate growth and benefit vulnerable communities. 展开更多
