As a consequence, Chiang Rai has targeted to promote and develop cultural tourism in order to attract more foreign tourists to visit and satisfy their needs and expectations, which is seen as one of the most important aspects in the current tourism development strategies in Chiang Rai. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to compare the gap between pre- and post-experience of foreign tourists who visited Chiang Rai towards their expectation and experience on" (1) arts and crafts; (2) life style of local people; (3) local food; (4) festivals and local traditions; (5) ethnic/indigenous life style and culture; and (6) cultural heritage. The quantitative approach has been chosen to conduct the study by using a questionnaire with 400 foreign tourists and One-way ANOVA was the statistic used for gap analysis between tourist expectation and experience. The data collection included the analysis of government documents and the relevant literature. The ~mding of the study illustrated that cultural tourism plays an important role in tourism development in Chiang Rai and the gap between pre- and post-experience of tourists. However, in order to minimize the gap between pre- and post-experience of tourists and maximize their expectation and satisfaction, both government and private sectors should have an in-depth understanding towards the management of cultural tourism. The tourist needs more quality cultural products and foreign language skills from staffand local people.展开更多

The commodification of cultural heritage has positive implications to encourage the creativity of cultural artists and aboriginal in creating variants of cultural products as an improvement of prosperity;however,it ca...The commodification of cultural heritage has positive implications to encourage the creativity of cultural artists and aboriginal in creating variants of cultural products as an improvement of prosperity;however,it can also has negative implications,such as a shift or loss of the essence of cultural and religious sounds that is able to lead to conflict,natural destruction,sexual services,and marginalization.The negative implications can be overcome by the participatory of all stakeholders in preserving the sustainability of cultural heritage as touristic.This study focused on three issues.Firstly,the patterns of aboriginals’participatory in preserving cultural heritage as a touritic.Secondly,the level of aboriginals’response to tourists.Thirdly,the aboriginals’complaint in preserving cultural heritage as a touristic.In accordance with these problems,the operational definition of study is the concept of cultural heritage tourism,tourist attraction,aboriginal,and traditional village of Bena.The theoretical review used to analyze the problem is community participatory theory in tourism development by Tosun and Irridex theory of attitude change of aboriginal by Doxey.This qualitative descriptive study is located in traditional village of Bena,Bajawa,Ngada Regency,East Nusa Tenggara with the selection of informants who understand the problem.The results of the study indicate that the aboriginals’participatory is spontaneous.The level of aboriginals’response is apathy level.The several complaints in preserving cultural heritage involving a great expense of traditional house maintenance,the processing time of traditional woven and the emergence of modern ja’i dance and music.展开更多

This paper explores the relationshipbetween tourists' perceived value (PV) of and their future intentions to creative tourism attractions. The study wasconducted at Gede Ruins in Kenya's North Coast targeting both international and domestic tourists visiting thearcheological site. The study systematically sampled 186 tourists who had consumed and participated in tourismactivities at departure points. The result showed that PV was a useful variable to explain customer satisfaction andpredict tourists' future intentions to creative tourism attractions. The findings of the study provide insight to theways tourists perceive creative attractions, and highlight the importance of creative tourism managers in providingan environment for tourists to actively engage creatively at the destination. It is suggested that creative tourismmanagers must understand why tourists want to visit creative tourism destinations, their perceptions duringconsumption and what they value after consumption, and be able to predict their future intentions.展开更多
