Temple of the Three Sus,which was first established during the Yuan Dynasty,features a natural,unrestrained,and classically elegant garden architectural style.This paper discusses the multiple characteristics and meanings of traditional architectural decorative patterns at Temple of the Three Sus from a semiotic perspective.First,it analyzes the denotative aspects of these patterns,including their stylistic forms,structural frameworks,and craftsmanship techniques.Second,the paper classifies the traditional architectural decorative patterns of the Temple of the Three Sus based on the types of sources of these patterns and interprets the implied meanings of each.Finally,the paper explores the application of these traditional decorative patterns in modern urban design,specifically in Meishan City,discussing the inheritance and innovation of these patterns in contemporary urban design and emphasizing the importance of integrating tradition with modernity.

Application of Facade Decorative Arts of Traditional Architecture in Archaistic Blocks:A Case Study of Shengjinta Food Street in Nanchang City

Architectural decoration is a key demonstration of architectural styles, and traditional Chinese architectural forms originating from diversified architectural decorative arts. This paper explored facade decorative art of traditional architecture from the perspectives of carving art decoration, roof type, stylobate and railing, window and door type, and ground pavement, and also elaborated artistic methods of different forms in each aspect. On the basis of investigating Shengjinta historic and archaistic block, the paper also introduced application of decorative arts, and provided references for applying facade decorative arts of traditional architecture in the future archaistic blocks.

Produced in China’s physical environment, traditional Chinese residential architecture is restrained by socialfactors and adapts itself to the natural economy. Physical geographical environment does not solely shape architecturalstyles. However, in the self-sufficient economy era, it deeply influenced the culture of traditional Chinese residential architecture. This thesis discuss ragional influence of climate on the spatial patterns and styles of residential architecture; italso analyzes the influence of landforms and water systems on architectural landscapes and local housing selections. Geologyand botany play another important role in forming local features and improving microenvironment around builidings. Withthe comprehensive effects of all elements that take climate as the key one, architectural styles differ evidently in various regions. On the above basis, analysis is made to find the view of nature of traditional residential architecture culture with theconnotative views of utility, aesthetic perception and ecology. By analyzing the effects of physical geographical factors onChina’s residential architecture and exploring the natural view in its cultural and spiritual aspects, some enlightenmentmay be gained to protect protecal environment and realize harmony among man, architecture and environment, thus developing the culture of modern residential architecture with local flavor and characteristics.

Enlightenment from Traditional Architecture for Modern Architecture

Rapid development of construction industry in China leads to similar images of all buildings, characteristics of Chinese buildings are not well expressed, so exploration of traditional Chinese architectural structure and relevant contents becomes extremely important. Enlightenment from traditional Chinese architecture for modern architecture was elaborated from 4 perspectives of ancient Chinese architectural culture, technology, group layout and regionality. Architectural Skyline Based on Traditional Architecture Aesthetics Perspective

Architectural skyline is an important part of urban landscape, also is the most direct expression of "first impression". However, with the development of the city, the shaping of the skyline that is contrary to the concept of aesthetics and the position of skyline in the urban form has been gradually ignored. Based on the interpretation of traditional architecture aesthetics theories, the paper introduced its rules as a guide into the development of city architectural skyline, analyzed and concluded the aesthetic characteristics of architectural skyline from the aspects of architectural form and naturalism. It provided theoretical guidance and method reference in the consideration of the creation and development on the city architectural skyline.

Light and color therapy: the role of light and color in architecture from the perspective of traditional Persian medicine

Some of the most important elements of healing architecture are light and color,which have been considered in diverse studies of environmental design for treatment and an effect on health.However,there is a lack of research in the field of the proportion of light and color with human differences.The goal of the present research is to provide a new perspective regarding the correlation between humans and the environment based on the philosophy of natural sciences in Iranian traditional medicine,with a focus on color and light to contrive an all-out balance of humans.The present article establishes a connection between traditional and modern medicine;it also indicates medical and health activists to draw their attention to the need for basic researches in traditional Iranian medicine to improve it based on scientific evidence as well as change the attitude of architects to design places based on people’s temperament(in traditional Persian medicine,temperament implies the same and new quality that results from the combination of the four elements(fire,air,water,and earth are four essential constituents of human and non-human beings)with each other and with their interaction in a composite body).This article is a descriptive method in a qualitative study that discuss elements of light and color from the perspective of traditional Persian medicine,after reviewing the history of color and light therapy.From the perspective of modern research,the study additionally discusses the effect of light and color on humans,the relationship of light and color with the temperament of people,and the effect of environmental color and light on people’s temperament.Notably,humans differ with regard to their characteristics and thus have different temperaments,which causes them to have different tendencies toward environmental factors.Qualitative data indicate the difference in the propensity of individuals to color and light according to a physical and psychological condition,and the effect of color and light on human temperament.Thus,the recommendations of traditional medicine can help present a proper pattern of design.

Poetic and Pictorial Splendor-Expression of Traditional Chinese Literati in Chinese Architecture

The expression of traditional Chinese literati is based on connection, seeking emotion and harmony. With various forms, though, this style of expression shares the same value in some art forms, like traditional Chinese poetry, calligraphy and paintings, and Chinese architecture. Based on the commonalities of various forms of literature and art, this paper offered an insight into Chinese architecture in light of poetic and pictorial expression of traditional Chinese literati. In order to illuminate the corresponding connection between traditional Chinese poetry, calligraphy and paintings, and Chinese architecture, this paper discussed the expression of Chinese architecture corresponding to the essence of traditional Chinese poetry, calligraphy and paintings respectively from the perspective of philosophy, aesthetics, and culture study of Chinese architecture. Via analogous analysis, which includes the analogy between the emotion of architecture and the feelings in traditional poetry, the analogy between the order of architecture and the spirit of calligraphy, and the analogy between the artistic conception and the picturesque scene, the poetic and pictorial expression of Chinese architecture was clarified. This paper emphasized that Chinese architecture needs to jump out of the concrete image, eradicate the interdisciplinary boundaries, and stress the integration of arts and humanities in a higher level, to express Chinese architecture in a Chinese way. That means making Chinese architecture modern in forms and techniques, and traditional in spirit and artistic conception.

Regional Characteristics of Architectural Colors in Traditional Villages:A Case Study of Linpu Village,Fuzhou City

Linpu Village of Fuzhou City was selected for research,colors of representative buildings there including ancient dwellings,ancestral halls,and temples were analyzed using field research,color atla comparison,data collection,and analysis and induction,in accordance with the Chinese Color System,the color composition of each type of building was summarized.Regional characteristics and causes of the architectural color of Linpu Village were further explored analyzing the geographical location,local customs and practices,and architectural functions of the village.Finally,according to the dual requirements of building beautiful villages and cultural heritage protection,suggestions for establishing color standards for buildings in traditional villages were put forward.

Inheritance of Traditional Architectural Culture in the Construction of Characteristic Towns: A Case Study of Qianhouwan Village History and Culture Exhibition Hall in Sanjiang Town, Nanchang County

The construction of characteristic towns is in full swing under the guidance of policies.There have been many outstanding achievements,but many problems are also exposed.Especially for towns with traditional ancient villages,when characteristic towns are built,there is not enough attention to the original traditional architectural culture,or the style is inconsistent and uncoordinated after construction.Based on this,taking the construction of history and culture exhibition hall of Qianhouwan Village in Sanjiang Town of Nanchang County as an example,this paper introduces the design and actual construction situation,and elaborates the inheritance of traditional architectural culture under the background of characteristic town construction in Sanjiang Town.

Promoting the Heritage of Traditional Architectural Technology with Vocational Education

Traditional architectural technology is faced with risks of dying out despite it being an indispensable part of architectural heritages. The integrated teaching mode of "teaching, learning, and doing", which is advocated by vocational education and which is characterized by an emphasis on the cultivation of professional skills and practical abilities of students, corresponds to the severe training and hammering required for the heritage of traditional architectural technology. Some certain results have been achieved in the experimental teaching while deficiencies have been revealed as well. In response to these deficiencies, the study took the Metropolitan Construction Engineering Department of Guangzhou City Polytechnic for example to discuss the teaching mode of traditional architectural technology in vocational col eges.

The Integration of Traditional Tibetan Architectural Elements with Modern Landscape Planning and Design

In this paper, the survey method was used to systematically analyze the buildings and landscape gardens in Tibet, the characteristics of traditional Tibetan architectural elements and the regional cultural significance they contain, as well as the status and trends of modern landscape planning and design were studied. The results showed that there were many unique elements in the traditional Tibetan architecture as the carrier of traditional regional culture, including the Tibetan architectural and decorative components, Tibetan paintings and symbols, and Tibetan architectural colors. By extracting these traditional Tibetan architectural elements and age-old and unique regional culture, and integrating them with modern landscape planning and design, and displaying them in modern, human and diverse ways, traditional Tibetan architecture elements and culture could be better inherited and developed.

Clues for Architectural Education： Flexibility in Traditional and Modern Turkish House

Traditional Turkish house which characterized with its original shape of the room, plan layout, construction and roof forms has two main spaces as ＂sofa＂ （common space） and the ＂room＂ differentiate it from the houses in different geographies. The flexibility of the room in traditional Turkish house is characterized with its fixed-in-furniture, which supplies all necessities of a person in a house. This paper will discuss the similarities and differences in use of space between traditional Turkish houses and today＇s flats in apartments. The comprehensions will be made through the field works on traditional houses and with the projects of architecture students in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanhul. The concept of the students＇ projects is redesigning their own houses. Since the students come from different regions of Turkey, their houses have both similar and different spatial characteristics. Whether the cultural identity of the user plays a role in use of living space will be discussed. The aim of this study is to put the relation between the past and today＇s use of interior spaces of Turkish houses.

Analysis of Architectural Art of Traditional Ancestral Hall in Ji’an Meibei Village,Jiangxi Province

The traditional architecture in Ji’an area of Jiangxi Province is known for its ancient style,dignified,and grand,distinctive hierarchy,staggered,exquisite structure,carved beams,and painted buildings,and has a long history,so that the traditional architectural form and artistic style of the region has formed a strong regional characteristics,so the authors chose the traditional ancestral hall architecture in the region as the object of study.First of all,the basic information of traditional architecture,history,and culture in Meibei ancient village in Ji’an region was collected.Secondly,using field research method,data measurement,image collection,and relevant drawings were made for traditional ancestral hall architecture in Meibei ancient village,including the architectural form,decoration,etc.of“Yongmu Hall”and“Quzhi Hall”.Finally,we analyzed,compared,and researched these representative ancestral halls in a more systematic way with the theory of art class,and came to a more objective conclusion on the artistic characteristics of ancestral hall architecture.At the same time,the research and communication of this research can enhance people’s understanding of traditional architectural culture and aesthetic inculcation in Meibei ancient village,but also for further research of Ji’an traditional residential architecture and art and inheritance and promotion of traditional national culture to provide reference.

Discussion on Cultural Characteristics of Landscape Architecture in Qinhuangdao

Landscape culture was the quintessence of landscape art. In the past 2 000 years, Qinhuangdao had accumulated rich cultural connotation. As cultural carrier, landscape architecture of Qinhuangdao displayed distinct cultural characteristics. Landscape culture of Qinhuangdao not only manifested in traditional culture and coastal culture, but also involved sports and Olympic culture, ecological culture and high-tech culture. So it was multi-culture with prominent features. In terms of protection and exploration of landscape culture of Qinhuangdao, it should reflect more sports spirit while the main feature of traditional culture and coastal culture was highlighted, so as to enhance the construction of ecological garden in Qinhuangdao and further apply modern technologies in landscape architecture.
