Undefined level of education, lack of standardized training curriculum, and lack of barrier to the guiding career have affected the performance of tour guides in Kenya. Limited research in Kenya has been conducted to establish the role of guides in satisfying customer and protecting the environment. The study objective was to examine tour guides' interpretation knowledge and their opinion on areas that require more training so as to improve their performance. The study hypothesized that tour guides' opinions on their training needs are independent on the level of education, work experience and qualification. It is hypothesized that guides require additional training in flora and fauna of East Africa, cultural heritage and customer service. They require training in ICT (Information Communications Technology), eco-tourism principles, and at least one foreign language. The study hypothesizes that the higher the level of a guide's training, the more resourceful the guide will be. The study used qualitative and quantitative research approaches where questionnaires, interviews and focus groups discussion (FGDs) were used to collect the primary data. The finding shows that tour guides' opinions on areas they require further training were independent of their highest level of education, work experience and qualification. Most guides irrespective of their level of education, work experience and qualifications were of the opinion that they needed more training on mammals and plants (χ^2 = 1.07, df= 2, P = 0.583), training on birds and insects (χ^2 = 0.254, df= 2, P = 0.885) and training on culture and history of East Africa (χ^2 = 1.140, df= 2, P = 0.566). Respondents' training needs were independent on the duration of tour guiding course training had taken. Guides trained for less than six months, one year and more than two years agreed that training on foreign language (χ^2 = 4.84, df = 2, P = 0.196), ecotourism principles (χ^2 = 1.62, df = 2, P = 0.653) and tour planning and costing (χ^2 = 399, df = 3, P = 0.262) would improve their performance. The study concludes that tour guides are aware of the areas that they need to be trained and should be consulted before organizing such training. They require more training irrespective of their level of education, certification and work experience. The study recommends tour guide curriculum be standardized and all guides should sit for an exam before they are licensed to guide and only those with such license be allowed to practice guiding.展开更多

However, in practical applications, only limited standard samples with labeled certified concentrations are available. A novel semi-supervised LIBS quantitative analysis method is proposed, based on co-training regression model with selection of effective unlabeled samples. The main idea of the proposed method is to obtain better regression performance by adding effective unlabeled samples in semisupervised learning. First, effective unlabeled samples are selected according to the testing samples by Euclidean metric. Two original regression models based on least squares support vector machine with different parameters are trained by the labeled samples separately, and then the effective unlabeled samples predicted by the two models are used to enlarge the training dataset based on labeling confidence estimation. The final predictions of the proposed method on the testing samples will be determined by weighted combinations of the predictions of two updated regression models. Chromium concentration analysis experiments of 23 certified standard high-alloy steel samples were carried out, in which 5 samples with labeled concentrations and 11 unlabeled samples were used to train the regression models and the remaining 7 samples were used for testing. With the numbers of effective unlabeled samples increasing, the root mean square error of the proposed method went down from 1.80% to 0.84% and the relative prediction error was reduced from 9.15% to 4.04%.展开更多

文摘Acoustic models of railway vehicles in standstill and pass-by conditions can be used as part of a virtual certification process for new trains. For each piece of auxiliary equipment, the sound power measured on a test bench is combined with meas-ured or predicted transfer functions. It is important, however,to allow for installation effects due to shielding by fairings or the train body.In the current work,fast-running analytical models are developed to determine these installation effects. The model for roof-mounted sources takes account of diffraction at the corner of the train body or fairing, using a barrier model. For equipment mounted under the train, the acoustic propagation from the sides of the source is based on free-field Green’s functions. The bottom surfaces are assumed to radiate initially into a cavity under the train, which is modelled with a simple diffuse field approach. The sound emitted from the gaps at the side of the cavity is then assumed to propagate to the receivers according to free-field Green’s functions. Results show good agreement with a 2.5D boundary element model and with measurements.Modelling uncertainty and parametric uncertainty are evaluated. The largest variability occurs due to the height and impedance of the ground, especially for a low receiver. This leads to standard deviations of up to 4 dB at low frequencies. For the roof-mounted sources, uncertainty over the location of the corner used in the equivalent barrier model can also lead to large standard deviations.

Before and after treatment by EEG biofeedback training, the overall indexes of IVA were significantly improved among predominately inattentive, hyperactive, and combined subtype of children with ADHD (P<0.001). It was suggested that EEG biofeedback training was an effective and vital treatment on children with ADHD.
文摘BACKGROUND Chronic heart failure(CHF)is a complex syndrome characterized by a progressive reduction of the left ventricular(LV)contractility, low exercise tolerance, and increased mortality and morbidity.Diastolic dysfunction(DD)of the LV,is a keystone in the pathophysiology of CHF and plays a major role in the progression of most cardiac diseases. Also,it is well estimated that exercise training induces several beneficial effects on patients with CHF.AIM To evaluate the impact of a cardiac rehabilitation program on the DD and LV ejection fraction(EF)in patients with CHF.METHODS Thirty-two stable patients with CHF(age:56±10 years,EF:32%±8%,88%men)participated in an exercise rehabilitation program. They were randomly assigned to aerobic exercise(AER)or combined aerobic and strength training(COM),based on age and peak oxygen uptake,as stratified randomization criteria. Before and after the program, they underwent a symptom-limited maximal cardiopulmonary exercise testing(CPET)and serial echocardiography evaluation to evaluate peak oxygen uptake(VO2peak),peak workload(Wpeak),DD grade, right ventricular systolic pressure(RVSP),and EF.RESULTS The whole cohort improved VO2peak,and Wpeak,as well as DD grade(P<0.05).Overall,9 patients(28.1%)improved DD grade, while 23(71.9%)remained at the same DD grade;this was a significant difference, considering DD grade at baseline(P<0.05).In addition, the whole cohort improved RVSP and EF(P<0.05).Not any between-group differences were observed in the variables assessed(P>0.05).CONCLUSION Exercise rehabilitation improves indices of diastolic and systolic dysfunction.Exercise protocol was not observed to affect outcomes. These results need to be further investigated in larger samples.
文摘The Effect of the thermal cycling training under constant strain on the two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) in a Ti36l\li49Hf15 high temperature shape memory alloy (SMA) has been investigated by bending tests. The results indicated that the training procedure is beneficial to get the better TWSME. The two-way shape memory strain increases with increasing the training strain. And it decreases with increasing the training temperature. The TWSME obtained in the present alloy shows poorer stability compared with that obtained in the TiNi alloys.

文摘It is important for a completive tourism destination to ensure that tourists get the company of a professional tour guide who guides and interprets attraction in the areas visited. The study recommends tour guide curriculum be standardized and all guides should sit for an exam before they are licensed to guide and only those with such license be allowed to practice guiding.

文摘Purpose-This paper aims to analyze the bearing characteristics of the high speed train window glass under aerodynamic load effects.Design/methodology/approach-In order to obtain the dynamic strain response of passenger compartment window glass during high-speed train crossing the tunnel, taking the passenger compartment window glass of the CRH3 high speed train onWuhan-Guangzhou High Speed Railway as the research object, this study tests the strain dynamic response and maximum principal stress of the high speed train passing through the tunnel entrance and exit, the tunnel and tunnel groups as well as trains meeting in the tunnel at an average speed of 300 km$h-1.Findings-The results show that while crossing the tunnel, the passenger compartment window glass of high speed train is subjected to the alternating action of positive and negative air pressures, which shows the typical mechanic characteristics of the alternating fatigue stress of positive-negative transient strain. The maximum principal stress of passenger compartment window glass for high speed train caused by tunnel aerodynamic effects does not exceed 5 MPa,and the maximum value occurs at the corresponding time of crossing the tunnel groups. The high speed train window glass bears medium and low strain rates under the action of tunnel aerodynamic effects, while the maximum strain rate occurs at the meeting moment when the window glass meets the train head approaching from the opposite side in the tunnel. The shear modulus of laminated glass PVB film that makes up high speed train window glass is sensitive to the temperature and action time. The dynamically equivalent thickness and stiffness of the laminated glass and the dynamic bearing capacity of the window glass decrease with the increase of the action time under tunnel aerodynamic pressure. Thus, the influence of the loading action time and fatigue under tunnel aerodynamic effects on the glass strength should be considered in the design for the bearing performance of high speed train window glass.Originality/value-The research results provide data support for the analysis of mechanical characteristics, damage mechanism, strength design and structural optimization of high speed train glass.

文摘The accuracy of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) quantitative method is greatly dependent on the amount of certified standard samples used for training. With the numbers of effective unlabeled samples increasing, the root mean square error of the proposed method went down from 1.80% to 0.84% and the relative prediction error was reduced from 9.15% to 4.04%.
