With the advancement of technology,exploring the impact of digital transformation on vocational education English teaching has become crucial.This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of digital transformation in English teaching in vocational education in China by exploring students’and teachers’attitudes,views,and experiences on the use of digital technology in English teaching.This study employed a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative analysis.The research results indicate that digital transformation has had a positive impact on vocational education English teaching,as it enhances the teaching process,promotes communication and collaboration,and increases students’enthusiasm and participation.However,implementing digital transformation in vocational education English teaching also poses challenges,including a lack of resources,infrastructure,and training.This study provides an in-depth understanding of the advantages and challenges of digital transformation in vocational education English teaching and proposes strategies to improve the implementation of digital technology in this context.

Digital Transformation of Higher Education:History and Consensus,Trends and Experiences,Issues and Challenges

The rapid development of new-generation information technology has triggered the evolution of education and teaching towards digitalization,accelerating the digital transformation of higher education and bringing an important opportunity for the high-quality development of higher education.Firstly,we give an overview of the digital development of higher education and discuss how information technology is reshaping the teaching and learning of higher education.Secondly,we explain the consensus on the digital development of higher education,and focus on summarizing the digital achievements of higher education in China and analyzing the successful experience through the introduction of the digital development trend of higher education in the world.Finally,we point out the current problems and challenges and make a preliminary discussion.Digital empowerment has arrived,and in the era of digitization,the transformation and development of higher education will lead to systemic changes in universities.This is an inevitable stage in the process of higher education development.Digital transformation will drive higher education to be more competitive,inclusive,and accessible,enabling universities to unleash their digital vitality in various service functions and contribute to the construction of a digital China.

Research on the Path of Digital Transformation of Postgraduate Education in Chinese Universities under the Background of Digital Education Strategy

Digital transformation of education is an important strategic content of information construction in Chinese universities in recent years. Postgraduate education is characterized by many types of postgraduates, complex training links, long training process, and obvious individuation. Its information construction and digital transformation are the difficulties in the construction of smart campus in colleges and universities. This paper discusses the current situation and main problems of postgraduate education informatization in colleges and universities, and puts forward the key points and suggestions of digital transformation of postgraduate education in colleges and universities from the aspects of optimizing the information platform of postgraduate education management and service, driving the modernization and wisdom of postgraduate education with data, constructing the integrated platform of intelligent teaching, and continuously improving the digital literacy of teachers and students.

Research on the Transformation and Development of Universities under the Combination of Science and Education and the Combination of Production and Education

The research on the transformation and development of colleges and universities in China involves the connotation,causes,target orientation,content and conditions,problems encountered in the transformation and development.Therefore,the author studies the transformation and development of Universities under the integration of education,industry and education.The research shows that the development of integration of general vocational education is the basic feature of Applied Undergraduate education,the development of integration of industry and education is the basic way of Applied Undergraduate education,and the development of integration of science and education is the basic law of Applied Undergraduate education.Colleges and universities must grasp the transformational development path of integration of science and education,integration of production and education,and clarify the orientation of running schools for the local economic development and the development of disciplines to connect regional industries.

Competency and constraints of higher education and research institutions for rural transformation in the <i>Amhara</i>region, Ethiopia

Ethiopia is an agrarian country and agriculture is the backbone of its economy. Consequently, the government of Ethiopia has devised Agricultural Development Led Industrialization (ADLI) as the country’s overall economic development policy. For the last 15 years, public investment towards the expansion of higher education, research and extension in agriculture has been so enormous. In reality, however, these higher education and research institutions were not sufficiently responsive to rural transformation. Thus, to evaluate the role of higher education and research institutions in stimulating rural transformation and to identify main training constraints accountable for their poor performances in institutional learning and rural transformation is of paramount importance. To this effect focus group discussions and key informant interviews were conducted. Stratified and purposive sampling technique was dominantly employed during the survey studies. The result of the study has shown that higher education and research institutions were less responsive to address the actual problems of small-scale farmers and they were limited by a number of constraints/challenges to address the actual problems of farmers. The major constraints were, to list some, limited involvement in research and extension works by the university staff, students limited practical attachments of the training programmes with farming communities, limited infrastructures and facilities and limited availability of contextualized learning resources. In addressing the aforesaid constraints/challenges, the university staff should proportionally allocate time in the research and extension activities on top of practical teaching supported by local research results and experience;involving students on practical attachments both in their academic and vacation time;giving emphasis on basic training preparation like fulfilling libraries, laboratories, demonstration fields and transportation facilities;and lastly to revise the existing curriculum in to the direction of solving the real problems of the Amhara region then the country Ethiopia.

Relating mechanisms of higher education and research closely to the reality in the society for rural transformation in the <i>Amhara</i>region, Ethiopia

Higher education and research in Ethiopia is going through a decisive phase of reform and expansion. As a system it is increasingly required to respond and gear adequately to the development needs of the society and the country. This change is taking place through a government-led radical review of the system’s status and challenges, and by devising mechanisms of consensus building, as well as ownership and overcoming the resistance to change. Higher education and research institutions of Bahir Dar and Gondar Universities and ARARI, in Ethiopia are not satisfactorily responsive to rural transformation in addressing problems of small-scale farmers. This calls for responsive education and research that addresses farmers’ constraints. Thus, to survey the suitability/appropriateness of the current training programmes of higher education and research institutions to address the actual problems of farmers is of paramount importance. To this effect, tools such as interview guide, checklist and questionnaires were put to use for data collection. Primary data was collected from observation, focus group discussions and key informant interviews. Descriptive statistics for quantitative data and triangulation for qualitative data were the prime techniques for data analysis. The result of the study shows that university heads, instructors, students, research heads, researchers and employees rated the suggested mechanisms, namely “inviting speakers from industries and farming community”, “visiting guest lecturers” and “special entrepreneurial project”, as the top most important for ensuring training and research closely to the reality in the society of Amhara region in facilitating agricultural growth and rural transformation. Besides, employers and farmers responded that fresh graduates are deficient with relevant technical skills because of less emphasis on experiential learning on higher education. Therefore, the curriculum for the training should give much weight to incorporate these suggested mechanisms and the higher institutions curriculum should be arranged in such a way that the trainees could obtain appropriate technical know-how.

This paper is a study on the compulsion of transformational leadership from the part of the principal of this era when the demography of the students are changing exponentially, when the globe is experiencing massive changes in methods and techniques in educational process but the institutions remain the same as its ethics and operational strategies. The time is eloping when an educational head earns praises due to their prominence and performance in managerial functioning. But this paper tends to focus on several persisting challenges in these educational institutions like huge gap between teacher-student ratio, students’ increasing technological oriented learning, teachers’ lack of knowledge of multimedia class operation, girls’ little rate of enrolment in higher level of education, early marriage of school going girls and ensuring quality education to girls as per the demand of SDG 4 by 2030. This paper fosters the idea that a transformational head of the institution can be successful in this chase of challenges as he involves everyone to activities in order to reach goal. He works with the other members as a team member and thus a challenge of an institution turns to be liability to all.

Reconstruction of Teachers’Competencies:A Key Support for the Digital Transformation in Education

With the adoption of competency reconstructing path of functional analysis in the organizational behavior theory,and the consideration of the core mission and attributes of educational organizations plus the urgency for digital transformation,this paper concludes four pillar competencies for teachers:curriculum development and teaching competency,human-computer collaboration competency,effective moral education competency,and self-growth competency.From the perspective of supporting the digital transformation in education,curriculum development and teaching competency is the premise and guarantee of“learning-centered”;and human-computer collaboration competency is the transformation direction of teachers’information and communications technology capabilities in smart environments;effective moral education competency determines the primary role of teachers in the process of digital transformation;and self-growth competency is the purpose and means of digital existence.Teacher education needs to face up to the current problems in teacher capacity development and reshape teacher education around the core competencies required by digital transformation.

High-Quality Development Path of Digital Transformation Enabling Basic Education:Taking the National Information-Based Teaching Experimental Areas as an Example

Under the background of rapid development of“digital China,”digital economy,and information technology,how to promote digital transformation in education is an important issue in education.Basic education is in urgent need of guidance for the paths to digital transformation.The paper analyzes the main connotation of digital transformation in education,classifies and summarizes the effects and problems of the exploration and practice of the national information-based teaching experimental areas.On this basis,the paper brings forth the path of digital transformation with continuous iteration as the core concept:Basic education organizations should make clear of the objectives of education development,choose and determine specific paths and measures in terms of the construction of the institutional system and digital capabilities according to their own realities,and promote their implementation.After the implementation for a period,these organizations should,according to the objectives of their work,research and judge the effectiveness of the paths,promptly adjust the paths and measures,and continuously promote their implementation.Through continuous iteration and optimization,basic education organizations will effectively accelerate the process of digital transformation in education and incessantly march toward the objectives of educational work.Finally,the paper,through a case study of the administrative departments of basic education,proposes specific suggestions for stepping up high-quality development of basic education.

Sectoral standards publicized at World Digital Education Conference

Themed“Digital Transformation and Future of Education”,the World Digital Education Conference was held in Beijing on Februar y 13-14.Fruitful achievements in education were announced,including sectoral standards for the digitalization of education.Focusing on platform,data,resources and literacy,7 sectoral standards were publicized during the conference.In terms of education platform,JY/T 0641-2022,Smart education platform—Basic functional requirements,specifies the fundamental functions of all kinds of smart education platforms at all levels,providing pivotal reference for the establishment and management of smart education system.

Institutional innovation and systematic construction of teacher education in the transformational period

Teacher education in China has entered an important period of transformation which requires institutional innovation and systematic construction.Teacher education institutions should be gradually reshaped to meet the needs of elementary and secondary schools that are run on an autonomous basis.A system of teaching qualification certification and teacher education institution accreditation should be established.Further,a system of curriculum appraisal of teacher education as well as the performance assessment of teacher education institutions should also be set up.In the meantime,making corresponding policies is necessary to accommodate the reform and development of teacher education.

The Transformation of China’s Key Science and Technology Universities in the Move to Mass Higher Education

China’s key science and technology universities are modelled on the FrenchÉcole Polytechnique.As such,they are utilitarian institutions,rooted in the concept of cultivating manpower for society’s economic progress,and tending to ignore the development of the individual.As China’s elite higher education system took in a rapidly increasing number of students in the recent massification process,China’s key science and technology universities underwent reform to become more comprehensive in curricular offerings and more research-oriented in function.The authors have uncovered an interesting phenomenon:Despite repeated discussion in academic circles,this transformation was never actually a conscious strategic choice for universities.Only when the Chinese government launched a program of higher education“massification”did universities develop their own unique reform strategies in a move to become more comprehensive and more research oriented.The authors have adopted a multi-stream analysis framework to describe and analyze three case study universities:University of Science and Technology of China(USTC),Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST),and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University(NWAFU).It was found that Chinese universities already have quite a high level of autonomy,but that the government still has the power to make strategic decisions.Each university’s decision-making mechanism has been an independent process within the constraints of the political economic structure over this period,and policy-making has combined top-down and bottom-up processes.

Transformative learning in nursing education: A concept analysis

Objective:There is vast literature on transformative learning,which is an important aspect of nursing education,but its meaning remains unclear.It is therefore important to clarify the meaning of transformative learning,identify its attributes,antecedents and consequences to increase its use in nursing education,practice and research.Methods:Walker and Avant's method was used,and the process provided a structured way to analyse the concept of'transfonnative leaming'.Nursing education dictionaries,encyclopaedias,conference papers,research articles,dissertations,theses,journal articles,thesauri and relevant books through the database library and intemet searches were reviewed.One hundred and two literature sources were reviewed,and data saturation was reached.Results:The results of the concept analysis of transformative learning within the context of nursing education identified three categories,namely,1)Antecedents as cognitive and affective perspective,democratic education principles and inspiration;2)Process through three phases,namely i)awareness through self-reflection,ii)the meaningful interactive,integrative and democratic construction process,and iii)metacognitive reasoning abilities;and 3)Outcomes.A theoretical definition of transformative learning was formulated.Theoretical validity was ensured.Conclusion:The results of the concept analysis of transformative learning were used to describe a model to facilitate transformative learning within the context of nursing education.

Objective:This paper is a report about transforming patient education practice,to get further transformation of patient education.Method:Smyth’s critical emancipatory reflective framework was used to guide the reflective practice.Results:Many reasons influence the patient education practice including nurses’worldview,historical,economic and social reasons.Conclusion:Nurses should empower themselves as well as patients,and patient education should be based on patients’needs and their belief,the responsibility of nurses should be guiding and teaching.

“Digital transformation of education”is a hot topic of present educational reform and the development tendency of future educational innovation.Digital transformation of education,as a process stressing technology-driven educational innovation and reform,boasts the importance of development in its birth and practice.It is driven jointly by social and cultural transitions,the impetus of technical innovation,the guidance of national policies,and the endogenous development of the education system.The logic of practice of the transformation can be regarded as the behavior choice dominated by value and intentions,and the underlying generation principles in practice comprise the“problem-driven+concept-led”principle,the“system evolution+innovative breakthrough”principle,and the“value assessment+iterative optimization”principle.At present,under the background of constructing the new ecology of a smart society and a high-quality education system,and under the pressure of COVID-19 pandemic,the transformation faces golden development opportunities.Nonetheless,the present transformation practice still has some differences from the expected value orientation.Therefore,it is required to research and develop a mature digital education model or framework,carry out a national digital education preparation campaign,work for pilot schemes for the transformation at all levels and of all kinds,attach importance to theoretical research on education relating to the digital transformation of education,and more actively embrace the new wave of educational reform worldwide.
