The damping of system oscillations can be achieved by conventional means of voltage and speed regulation but also by FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) devices, which are increasingly used in power networks. In this work, optimal control coordination between a hybrid power flow controller and a three-level inverter was used to improve the transient stability of a transmission line. The UPFC is a combination of a serial compensator (SSSC) and a parallel compensator (STATCOM) both connected to a DC-LINK DC bus. The SSSC acts as a voltage source for the network and injects a voltage that can be adjusted in phase and amplitude in addition to the network voltage;the STATCOM acts as a current source. The approach used is tested in the Matlab Simulink environment on a single machine network. Optimal controller tuning gives a better transient stability improvement by reducing the transport angle oscillations from 248.17% to 9.85%.展开更多

Sandakan is a suburb in east coast of Sabah state of Malaysia. Stability problem occurs due to the increase in load demand, lack of generation sources and inadequate supply. Since the occurrence of a disturbance or fault cannot be completely avoided, hence, when it occurs, control measures need to be put in place to limit the fault current, which invariably limit the level of the disturbances. This paper explores the use of Superconductor Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) to improve the transient stability of the Nigeria 330 kV Transmission Network. During a large disturbance, the rotor angle of the generator is enhanced by connecting a Fault Current Limiter (FCL) which reduces the fault current and hence, increases transient stability of the power network. In this study, the most affected generator was taken into consideration in locating the SFCL. The result obtained reveals that the Swing Curve of the generator without FCL increases monotonically which indicates instability, while the Swing Curve of the System with FCL reaches steady state.展开更多

The s...Transient analysis of 33 KV power transmission line stability of Egi communi-ty is considered in this research work with the aim of reducing the frequency of fault occurrence and voltage collapse in the network. The supply is taken from Egi generating station located at Total Nigeria Limited Gas Plant Obite at voltage level of 33 KV to Egi communities. This work focuses on the transient nature of network stability since transient fault is the most dangerous in elec-trical systems. The swinging of the generator rotor in the event of transient three-phase short circuit fault can be monitored by the circuit breakers and the protective relays which causes mal-functioning of the circuit breakers and pro-tective relays leading to abnormal behavior of the network. Therefore, data obtained from the power station were used as a case study of Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Nigeria. For investigation of the power angle, angular velocity, rotor angle differential changes, and angular velocity differential changes, an electrical transient analyzer tool was employed (ETap version 16.00) for circuit breaker and protective relay time setting of (0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25, 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45, 0.50, 0.55, 0.60). The work used the Trapezoidal numerical technique for data analysis. The graphs were plotted using Matlab R2015a and the results obtained showed that when a symmetrical three-phase short circuit fault occur at one or any of the feeders, the fault must be cleared as quick as possible through the coordination of the circuit breakers and protective relays. For this research work, 17 cycles corresponding to relay time setting of t = 0.34 s were recommended and at each cycle, changes in time with respect to changes in rotor angle, angular velocity, rotor differential and angular velocity differential were calculated on the power network simultaneously. The results demonstrated that the Trapezoidal method is numerically stable, accurate and has faster respond time when compared to Modified Euler and swing equation techniques in event of fault occurrence in network.展开更多

文摘Large-scale wind power integration has become the current development trend of the power system. Large-scale wind power integration can change the original structure and characteristics of the system. Thus, it’s necessary to analyse the transient stability of power system which contains wind power, and to study the controlling strategy for improving the transient stability of power system. Based on EEAC, this paper studies the transient stability of the power system which contains wind power system theoretically, proposes the calculation method for accelerating area, decelerating area and margin, and illustrates the impact of wind power integration on the transient stability with power angle curve. Furthermore, this paper studies the modeling and simulation, and the experimental results prove the correctness of the theories.
文摘Topologic reconstruction of network is proposed to enhance transient stability. At last, because screening indices are based on Z- matrix, the proposed reconstrution is simple and practical. The results of two test systems support the propeal and the validity of the proposal is verified by the implementation of a realistic system.
文摘An example of Sandakan power grid problem is presented in this paper. Sandakan is a suburb in east coast of Sabah state of Malaysia. Stability problem occurs due to the increase in load demand, lack of generation sources and inadequate supply. The tripping disturbances occur frequently in the network which is contributing to voltage instability. In this paper dynamics stability of 33 kV power grid as related to Sandakan network is analyzed and simulated. The analysis is completed by modelling the network data in Power System Simulation for Engineering (PSS/E) software and simulate the transient stability of generator, exciter and governor during a three phase fault occurs on a far and close distance from a bus, and determine the critical clearing time as well as swing curve of rotor angle. The output values of electrical power, machine speed, rotor angle and bus voltage are observed.
文摘The dynamic responses of generators when subjected to disturbances in an interconnected power system have become a major challenge to power utility companies due to increasing stress on the power network. The result obtained reveals that the Swing Curve of the generator without FCL increases monotonically which indicates instability, while the Swing Curve of the System with FCL reaches steady state.
文摘Transient analysis of 33 KV power transmission line stability of Egi communi-ty is considered in this research work with the aim of reducing the frequency of fault occurrence and voltage collapse in the network. The results demonstrated that the Trapezoidal method is numerically stable, accurate and has faster respond time when compared to Modified Euler and swing equation techniques in event of fault occurrence in network.
