Physicochemical properties of the as-synthesized samples were characterized by means of various techniques, and their catalytic activities for HCHO(0.2%) oxidation were evaluated. Among the samples, Cu/Na Sep exhibited superior performance, and complete HCHO conversion was achieved at 100 ℃(GHSV = 240000 m L/(g·h)). Additionally, the sample retained good catalytic activity during a 42 h stability test. A number of factors, including elevated acidity, the abundance of oxygen species, and favorable low-temperature reducibility, were responsible for the excellent catalytic activity of Cu/Na Sep. According to the results of the in-situ DRIFTS characterization, the HCHO oxidation mechanism was as follows:(i) HCHO was rapidly decomposed into dioxymethylene(DOM) species on the Cu/Na Sep surface;(ii) DOM was then immediately converted to formate species;(iii) the resultant formate species were further oxidized to carbonates;(iv) the carbonate species were eventually converted to CO2 and H2O.展开更多

Currently, the most popular route for FDCA synthesis is reported to be the oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)by O_2 over the catalysis of noble metals(e.g., Au, Pt, Ru, and Pd). However, the high costs of noble metal catalysts remain a major barrier for producing FDCA at an industrial scale. Herein, we report a transition metal-free synthesis strategy for the oxidation of HMF to FDCA under O_2 or ambient air. A simple but unprecedented process for the aerobic oxidation of HMF was carried out in organic solvents using only bases as the promoters. According to the high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) analysis, excellent product yield(91%) was obtained in the presence of NaOH in dimethylformamide(DMF) at room temperature(25 ℃). A plausible mechanism for the NaOH-promoted aerobic oxidation of HMF in DMF is also outlined in this paper. After the reaction, the sodium salt of FDCA particles were dispersed in the reaction mixture, making it possible for product separation and solvent reuse. The new HMF oxidation approach is expected to be a practical alternative to current ones, which depend on the use of noble metal catalysts.展开更多

In response to this demand, we thought that it would be an effective synthesis method if an aldehyde and an amine could be reacted to give an imine in good yield under solvent- and catalyst-free conditions. In fact, we tried the reaction of benzaldehyde with various amines under solvent- and catalyst-free conditions followed by removal of water that was produced in the reaction system by a vacuum pump, and desired imines could be obtained in good yields. Observation of this reaction using a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer revealed that the reaction rate was extremely fast at the initial stage but slowed over time. However, the reaction of benzaldehyde with aniline differed greatly, and the reaction rate dramatically improved in 47 - 48 minutes after the start of the reaction. At this time, we found that the reaction system underwent a phase transition from the liquid phase to the solid phase.展开更多

De...Zinc-air batteries(ZABs) with high energy density and safety are promising as next-generation energy storage systems, while their applications are severely hindered by the sluggish reaction kinetic of air cathodes. Developing a bifunctional catalyst with high activity and durability is an effective strategy to address the above challenges. Herein, a Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4) nanohybrid with heterointerfaces is designed as advanced cathode catalyst for ZABs. Density functional theory calculations show the heterogeneous interface between Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4) can improve the dynamics of carrier transport and thus enhancing the catalytic activity and durability. The Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4) catalyst anchored on reduced graphene oxide(rGO)exhibits high oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) activity with a half-wave potential of 0.86 V, and excellent oxygen evolution reaction(OER) activity with the potential of 1.59 V at 10 mA cm^(-2) , which are comparable to the commercial noble metal catalysts. The improved ORR/OER catalytic activity is ascribed to the synergistic effect of heterointerfaces between Co_(3)O_(4) and Mn_(3)O_(4)as well as the improved conductivity and contact area of oxygen/catalysts/electrolytes three-phase interface by r GO. Furthermore, a home-made ZAB based on Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4)/r GO shows a high open circuit voltage of 1.54 V, a large power density of 194.6 mW cm^(-2) and good long-term cycling stability of nearly 400 h at 5 mA cm^(-2) , which affords a promising bifunctional oxygen catalyst for rechargeable ZABs.展开更多

Here, Si O2 supported transition metal(Fe, Co, Ni, Mo and W) phosphides were tested for the thioetherification of isoprene and butanethiol on a fixed-bed reactor at 120℃ and 1.5 MPa H2, and their structure before and after reaction was characterized by means of XRD, HRTEM, N2 sorption, CO chemisorption, NH3-TPD, XPS and TG. It was found that, among different metal phosphides, Mo P/Si O2 showed the best performance, and the optimal nominal Mo P loading was 25%. Apart from the nature of metal, the density of metal and acid sites determined the catalyst performance. Metal site was mainly responsible for hydrogenation of isoprene, while acid site dominantly contributed to the thioetherification and the polymerization of olefins. Moreover, a balance between metallic and acidic functions is required to arrive at a desired performance. Excessive metal sites or acid sites led to the over-hydrogenation of isoprene or the severe polymerization of olefins, respectively. 25%Mo P/Si O2 was tested for 37 h time on stream, and butanethiol conversion maintained at 100%; although isoprene conversion remarkably decreased, the selectivity to isopentenes exceeded 80% after reaction for 11 h. We suggest that the deactivation of Mo P/Si O2 is mainly ascribed to the butanethiol poisoning and the carbonaceous deposit, especially the former.展开更多

According to the results of the in-situ DRIFTS characterization, the HCHO oxidation mechanism was as follows:(i) HCHO was rapidly decomposed into dioxymethylene(DOM) species on the Cu/Na Sep surface;(ii) DOM was then immediately converted to formate species;(iii) the resultant formate species were further oxidized to carbonates;(iv) the carbonate species were eventually converted to CO2 and H2O.

文摘As a main oxidizer in solid composite propellants, ammonium perchlorate(AP)plays an important role because its thermal decomposition behavior has a direct influence on the characteristic of solid composite propellants. To improve the performance of solid composite propellant,it is necessary to take measures to modify the thermal decomposition behavior of AP.In recent years, transition metal oxides and carbon-supported transition metal oxides have drawn considerable attention due to their extraordinary catalytic activity. In this review,we highlight strategies to enhance the thermal decomposition of AP by tuning morphology, varying the types of metal ion,and coupling with carbon analogue. The enhanced catalytic performance can be ascribed to synergistic effect, increased surface area, more exposed active sites, and accelerated electron transportation and so on.The mechanism of AP decomposition mixed with catalyst has also been briefly summarized. Finally,a conclusive outlook and possible research directions are suggested to address challenges such as lacking practical application in actual formulation of solid composite propellant and batch manufacturing.

文摘Over the past decade, the first-principles-aided thermodynamic models have become standard theoretical tools in research on structural stability and evolution of transition-metal heterogeneous catalysts under reaction environment.Advances in first-principles-aided thermodynamic models mean it is now possible to enable the operando computational modeling, which provides a deep insight into mechanism behind structural stability and evolution, and paves the way for high-through screening for promising transition-metal heterogeneous catalysts. Here,we briefly review the framework and foundation of first-principles-aided thermodynamic models and highlight its contribution to stability analysis on catalysts and identification of reaction-induced structural evolution of catalyst under reaction environment. The present review is helpful for understanding the ongoing developments of first-principles-aided thermodynamic models, which can be employed to screen high-stability catalysts and predict their structural reconstruction in future rational catalyst design.

文摘The organic compound 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA) has been identified by the US Department of Energy(DOE) as a valuable platform chemical for a wide range of industrial applications. The new HMF oxidation approach is expected to be a practical alternative to current ones, which depend on the use of noble metal catalysts.

文摘Platinum(Pt)-based noble metal catalysts(PGMs)are the most widely used commercial catalysts, but they have the problems of high cost, low reserves, and susceptibility to small-molecule toxicity.Transition metal oxides(TMOs)are regarded as potential substitutes for PGMs because of their stability in oxidizing environments and excellent catalytic performance. In this study, comprehensive investigation into the influence of elastic strains on the adsorption energies of carbon(C),hydrogen(H)and oxygen(O)on TMOs was conducted.Based on density functional theory(DFT)calculations, these effects in both tetragonal structures(PtO_(2),PdO_(2))and hexagonal structures(ZnO,CdO),along with their respective transition metals were systematically explored. It was identified that the optimal adsorption sites on metal oxides pinpointed the top of oxygen or the top of metal atom, while face-centered cubic(FCC)and hexagonal close-packed(HCP)holes were preferred for the transition metals.Furthermore, under the influence of elastic strains, the results demonstrated significant disparities in the adsorption energies of H and O between oxides and transition metals.Despite these differences, the effect of elastic strains on the adsorption energies of C,H and O on TMOs mirrored those on transition metals:adsorption energies increased under compressive strains, indicating weaker adsorption, and decreased under tension strains, indicating stronger adsorption. This behavior was rationalized based on the d-band model for adsorption atop a metallic atom or the p-band model for adsorption atop an oxygen atom.Consequently, elastic strains present a promising avenue for tailoring the catalytic properties of TMOs.

文摘The Sabatier principle has been widely used for designing electrocatalysts for energy conversion applications, but it is rarely mentioned in the research of cathode catalyst of Li-CO_(2) batteries. In our work, the"volcanic"relationship between the catalytic activity and the adsorption energy of the catalyst to the intermediates is first demonstrated based on the first-principles calculation, which meets the Sabatier principle and can be used to design the cathode catalysts. The increases in the number of nitrogenvacancy in WN shift the d-band center and increase the interaction with the reactants. The catalytic activity increases first and then decreases with the increase of adsorption energy, which was proved in the experiment. The optimal catalyst for moderate adsorption of intermediate makes the thin LiaCO_(3) distribute evenly. It exhibits a median voltage difference of 0.68 V and an energy efficiency of 84.33%at20μA cm^(-2)with a limited capacity of 200μA h cm^(-2).

文摘In this paper, a low-cost activated carbon(AC) was prepared from deactivated resin catalyst(DRC) for methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE) synthesis through carbonization and subsequent steam activation treatment. The activated carbon was characterized in detail. After loading various transition metals, including Cu^(2+), Ag+, Co^(2+), Ni^(2+), Zn^(2+), and Fe^(3+) via the ultrasonic-assisted impregnation method, a series of metal-loaded adsorbents(xM-AC) were obtained and their dimethyl sulfide(DMS) adsorption performance was investigated in a batch system. Among these adsorbents, 15Cu-AC presented a superior DMS adsorption capacity equating to 58.986 mg/g due to the formation of S-M(σ) bonds between Cu^(2+) and sulfur atoms of DMS as confirmed by the Raman spectra and kinetic study.
文摘Because imines could be used as convenient starting materials in various fields, the development of an easy synthetic method of imine was strongly desired. At this time, we found that the reaction system underwent a phase transition from the liquid phase to the solid phase.

文摘Reverse water gas shift(RWGS) reaction can be served as a pivotal stage of transitioning the abundant CO;resource into chemicals or hydrocarbon fuels, which is attractive for the CO;utilization and of eventually significance in enabling a rebuilt ecological system for unconventional fuels. This concept is appealing when the process is considered as a solution for the storage of renewable energy, which may also find a variety of potential end uses for the outer space exploration. However, a big challenge to this issue is the rational design of high temperature endurable RWGS catalysts with desirable CO product selectivity. In this work, we present a comprehensive overview of recent publications on this research topic, mainly focusing on the catalytic performance of RWGS reaction over three major kinds of heterogeneous catalysts, including supported metal catalysts, mixed oxide catalysts and transition metal carbides. The reaction thermodynamic analysis, kinetics and mechanisms are also described in detail. The present review attempts to provide a general guideline about the construction of well-performed heterogeneous catalysts for the RWGS reaction, as well as discussing the challenges and further prospects of this process.

文摘Zinc-air batteries(ZABs) with high energy density and safety are promising as next-generation energy storage systems, while their applications are severely hindered by the sluggish reaction kinetic of air cathodes. Furthermore, a home-made ZAB based on Co_(3)O_(4)/Mn_(3)O_(4)/r GO shows a high open circuit voltage of 1.54 V, a large power density of 194.6 mW cm^(-2) and good long-term cycling stability of nearly 400 h at 5 mA cm^(-2) , which affords a promising bifunctional oxygen catalyst for rechargeable ZABs.

文摘Thioetherification between mercaptan and diolefin is an efficient process to remove mercaptans in FCC gasoline at mild condition, during which the selective hydrogenation of diolefin to monoolefin is also expected. We suggest that the deactivation of Mo P/Si O2 is mainly ascribed to the butanethiol poisoning and the carbonaceous deposit, especially the former.
