Oral Literature:The Translation and Dissemination of Mulian Baojuan in the English World

Mulian baojuan,originating from the Sūtra of Ullambana,tells the story of Mulian rescuing his mother from hell.Rostislav Berezkin,David Johnson,and Wilt L.Idema have studied and introduced it.This paper mainly discusses the translation and dissemination of baojuan to sort out and verify its spread in the English world.The translation and dissemination of baojuan have shifted towards its performances,illustrations,and social functions.The study of baojuan has presented a new development trend by breaking the restrictions of the genre of text and through dynamic interactions with novels,dramas,and other forms of literature.

English Translation of Chinese Traditional Cultural Vocabulary Under the Context of Cultural Dissemination

The influence of Chinese culture in English-speaking countries is still not as significant as that of Japan and other East Asian countries.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the English translation of vocabulary with Chinese elements.Based on the main purpose of cultural dissemination,this article briefly classifies vocabulary with Chinese elements,explores translation strategies for Chinese traditional cultural vocabulary,and summarizes the actual cultural propaganda effects.The article also provides insights and suggestions for subsequent strategy applications.

The Renditions Series and Modern Chinese Literature’s “Going-out”: Its Model and Enlightenment of Translation, Communication and Dissemination

In the process of Chinese Literature’s “Going-out” project, it istypical of the dilemma faced by the external translation and dissemination of modernChinese literature. The Renditions Series serves as a classical case of providing aneffective model of “literature’s overseas distribution”. The successful experience of itstranslating-cum-disseminating model can be concluded as follows: all the translatorsare from China and overseas with cross-cultural background; the selection oftranslation is stylistically far-ranging among the Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong,and feminine literature in modern China is highly valued; translating method aims atconvoying the original literary aesthetics, and disseminating channels are manifold;the foreign recipients are common and professional readers; the eminent effects canbe proved by its considerable sales, library collections and acceptance in the targetcountries and regions. From the successful model of translation of Renditions Series,five implications can be made out for the modern Chinese literature’s “Going-global”:domestic and overseas translators cooperate well with all-round cultural identities; theselection holds onto diversification and literary character; various spreading channelsshould be broadened; target readers should be accurately located and continuouslywidened; translating and disseminating effects can be focused on and analyzed, so asto adjust and improve the corresponding sections in the model.

Analysis of publication dissemination of Chinese present current literature work English translation and research methodologies

As a systematic work, there are very close links between the various aspects of the English translation of Chinese modern and contemporary literary works, whether they are translated into the main body, translated content and other links, or a specific translation approach, are not segmentation. 以新媒体视域为研究背景,探讨辽宁非物质文化遗产的对外译介与传播。通过论述辽宁非物质文化遗产的外宣翻译现状,分析辽宁非物质文化遗产对外译介与传播中存在的问题,提出在新媒体视域下辽宁非物质文化遗产对外传播的策略,以及基于三种翻译方法和关联理论的对外译介策略,为推动辽宁非物质文化遗产的国际化进程提供理论支撑。

布迪厄场域理论视角下《梦溪笔谈》在英国的译介与传播

运用布迪厄场域理论的场域、惯习和资本三个概念,对《梦溪笔谈》的英译与传播进行描述性分析。研究发现,在所涉及的文学场域、翻译场域和出版场域,各参与者比较活动积极,助推了《梦溪笔谈》英译本的译介;而在传播场域,各参与者不够活跃,合力不足,导致《梦溪笔谈》在英国并没有产生预期的影响力。因此,中国科技典籍的海外传播不应割裂翻译与传播之间的联系;翻译不是译者工作的终点,译者还应积极推动科技典籍向海外传播。

海外中国当代文学翻译与研究的理论反思

本文从“不可翻译”的“世界文学”全球史视野下的“欧洲地方化”和巴尔干与克里奥尔三个方面,对海外中国当代文学的翻译与研究展开理论反思。当代文学七十年的翻译经验是世界文学流动的某种面向,既是关于中国当代文学传播切实的翻译历史,更是牵一发而动全身的“翻译史”。而海外中国当代文学研究,则体现了学术共同体的理念,其中包含了西方理论与中国文本的关系等分歧性的话语。我们应该将中国文学或欧洲话语都视为相互关联的、既是地方化也是全球化的知识。海外与本土的中国当代文学研究,形成全球视野中并发与互文的研究形态。中国当代文学海外传播的复杂性,还可以借助于巴尔干化和克里奥尔化两种不同的权力构型加以阐释,从而努力发展出一种混杂化的当代文学海外传播研究论述范式。

中国哲学典籍翻译传播的行动者网络研究——以陈荣捷《中国哲学文献选编》为例

陈荣捷的中国哲学典籍英译推动了中国哲学在英语世界的传播。本研究基于行动者网络理论,结合布迪厄场域资本概念探讨《中国哲学文献选编》翻译传播的行动者网络。陈荣捷凭借其在哲学场域内较为丰厚的社会文化资本,联合发起《中国哲学文献选编》项目的翻译,并在项目进行中成功招募到出版社、基金、编辑人员、学界专家等人类和非人类行动者,完成翻译生产的网络。译本出版后,出版机构的运作、专家学者以及网络读者的评论构成译本传播的行动者网络,各网络之间相对自主,但在行动进程上层层递进、交互联结,共同促进中国哲学典籍在海外的传播。

基于语料库的株洲地区红色故事对外翻译研究

株洲是井冈山革命根据地和湘赣革命根据地的重要组成部分,“堪称没有围墙的红色博物馆”,如何使株洲的红色故事“记得住”“传得开”是很值得研究的。将语料库用于株洲地区红色故事对外翻译研究,可以解决红色故事翻译研究出现实证研究缺乏、描写不够客观的问题,并可为红色文化翻译实践活动提供理论指导。该研究基于株洲地区红色故事双语平行语料库,分析株洲地区红色故事翻译现状,研究红色故事翻译原则与翻译策略,探讨株洲地区红色故事翻译发展对策,有助于构建实时共享的株洲地区红色文化外宣资源,为株洲地区红色文化翻译研究开拓多角度、多层次、多元化的立体即时的研究平台,助力株洲地区红色文化的传承与传播。

藏药名称英译规范化研究

藏医药是藏文化的瑰宝,是中国传统医药的重要组成部分。藏医药于公元18、19世纪传入欧洲和美国并逐渐受到国际社会的关注,目前我国仍需进一步推进藏医药国际传播来巩固和提高中国在藏医药领域的国际话语权和影响力。文章以藏药名称英译的规范化和标准化为目的,分析了藏医药在国际国内的发展形势、藏药名称的特点以及国内外藏药产品和各种文献中藏药名称的翻译现状,提出规范化藏药名称的翻译策略和具体翻译方法,以提高中国藏医药国际传播的实效性,掌握相匹配的国际话语权。

译者资本对译介传播过程的影响——以瞿秋白译介实践为例

根据布迪厄的资本理论,译者在文化资本、社会资本和象征资本层面上的积累对其在译介活动中的表现有着决定性影响。借助资本理论研究瞿秋白的资本结构和类型,分析译者资本对译介作品传播过程的影响。研究发现,瞿秋白的译者资本以文化资本为主,以社会资本和象征资本为辅,他独特的译者资本贯穿译前、译中和译后三个阶段,影响其译介动机、译介选材、译介模式、译介理念、译介策略以及译著的出版、再版和传播。

文本内外:《钟鼓楼》英译传播多元行为者之“众声”研究
