Research on the Transmission of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture in Confucius Classroom at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka Under the Background of“the Belt and Road”Cooperation Initiative

“The Belt and Road”cooperation initiative contains Chinese excellent traditional cultural ideas,and is deeply rooted in Chinese excellent traditional culture.The proposal of“the Belt and Road”cooperation initiative is not only the strategic need to implement the“going out”of Chinese culture,but also the need to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning among countries along“the Belt and Road”,and more importantly,the practical consideration of building a community of shared future for mankind with cultural identity.Confucius classroom,as one of the important platforms to realize the“going out”of Chinese culture,shows the“image of China”and enhances the“soft power”of Chinese culture,integrates and configures Chinese teaching and Chinese cultural resources through cooperation,and plays an important role in telling Chinese stories,spreading Chinese voice,enhancing cultural mutual trust and people-to-people contacts as well as the awareness of a community of shared future for mankind.Taking the Confucius classroom jointly built by Huanggang Normal University in China and Sabaragamuwa University in Sri Lanka as an example,this paper explores some effective transmission ways for spreading Chinese excellent traditional culture in Sri Lankan Confucius classroom under the background of“the Belt and Road”cooperation initiative,aiming to give full play to the role of Confucius classroom in cultural exchanges and enhance inter-school exchanges and cooperation between China and Sri Lanka in terms of cultural mutual trust and respect.

International Transmission of Chinese Medical Culture: Problems and Solutions

International transmission of Chinese medical culture is of great importance for the worldwide spread of traditional Chinese culture, which faces many problems, like the serious impact from western medicine and other traditional medicines, low professional quality of its practitioners, language barriers, etc. It's urgent to propose some practical solutions.

Opera Translation and Globalization of Chinese Local Culture： A Case Study of Wuxi Opera

Against the background of a rigorous campaign of globalization of Chinese culture, the global dissemination of local operas has drawn attention from the government, art performers, translators and scholars. This paper takes Wuxi Opera, a precious cultural treasure in Jiangsu province, China, for example. We will discuss the difficulties in spreading Wuxi Opera globally and learn the successful globalizing experience from other operas, such as Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera and Sichuan Opera. Considering the important status and rich resources of Peking Opera, we will analyze Peking Opera thoroughly and the most important aspects of Sichuan Opera and Kunqu Opera. By analyzing their translations and globalization process, we believe that Wuxi Opera should make efforts especially in four aspects to make progress in its globalizing campaign.

Chinese-to-English Translation of Publicity on Chinese Minority Culture： Discourse Ideology and Translation Strategies

Discourse ideology refers to the position, attitude and guideline employed by a writer or speaker constructing a discourse in relation to the readers/hearers. This paper defines the notion of discourse ideology in the practice of translation, highlights the relationship between discourse ideology and the translator＇s subjectivity, and illustrates the translation strategies appropriate to the context of publicity of Chinese minority culture to the readers outside China. A tentative conclusion is drawn that the top-down approach from discourse ideology to translation strategies and the bottom-up approach from translation strategies to discourse ideology complement with each other in the Chinese-to-English translation of publicity on Chinese minority culture.

Translation Strategy of Chinese Culture-loaded Lexes and the Dissemination of Chinese Culture

Poetry Translation and Cultural Transmission——the English Version of the Classical Chinese Poem “Bring in the Wine”

This article,based on the English version of Li Bai's Classical Chinese Poem“Bring in the Wine”,explores the important position of cultural transmission in the English translation of the Classical Chinese Poem through the comparison of the cultural translation,and finally draws the rationality and feasibility of the creative translation techniques in the English translation of the Classical Chinese Poems.It points out that the alienation of the Chinese culture's external communication has ignored the reader's cultural acceptance ability and position of the western countries and regions dominated by the foreign countries.It is believed that in a long period of time,Chinese culture needs the translation of Chinese translators to dissimilation,the translation of foreign sinologists,domestication,and alienation,to meet the needs of different types of readers and to promote the Chinese culture to go out.

Chinese Cuisine Culture and Current Situation of its Translation

Chinese cuisine is the main reflection of our country’s cuisine culture.It contains profound historical and cultural background.Besides,it permeates folk-custom taste and local manners.Since the name of a cuisine is the first impression given to a dining person,undoubtedly,its translation is very important in cultural dissemination and communication.But actually,there are many problems exist in Chinese cuisine translation at present.This paper is based on a massive collection of Chinese cuisine’s translation,classification,analysis.Besides,it has found out cultural connotation,current situation and the causes from the cultural angle;discussed the basic requirements of translating Chinese cuisine.

Culturally-loaded Chinese Discourse of Gu-qin and Its Inspiration to Translation——Based on a Maxim from a Chinese Classics The Roots of Wisdom

Inspired by one of the maxims in a Chinese classics entitled The Roots of Wisdom,the present paper borrows the typical culturally-loaded Chinese discourses of Gu-qin — "stringed lute" and "non-stringed lute"—to add to the literary translation terminology and to enrich some Chinese literary translation theories.On the basis of analyzing some related theories in linguistics,pragmatics,aesthetics and communication which show different perspectives relevant with the study of translation,the present paper offers a new angle to illustrate how the Chinese discourses of Gu-qin,rich in cultural implications,can best describe translation and bring new vigor and vitality into the diversity and further expansion of the field of translation research.

Chinese Culture in English Translation of Agriliterature

China is a large agricultural country, developing fast in agriscience (agricultural science). However, the translation of agriliterature (agricultural literature) and its study lag far behind. Eco-translatology, describing the process of translating as Adaption and Selection, offers the guide to the translation of this field. Chinese-to-English Translation of Publicity on Chinese Minority Culture From Narrative Perspectives

Narrative is a literary notion.In narrative translation theory,narrative involves personal narrative,public narrative,disciplinary narrative,and meta-narrative.This paper adopts the notions of personal narrative,public narrative,and meta-narrative to analyze specific cases concerning the Chinese-to-English translation on Chinese minority culture publicity,proposes two narrative translation models,namely,the annotation narrative translation model and the manipulative narrative translation model,and explores the concrete translation procedures and the embodied meta-narrative,covering introduction to minority tales,minority festivals,and minority customs.Narrative translation research is part of the multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary turn in the 21st century,and this research is an organic part of cross-cultural communication translatology.

The West-East Jade Transmission and the Formation of Chinese Civilization

The major program of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences completed in 2012, entitled “The Research on Myths and Legends about Chinese Civilization Source”, led to such a conclusion: The imaginative myths and legends generated along with the Chinese civilization has a profound prehistoric root, far beyond the limit of the Chinese character generation period. The main path of Chinese myths and legends lies in the jade mythology and resulting jade belief. When viewing the origin of jade from a perspective of mythology, we find each major jade (e.g., jade ring, jade arc) form is covertly driven by a mythological concept. The investigation of the era and regional distribution of unearthed jade wares may outline the spreading path map of the jade mythology and belief.

Co-translation Strategy for Chinese Culture Going-out in View of the West Learning during the Second Translation Climax in Chinese History

Co-translation is a translation model has been thoughout the whole translation history,and a new co-translation modelemerged in the second translation climax of Chinese history—"Oral Interpretation by Foreigners and Written Chinese by ChineseIntellectuals".During this period,the co-translation brought about the"Western Learning"effect,which was a huge driving forceto the development of China at that time.Consequently,concerning the"Chinese Culture’s Going-out Strategy"in current China,the co-translation model can be analogously used as a reference.By investigating related researches and reading relevant litera-ture,it proposed a co-translation strategy that is consistent with"Chinese Culture Going-out"strategy.

The Comparative Study of Two Translated Texts on Huangdirent Translating Styles o'n s Internal Classics——Simple Analysis on the Diffe Culture-Specific Lexicon, Figure of Speech and Four-Chinese-Character Structures

Huangdi's Internal Classics(Neijin) is one of the most important ancient medical classics, which plays far-reaching influence in medical field. More and more domestic and overseas scholars published their translated texts on Neijing. Due to the diversity of editions and different understanding, the translating styles and contents are widely different. This study will focus on the different translating styles on culture-specific lexicon、figure of speech and four-Chinese-character structures in Neijin.

The Cultrual Implication of the Chinese Cuisine Naming with Translation

The article first of all briefly presents the cultural connotation of four categories of the Chinese cuisine. It then offers two characteristics of the Chinese cuisine naming with specific cultural implications. First, its primary motivation is characterized with straight-forwardness; Next, its secondary motivations of the Chinese cuisine naming consisting of the initiator’s name, the animal’s name, the plant’s name, the verse’s name and the special meaning’s name. We should follow the principles of stability and consistency in cuisine naming and its translation. The findings are not only interesting but provide a sound basis for a further understanding of one another.

Cultural Vacancy in Chinese-English Translation and Its Compensation Strategies

Attempts are made to explore the relationship between culture and translation, reasons are illustrated for the phenomenonof cultural vacancy and compensation methods for cultural vacancy are demonstrated in Chinese-English translation. Such strate-gies as literal translation, liberal translation, transliteration, annotation and cultural omission are of great guidance to our transla-tion practice.

Creation of Beauty in Translation-A Contrastive Study of Aesthetic Values Between China and West and Their Effects on Translation

Literary writing is inseparable from aesthetic values and it is the same as with literary traslation.However,due to different social and cultural traditions,people from different culture have different presuppositions and expectations of beauty,which cause difficulty in conveying this beauty in literary translation.This paper tries to analyze the respective effects of the Chinese and western aesthetic values on the translation between the Chinese language and the English one.By analyzing the differences in the aspects of philosophical influence,moral standards and the form between the Chinese culture and the English one,this paper concludes that it is the task of the translators to make some adjustment in order to cater to the aesthetic values of the target language and convey the beauty of the original work to readers at the same time.
