The calculation and optimal allocation of transmission capacity in natural gas networks with MINLP models

The transmission capacity of gas pipeline networks should be calculated and allocated to deal with the capacity booking with shippers. Technical capacities, which depend on the gas flow distribution at routes or interchange points, are calculated with a multiobjective optimization model and form a Pareto solution set in the entry/exit or point-to-point regime. Then, the commercial capacities, which can be directly applied in capacity booking, are calculated with single-objective optimization models that are transformed from the above multiobjective model based on three allocation rules and the demand of shippers.Next, peak-shaving capacities, which are daily oversupply or overdelivery amounts at inlets or deliveries,are calculated with two-stage transient optimization models. Considering the hydraulic process of a pipeline network and operating schemes of compressor stations, all the above models are mixed-integer nonlinear programming problems. Finally, a case study is made to demonstrate the ability of the models. 展开更多

In this study, the transmission capacity of VANETs in a highway scenario is analysed on the basis of a 1D line model and the carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance(CSMA/CA) protocol. We describe the CSMA/CA protocol used in IEEE802.11 p from the perspective of the geometric relationship amongst simultaneous transmitters. The desired channel and interfering channels are assumed to experience the same amount of path-loss and Rayleigh fading. On the basis of the proposed model, we analyse the attempted transmission probability of each road segment and the maximum intensity of active transmitters, including their theoretical values. Then, we employ the physical model to obtain the outage probability and derive the upper bound of the transmission capacity of a VANET, which is defined as the average spatial density of successful transmissions in the network. Simulation results indicate that the theoretical value offers a good bound on network capacity. 展开更多

For there is no general close-form expression to the transmission capacity of ad hoc networks, by using Taylor series, we obtain the exact series expression to transmission capacity first, then we take partial summation to yield an n-th order approximate expression. Further- more, compared with the exact expression under a special case, the accuracy of the n-th order ap- proximation has been studied. The numerical results show that the accuracy of the approximation is mainly determined by the order n, and a high accuracy can be obtained when the node density or the outage constraint is close to zero . 展开更多

Secondly, the paper presents the method to compute the maximum ex- pectant achievable capacity for the given conflict graph, and concludes and proves an sufficient con- dition that the information flow transmit successfully between nodes. For the proofs of the upper and lower bounds are too complex, a much easier way is introduced to get the same results, and by using Taylor series, the asymptotic bound is derived. By comparing with the simulation results, we found that the asymptotic bound is sufficient accurate when the network parameters are selected properly, and is tighter than the upper and lower bounds. 展开更多

In this paper, by using stochastic geometry tools, a new inhomogeneous overlaid wireless Ad-hoc network model is studied and the outage probability are analyzed. By assuming that primary (PR) network nodes are distributed as a Poisson point process (PPP) and secondary (SR) network nodes are distributed as a Matern cluster processes, an upper and a lower bounds for the transmission capacity of the primary network and that of the secondary network are presented. Simulation results show that the transmission capacity of the PR and SR network will both have a small increment due to the inhomogeneity of the SR network. 展开更多

Themassive integration of high-proportioned distributed photovoltaics into distribution networks poses significant challenges to the flexible regulation capabilities of distribution stations.To accurately assess the flexible regulation capabilities of distribution stations,amulti-temporal and spatial scale regulation capability assessment technique is proposed for distribution station areas with distributed photovoltaics,considering different geographical locations,coverage areas,and response capabilities.Firstly,the multi-temporal scale regulation characteristics and response capabilities of different regulation resources in distribution station areas are analyzed,and a resource regulation capability model is established to quantify the adjustable range of different regulation resources.On this basis,considering the limitations of line transmission capacity,a regulation capability assessment index for distribution stations is proposed to evaluate their regulation capabilities.Secondly,considering different geographical locations and coverage areas,a comprehensive performance index based on electrical distance modularity and active power balance is established,and a cluster division method based on genetic algorithms is proposed to fully leverage the coordination and complementarity among nodes and improve the active power matching degree within clusters.Simultaneously,an economic optimization model with the objective of minimizing the economic cost of the distribution station is established,comprehensively considering the safety constraints of the distribution network and the regulation constraints of resources.This model can provide scientific guidance for the economic dispatch of the distribution station area.Finally,case studies demonstrate that the proposed assessment and optimization methods effectively evaluate the regulation capabilities of distribution stations,facilitate the consumption of distributed photovoltaics,and enhance the economic efficiency of the distribution station area. 展开更多

We study the transmission capacities of two coexisting spread-spectrum wireless networks (a primary network vs. a secondary network) that operate in the same geographic region and share the same spectrum. We defi ne transmission capacity as the product among the density of transmissions, the transmission rate, and the successful transmission probability. The primary (PR) network has a higher priority to access the spectrum without particular considerations for the secondary (SR) network, while the SR network limits its interference to the PR network by carefully controlling the density ofits transmitters. Considering two types of spread-spectrum transmission schemes (FH-CDMA and DS-CDMA) and the channel inversion power control mechanism, we quantify the transmission capacities for these two networks based on asymptotic analysis. Our results show that if the PR network permits a small increase ofits outage probability, the sum transmission capacities of the two networks (i.e., the overall spectrumefficiency per unit area) will be boosted significantly over that of a single network. 展开更多

Centralized delivery has become the main operation mode under the scaled development of wind power.Transmission channels are usually the guarantee of out-delivered wind power for large-scale wind base.The configuration of transmission capacity,which has the features of low utilization and poor economy,is hardly matching correctly due to the volatility and low energy density of wind.The usage of energy storage can mitigate wind power fluctuations and reduce the requirement of out-delivery transmission capacity,but facing the issue of energy storage cost recovery.Therefore,it is necessary to optimize the allocation of energy storage while considering the problem of wind power transmission.This paper studies the joint optimization of large-scale wind power transmission capacity and energy storage,reveals the mechanism of energy storage in order to reduce the power fluctuation of wind power base and slow down the demand of transmission.Then,analyze the multi-functional cost-sharing mode of energy storage,improve the efficiency of energy storage cost recovery.Constructs the coordination optimization configuration model to deal with the problem of large-scale wind power transmission capacity and energy storage,and realizes the transmission capacity optimization coordination and optimization with energy storage.The proposed method is verified by a wind base located in Northeast China. 展开更多

Allocation of fixe or flow-dependent inter-zone trading capacities by the PX (power exchange) can not be accepted unreservedly. The paper is meant to show that a nodal electricity market design that is based on bids for local energy and a regulated transmission access including allocation of "entry-exit" transmission capacity would be the desired solution. The market players could easily optimize their portfolio while the TSOs (transmission system operators) are requested to mobilize the network's in-built flexibility to increase the cross zonal capacity. In the proposed market design, the PX's allocation of trading capacity is clearly separate from the TSO's management of the power system operational constraint5. The performance of interfered cooperative ad-hoc networks is analyzed by stochastic geometry analysis and a selection region of relay is presented. First, assuming that the distribution of nodes in the random network follows the Poisson point process (PPP), a closed-form expression of the outage probability is derived for the best relay selection (BRS) scheme. Secondly, the capacity of the network is presented for this scheme. Finally, a performance factor is defined to evaluate the performance gain obtained from the BRS. By using this factor, a relay selection region is found to guarantee the performance gain from the BRS. The analysis and simulation results show that the performance of the BRS not only depends on the densities of source nodes and relay nodes but also on the factors of networks such as the path loss factor and the decoding threshold. And the BRS has a greater advantage than direct transmission (DT) in hush environments such as the long transmission distances, much interference and the high decoding thresholds. 展开更多

Based on the route rules of network with domain partition and interconnection, the interconnection indexes among the nodes within the domain and among the domains are given from several aspects. It is expatiated on that the index can thoroughly represent the effect on the reliability index of the objective factor and the subjective measures of the designer, which obeys the route rules of a network with domain partition and interconnection. This paper takes the sub-domain interconnection symmetrical topologi- cal network for a typical example to calculate the network reliability index and verifies the correctness of the proposed algorithm us- ing the real measured statistical data. The real measured results are well in accordance with the results obtained by the proposed algorithm. Multi-channel can be used to provide higher transmission ability to the bandwidth-intensive and delay-sensitive real-time streams. However, traditional channel capacity theories and coding schemes are seldom designed for the real-time streams with strict delay constraint, especially in multi-channel context. This paper considers a real-time stream system, where real-time messages with different importance should be transmitted through several packet erasure channels, and be decoded by the receiver within a fixed delay. Based on window erasure channels and i.i.d.(identically and independently distributed) erasure channels, we derive the Multi-channel Real-time Stream Transmission(MRST) capacity models for Symmetric Real-time(SR) streams and Asymmetric Real-time(AR) streams respectively. Moreover, for window erasures, a Maximum Equilibrium Intra-session Code(MEIC) is presented for SR and AR streams, and is shown able to asymptotically achieve the theoretical MRST capacity. For i.i.d. erasures, we propose an Adaptive Maximum Equilibrium Intra-session Code(AMEIC), and then prove AMEIC can closely approach the MRST transmission capacity. Finally, the performances of the proposed codes are verified by simulations. 展开更多

The co-channel interference modeling is vital for evaluating the secrecy performance in random wireless networks,where the legitimate nodes and eavesdroppers are randomly distributed.In this paper,a new interference model is proposed from the userdominant perspective.The model can provide a better analytical assessment of secrecy performance with interference coordination for the presence of eavesdroppers.The typical legitimate is assumed to be located at the origin,and chooses the closest base station(BS) as its serving BS.The field of interferers is obtained by excluding the desired BSs(including the serving BS and its cooperative BS(s)).In contract with the exiting interference model,it is assumed that desired BSs and interferers belong to the same Poisson Point Process(PPP),and eavesdroppers are distributed according to another independent PPP.Based on this model,the average secrecy transmission capacity is derived in simply analytical forms with interference coordination.Analysis and simulation results show that the secrecy performance can be significantly enhanced by exploiting interference coordination.Furthermore,the average secrecy transmission capacity increases with increasing number of cooperative BSs. 展开更多

The wind power generation is increasing in many countries as a result of decreasing technology costs, active government policies for renewable energy sources, environmental concerns, etc.. This paper investigates the impact of wind power generation on ATC (available transmission capacity) calculation. In order to determine the maximum incremental MW transfer possible between two parts of a power system without violating any specified limits, ATCs are calculated. When calculating ATC values, it is necessary to assume production and consumption pattern in power system. Production of wind power depends on the wind speed, which is a random variable and it is impossible to forecast exactly the production of wind power that is needed for the ATCs calculation. In order to investigate influence of the stochastic wind power production on the ATCs value, computer model of Croatian electric power system is made in Power World Simulator. ATCs are calculated for southern part of Croatian power system in which besides wind power, hydro power plants are only type of power generation. Available wind speed measurements are used as input data for wind power production. The results of the ATC calculation for different scenario of wind power production and location in the Southern Croatian power system are presented and discussed in the paper. 展开更多
