He had been apparently healthy until the illness. In the recent 6 months, the dyspnea and fatigue gradually onset and became more severe, the hemoptysis being 100-200 mL per day. Spells of chest pain are associated with coughing. Despite accepting antibiotic and antispasmodic therapy in a hospital, there was no obvious improvement and he was transferred to our hospital. Objective: To investigate the suitable time of treating virulent and side effects of chemotherapy for malignant tumor by acupoint injection of Astragalus Root injection. Methods: Sixty three patients with malignant tumor were divided into three groups: prevention treatment (PT) group (n=23 cases),post chemotherapy treatment (PCT) group( n=22 cases), Western medicine (WM) group ( n=18 cases). The patients in PT, PCT and WM groups were treated respectively from the fifth day on before chemotherapy and from the first day on after chemotherapy, 18 days in all. The patients in WM group were administered Batilol and Leucogen from the first day on after chemotherapy. Changes of leukocytes and immunoglobulin before and after treatment were observed. Results: 1) Acupoint injection of Astragalus Root injectio could increase the number of leukocytes and immunoglobulin content and its effect was better than that of Western medicine (P<0.05); 2) The effect of PT group was better than that of PCT group in preventing and treating virulent and side effects of chemotherapy (P<0.05). Conclusion: It should be stressed on prevention of malignant tumor by using acupoint injection of Astragalus Root for relieving virulent and side effects of chemotherapy. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: To discuss the causes and treatments of wound infections after scoliosis surgery. METHODS: Nine hundred and twenty-four caes of scoliosis were reviewed, and the clinical data of 15 cases of postoperative infection were analysed retrospectively. RESULTS: All 15 cases underwent spinal posterior fusion with autologous bone graft using instrumentations. Seven were diagnosed as early infection, and 8 were delayed infection. Radical debridement was performed in all 15 cases. The duration of antibiotics administration was 10 to 34 days with continuous closed irrigation for 2 to approximately 4 weeks and primary closure for the wounds. All patients were followed up for an average of 3.5 years (2 to 7.5 years) with good outcomes and no recurrence. CONCLUSION: Wound infection following surgical correction of scoliosis primarily results from intraoperative seeding, although host-related and operation-related factors may contribute to its development. Once the infections are diagnosed, good results can be achieved by prompt surgical debridement, irrigation and reasonably administered antibiotics. Removal of hardware may be necessary in deep infections. 展开更多

Varieties of names such as plantar fasciitis, jogger's heel, tennis heal, policeman's heel are used to describe it. Mechanical factors are the most common etiology of heel pain. Common causes of hell pain includes: Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Spur, Sever's Disease, Heel bump, Achilles Tendinopathy, Heel neuritis, Heel bursitis. The diagnosis is mostly based on clinical examination. Normally, the location of the pain and the absence of associated symptoms indicating a systemic disease strongly suggest the diagnosis. Several therapies exist including rest, physical therapy, stretching, and change in footwear, arch supports, orthotics, night splints, anti-inflammatory agents, and surgery. Almost all patients respond to conservative nonsurgical therapy. Surgery is the last treatment option if all other treatments had failed. Rest, ice, massage, the use of correct exercise and complying with a doctor's advice all play important part in helping to recover from this hell pain condition, but getting good quality, suitable shoes with the appropriate amount of support for the whole foot is the most important. 展开更多
