The reaction of the trialkyl metals (R3M, R = Me, Et; M = Ga, In) with benzo[h]quinolin-10-ol (HO-BQ) in a 1:1 molar ratio gave intramolecular N coordinated complexes R2M-O-BQ (M = Ga, R = Me 1, Et 2) and (R2In-O-BQ)(2) (M = In, R = Et 3,) in 80-90% yield. The molecular structures of complexes 1 and 3 have been established by X-ray crystallography. 展开更多

Highly substituted n-atkyl celluloses with sidechains 3 to 10 carbon atoms long have been prepared from cellulose acetate, sodium hydroxide and n-alkyl bromides with dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent. Synthetic conditions of n-alkyl celluloses were studied with respect to reaction temperature, time and yield. The molecular structure of the n-alkyl celluloses, which were obtained as white powders or as sticky, soft and birefringent solids at room temperature, was investigated by IR and NMR spectra and elemental analysis. The highly substituted n-alkyl celluloses all exhibited both therotropic and lyotropic liquid crystalline cholesteric phases in some non-polar solvents. The metting behavior and solubility of the n-alkyl celluloses were examined. 展开更多

Optimization of TRPO Process Parameters for Americium Extraction from High Level Waste

The numerical calculations for Am multistage fractional extraction by trialkyl phosphine oxide (TRPO) were verified by a hot test. 1750L/t-U high level waste (HLW) was used as the feed to the TRPO process. The analysis used the simple objective function to minimize the total waste content in the TRPO process streams. Some process parameters were optimized after other parameters were selected. The optimal process parameters for Am extraction by TRPO are: 10 stages for extraction and 2 stages for scrubbing; a flow rate ratio of 0.931 for extraction and 4.42 for scrubbing; nitric acid concentration of 1.35mol/L for the feed and 0.5mol/L for the scrubbing solution. Finally, the nitric acid and Am concentration profiles in the optimal TRPO extraction process are given. 展开更多
