A series of five new Schiff bases(1–5) were synthesized by reacting 2-(trifluoromethoxy) aniline with different aromatic aldehydes. The Schiff base compounds were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical methods... A series of five new Schiff bases(1–5) were synthesized by reacting 2-(trifluoromethoxy) aniline with different aromatic aldehydes. The Schiff base compounds were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical methods. Crystal structure of one new compound was also reported. The pharmacological properties, including antibacterial(14 bacterial species), antifungal(7 strains), antimalarial, anti-trypanosomal and anti-HIV activities of the compounds, were investigated. Cytotoxicity of the tested compounds was evaluated against human cervix adernocarcinoma cells(He La). Bacterial minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) results by broth microdilution method showed that Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella oxytoc and Klebsiella pneumonia were more sensitive in the presence of tested compounds with an MIC value of 15.6 μg/m L. All the tested compounds showed good to moderate activity against fungi. The sensitivity of Aspergillus fumigatus was higher than other strains with a minimum cell death concentration(MFC) of 15.6 μg/m L. Compound 1 showed greater antimalarial and anti-trypanosomal properties with very low to no cytotoxic effects against He La cells as compared with compound 5, while other compounds exhibited poor activity. Compounds 1–5 demonstrated good activity against HIV type-1. These Schiff base compounds could be used as good antimicrobial agents. 展开更多

The lanthanide complexes containing a bulky tridentate [N,N,O] Schiff base ligand 3,5-But2-2-(OH)C6H2CH=N-8-C9H6N (HL) were synthesized and characterized. The reaction of anhydrous LnCl3 with NaL formed in situ in a 1:1 molar ratio in THF at room temperature afforded the lanthanide Schiff base dichloride complexes LnLCl2(DME) (Ln=Eu (1); Sm (2)). Complexes 1 and 2 can be used as precursors for the synthesis of the lanthanide cyclopentadienyl Schiff base derivatives. The reactions of complexes 1 and 2 with one equiv of NaCH3C5H4 in THF provided the desired products LnL(CH3C5H4)CI(THF).THF (Ln=Eu (3); Sm (4)) in good isolated yields. These complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and X-ray structural determination, in the case of complexes 3 and 4. The crystal data of complex 3 are monoclinic, P21/C space group, a=1.3370(2) nm, b=1.5190(2) nm, c=1.8910(3) nm, β=109.846(4)°, V=3.6125(8) nm^3, Z=4, Dc=1.416 mg/m^3,μ=1.847 mm^-1, F(000)=1584, R=0.0707, wR=0.1350. Using disc diffusion method, the antibacterial activity tests were conducted. The results revealed that the ligand as well as all the complexes exhibits good antibacterial activities against E. Three kinds of fluorinated Schiff's base esters, 4-allyloxy-2-X-6-X-benzoic acid 4-[(2, 3, 4-trifluorophenylimino)methyl]phenyl ester, where X=H or F, were synthesized and characterized. Their chemical structures were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and ^1H nuclear magnetic resonance (^1H NMR). Their mesomorphic properties were studied by polarized optical microscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was found that all the three compounds exhibited enantiotropic nematic phases only. And their cleating point temperature and thermal range of mesophase decreased with the number of fluorine atoms on the rigid core of the compounds; while their melting point temperature showed no distinct regularity. 展开更多

Three solid metal complexes of this ligand \[Ln(H2L)(NO3)\] NO3·2H2O (Ln=La, Sm, Ho) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV spectra, TG-DTG and molar conductance. The antibacterial activities of the ligand and its complexes are also studied. Four novel Schiff bases were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 2-hydroxyl-3-nitrobenzaldehyde with either benzothiazoles or benzimidazolamines. The compounds 1–4 were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical methods. The crystal structures of 6-methoxy-1,3-benzothiazol-2-amine and compound 2 are reported only. The 6-methoxy-1,3-benzothiazol-2-amine was found to crystallize in the orthorhombic crystal system in the space group Pbca, having eight molecules in the unit cell, while compound 2 was found to crystallize in the monoclinic crystal system in the space group P2_1/c. The biological activities of these compounds were investigated by evaluating their antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial, anti-HIV and anti-trypanosomiasis activities. These compounds displayed very interesting antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial, anti-trypanosomiasis, anti-HIV and low cytotoxicity activity against HeLa cells. 展开更多

The crystal is monoclinic, space group P2 1/c , with a=14.871(3), b=7.290(1), c=16.787(3) , β =106.97(3)°, V=1741(1) 3, D x =1.246 g/cm 3, Z=4, M r=326.40, λ =0 71073 , μ (Mo Kα) =0.792 cm -1 , F(000) =696. The final refinement is converged with R =0.057 and R w =0.058 for 1615 observed reflections I≥3σ(I) . Conjugated Schiff base macrocycles containing 1,3,3-oxadiazole were prepared by [2 + 2] cyclic condensation of phenylenediamine with 2,5-bis(m-formyl-phenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole. These macrocycles with iodine or TCNQ produced stable charge-transfer complexes. The formation of complexes were identified by UV-Vis and FT-IR spectra. 展开更多
