Macroscopic complete resection (MCR) is the goal of surgery (2). MCR seems to have the most significant impact on survival in patients undergoing multimodality treatment for MPM. The role of surgical resection in the management of MPM remains controversial. The selection criterion to perform either extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP) or extended/radical pleurectomy/ decortication (PD) rely not only on the cardio-pulmonary status of the patient, tumor stage and intraoperative findings but is strongly dependent also on surgeons' decision and philosophy. This is reflected by a recent survey of opinions and beliefs among 802 thoracic surgeons, in which EPP was believed to be more effective than PD (3). Applying the fluorescent carbon dots as smart materials in anticancer therapy is of great interest.However,carbon dots for multimodal synergistic anticancer therapy,especially for the triple modality,is rarely reporte...Applying the fluorescent carbon dots as smart materials in anticancer therapy is of great interest.However,carbon dots for multimodal synergistic anticancer therapy,especially for the triple modality,is rarely reported.Herein,we successfully synthesized OCDs by citric acid and(1R,2S)-2-amino-1,2-diphenylethan-1-ol,which show aggregation-induced emission property and two-photon fluorescence imaging.Meanwhile,OCDs are ideal photosensitizers for photothermal therapy under 808 nm and TypeⅠphotodynamic therapy with white light.Hydroxyl radicals,generated by TypeⅠphotodynamic therapy based on OCDs can transform protumoral M2 macrophages into antitumoral M1 macrophages,which exhibited immunotherapy ability.The synergism trimodal of OCDs results in potent anticancer efficacy,showing great potential in cancer therapy.展开更多
Here,evodiamine(EVO)and the photosensitizer indocyanine green(ICG)were integrated into a liposomal nanoplatform for noninvasive diagnostic imaging and combinatorial therapy against oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC).E...Here,evodiamine(EVO)and the photosensitizer indocyanine green(ICG)were integrated into a liposomal nanoplatform for noninvasive diagnostic imaging and combinatorial therapy against oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC).EVO,as an active component extracted from traditional Chinese medicine,not only functioned as an antitumor chemotherapeutic agent but was also capable of 68Ga-chelation,thus working as a contrast agent for positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT)imaging.Moreover,EVO could exhibit peroxidase-like catalytic activity,converting endogenous tumor H2O2 into cytotoxic reactive oxygen species(ROS),enabling Chemo catalytic therapy beyond the well-known chemotherapy effect of EVO.As proven by in vitro and in vivo experiments,guided by optical imaging and PET/CT imaging,we show that the theragnostic liposomes have a significant inhibiting effect on in situ tongue tumor through photodynamic therapy combined with chemodynamic chemotherapy.展开更多
