Because of the wide range of its inhibitory actions, jadomycin shows promise as a novel antibiotic and cancer treatment drug. Streptomyces venezuelae are aerobic bacteria that produce jadomycin and the size of bacterial population can significantly affect the yield of jadomycin. Therefore, the bacterial population must be accurately measured in order to standardize the reproducibility of jadomycin production process. In this study, a dehydrogenase activity measurement test, using triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC), was used to measure the dehydrogenase activity of Streptomyces venezuelae during growth in maltose-yeast extract-malt extract (MYM) broth. The aims were to evaluate the effectiveness of the test for measuring microbial growth and to study the effects of the test conditions (incubation time, incubation temperature and medium pH) on triphenyl formazan (TF) yield. The results showed that the TF yield was highly correlated to the optical density. The highest TF yield was observed at a pH of 6 at all incubation times and temperature. Lower TF yields were obtained at higher temperature (40 and 50oC) compared to those obtained at lower temperatures (22 and 30oC). The difference between the yields obtained at 22oC and 30oC were not significant. The differences between incubation time were also not significant. The recommended test conditions are an incubation time of 1 hour at a temperature of 30oC and a pH of 6 followed by three extractions using methanol.展开更多

The calculated results indicate that this kind of compounds has a lower energy difference between HOMO and LUMO. It is found that the electron cloud on unoccupied frontier orbital mainly comes from the contribution of C60, while that on occupied frontier orbital mainly concentrates on the side chain. The productivity is 58% - 83%. The molecular structures of the products were characterized by IR, NMR and elemental analysis. The sterilizing effect of 1,6-hexylidene triphenyl double phosphonium bromide(HTDPB) and 1,12- dodecylidene triphenyl double phosphonium bromide(DoTDPB) was evaluated by using extinct dilution method.The experimental result shows that the sterilizing effect of DoTDPB is better than the effect of HTDPB under the same drug concentration and contact time. When the concentration of DoTDPB was 20 mg/L and the contact time was 0.5 h, the sterilizing rate of DoTDPB used to kill saprophytic bacteria (TGB), sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and iron bacteria (IB) was 95.56%, 84% and 99.58% respectively.展开更多

Among, basic fuchsin (98%) was m...Six triphenylmethane dyes viz., bromophenol blue, basic fuchsin, methyl violet, methyl green, ethyl violet and malachite green were studied for their decolorization by Fomitopsis feei. Among, basic fuchsin (98%) was maximum decolorized followed by bromophenol blue (96.8%). However, the rate of bromophenol blue decolorization was very fast. There was no correlation between the lignolytic activity and dye decolurization of the dyes. The highest laccase and lignin peroxidase activities were observed in basic fuchsin (46 U/mL) and methyl green (44 U/mL) respectively after 21 days of incubation, which were poor dye degraders. The triphenylmethane reductase enzyme was the responsible enzyme for the decolorization of these triphenyl methane dyes. The treatment by using fungal organisms was considered to be the cost-effective and ecofriendly method of decolourization of effluents discharged from the dye industries.展开更多

Polystyrene (PS)/triphenyl phosphate (TPP) composites were prepared by both suspension polymerization and melt extrusion, and a comparative study of the flame retardance and mechanical properties was carried out. ...Polystyrene (PS)/triphenyl phosphate (TPP) composites were prepared by both suspension polymerization and melt extrusion, and a comparative study of the flame retardance and mechanical properties was carried out. The results showed that suspension polymerization was a better technique than melt extrusion for obtaining good dispersity of the PS/TPP composite. The TPP nanoparticles, which were approximately 50 nm in size, were homogenously and uniformly dispersed in the PS matrix by suspension polymerization in one-step. However, the PS/TPP composite was partially agglomerated, exhibiting irregularly shaped micron-scale particles as a result of melt extrusion. In contrast to the melt extrusion, the limited oxygen index (LOI) of the PS/TPP nanocomposite by suspension polymerization increased to 22.6% from 21.8%, and time to ignition (TTI) increased by 12.3%, the peak heat release rate (PHRR) decreased by 8.5%, and the total heat release (THR) decreased by 11.0%. The mechanical properties of the PS/TPP nanocomposite by suspension polymerization also increased. The tensile strength, elongation at break, and flexural strength increased by 36.4%, 8.5%, and 108%, respectively.展开更多

All of them show high thermal stability as revealed by their high glass transition temperatures and thermal decomposition temperatures at 5% weight loss. These polymers have wide band gaps and relatively high triplet energy levels. As a result, the spin coating method was used to prepare the green phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes with polymers PTPPO38CZ, PTPPO13CZ and PTTPO27CZ as the typical host materials. The green device of polymer PTPPO38CZ as host material shows electroluminescent performance with maximum current efficiency of 2.16 cd.A-1, maximum external quantum efficiency of 0.7%, maximum brightness of 1475 cd.m-2 and reduced efficiency roll-off of 7.14% at 600 cd.m-2, which are much better than those of the same devices hosted by polymers PTTPO27CZ and PTPPO13CZ.展开更多

X-Ray crystal structure shows a catenarian polymer of tandem interconnected copper cyanide, with C and N connecting to proximal Cu atoms. The Cu atoms adopt two different conformations: one exhibits linear construction, while the other exhibits distorted tetrahedral geometry through coordinating to two cyano groups and the P donors of triphenyl phosphite molecules. The feature of 1 is the propagation pattern of two- and four-coordination along with the chain. IR and electronic absorption spectra also confirm the established single crystal structure. Thermal analysis indicates that 1 has a high thermal stability. 3-D fluorescence result shows the middle absorption peaks with the maximum excitement and emission wavelength 342 and 350 nm, respectively.
