Numerical Simulation and Experimental Study of the Effects of Disposal Space on the Flow Field Around the Combined Three-Tube Reefs 被引量:6

The artificial reefs placed on the seabed with different layouts and disposal spaces will produce variational flow field. The intensity and scale of the combined three-tube artificial reefs with different layouts at five Reynolds numbers(Re) are numerically investigated by use of the RNG k-ε turbulent model and SIMPLEC algorithm. A stationary no-slip boundary condition is used on the models and the bottoms, and the free surface is treated as a "moving wall" with zero shear force and the same velocity with inflow. In order to validate the simulation results, a particle image velocimetry(PIV) experiment is carried out to analyze the flow field. The numerical simulation results are consistent with the data obtained from experiment. The corresponding errors are all below 20%. Based on the validation, the effects of disposal space on flow field are simulated and analyzed. According to the simulation, in a parallel combination, a better artificial reef effect is obtained when the disposal space between two parallel reefs is 1.0L(L is the length of the combined three-tube reef model). In a vertical combination, when the disposal space between two vertical reefs is 1.0L to 2.0L, the artificial reef effect is better. 展开更多

A numerical model for the unsteady flow under a pulsed magnetic field of a solenoid is developed, in which magnetohydrodynamic flow equations decouple into a transient magnetic diffusion equation and unsteady Navier–Stokes equations in conjunction with two equations of the k–ε turbulent model. A Fourier series method is used to implement the boundary condition of magnetic flux density under multiple periods of a pulsed magnetic field (PMF). The numerical results are compared with the theoretical or experimental results to validate the model under a time-harmonic magnetic field; it is found that the toroidal vortex pair is the dominating structure within the melt flow under a PMF. The velocity field of a molten melt is in a quasi-steady state after several periods; changing the direction of the electromagnetic force causes the vibration of the melt surface under a PMF. 展开更多

Many studies have been undertaken to predict local scour around offshore high-rise structure foundations(HRSFs),which have been used in constructing the Donghai Wind Farm in China.However,there have been few works on the turbulent flow that drives the scour process.In this study,the characteristics of the turbulent flow fields around an HRSF were investigated using the particle image velocimetry technique.The mean flow,vorticity,and turbulence intensity were analyzed in detail.The relationship between the flow feature and scour development around an HRSF was elaborated.The results showed that the flow velocity increased to its maximum value near the third row of the pile group.The shear layer and wake vortices could not be fully developed downstream of the last row of the piles at small Reynolds numbers.The strong flow and turbulent fluctuation near the third piles explained the existence of a longtail scour pattern starting from the HRSF shoulders and a trapezoidal deposition region directly downstream of HRSF.This laboratory experiment gains insight into the mechanism of the turbulent flow around HRSFs and provides a rare dataset for numerical model verifications. 展开更多

This equation has recently received some attention but so far the treatment has been one-dimensional. By using the structural similarity to the Klein-Gordon equation, the telegraph equation can be solved in closed form. Illustrative examples are used to discuss the qualitative differences from the diffusion solution. A comparison with a numerical test-particle simulation reveals that some features of an intensity profile can be better explained using the telegraph approach. 展开更多

The flow fields in fully baffled, cylindrical vessels of 250 and 360 mm diameter respectively, with a series of downflow pitched turbines (PTD) and upflow pitched turbines (PTU) have been measured using the two component LDA. The flow fields of the PTD and PTU are substantially more complex than the conventional patterns reported previously. Instead of a single circulation loop, the present results show that a primary circulation loop does not reach the bottom of the tank for an impeller clearance of the T/2, but it is accompanied by a secondary circulation loop. However, when the diameter of the impeller decrease from T/2 to T/3, the secondary circulation loop disappear. The distribution of axial pumping capacity is also provided. 展开更多

It is numericallyverified that adaptive-manually technique is effective to generate more continuous, smoothand orthogonal Laplace grid system. Numerical results show that there exist vortices andlower pressure domains around the damaged zone, which strengthen the wear by solidparticle in the drilling nuid and induce the cavitation effect, finally causing the erosion anddecrease in the life of rock bit. Atmospheric boundary layer(ABL)flow over multiple-hill terrain is studied numerically.The spectral vanishing viscosity(SVV)method is employed for implicit large eddy simulation(ILES).ABL flow over one hill,double hills,and three hills are presented in detail.The instantaneous three-dimensional vortex structures,mean velocity,and turbulence intensity in mainstream and vertical directions around the hills are investigated to reveal the main properties of this turbulent flow.During the flow evolution downstream,the Kelvin-Helmholtz vortex,braid vortex,and hairpin vortex are observed sequentially.The turbulence intensity is enhanced around crests and reduced in the recirculation zones.The present results are helpful for understanding the impact of topography on the turbulent flow.The findings can be useful in various fields,such as wind energy,air pollution,and weather forecasting. 展开更多
