Experimental investigations on dynamic in-plane compressive behavior of a plain weave composite were performed using the split Hopkinson pressure bar. A quantitative criterion for calculating the constant strain rate of composites was established. Then the upper limit of strain rate, restricted by stress equilibrium and constant loading rate, was rationally estimated and confirmed by tests. Within the achievable range of 0.001/s-895/s, it was found that the strength increased first and subsequently decreased as the strain rate increased. This feature was also reflected by the turning point(579/s) of the bilinear model for strength prediction. The transition in failure mechanism, from local opening damage to completely splitting destruction, was mainly responsible for such strain rate effects. And three major failure modes were summarized under microscopic observations: fiber fracture, inter-fiber fracture, and interface delamination. Finally, by introducing a nonlinear damage variable, a simplified ZWT model was developed to characterize the dynamic mechanical response. Excellent agreement was shown between the experimental and simulated results. 展开更多

Designing a rock reinforcement element requires knowledge of:geomechanical behaviour, interaction of the reinforcement element with rock mass and the element’s mechanistic response in static and dynamic environments.Using this knowledge the JTech bolt was developed and subjected to a thorough program to test, gather data and validate the bolt performance in varying domains.By conducting FE(finite element)modeling, the simulation reviews the JTech bolt design evaluating the effects of threadbar geometric variation, threadbar and nut engagement results under high stress, coating friction response and effects of thread tolerance extremes on the failure mode. These results determine safety factors, tolerances and quality management criteria.Once manufactured,in-situ system testing, laboratory and underground short encapsulation testing, resin mixing testing, double shear testing and dynamic testing at varying velocity and mass, determine the system’s capacity and effectiveness in static,quasi-static and dynamic mining environments. In this paper, the process and results are described. 展开更多

This work investigated the removal, kinetics and thermodynamics of iron(II) ions (Fe(II)) by adsorption in static and dynamic conditions in aqueous media on activated carbons (AC-i30min, AC-i1h, and AC-i24h), prepared from palm nut shells collected in the city of Franceville to Gabon, using potassium hydroxide (KOH) as the activating agent. Results on the elimination of Fe(II) in static and dynamic adsorption on prepared activated carbons (ACs) showed that the AC-i24h adsorbent has the best Fe(II) adsorption capacities at saturation (Qsat). The Qsat obtained on AC-i24h in static and dynamic conditions (17.87 and 10.38 mg/g, respectively) were higher than those of AC-i30min (13.89 and 5.54 mg/g respectively) and AC-i1h (14.92 and 8.64 mg/g respectively). Moreover, the static adsorption was more effective in the removal of Fe(II) ions in aqueous media in our experimental conditions. The percentage removal (%E) of Fe(II) obtained on prepared activated carbons in static conditions was better than those obtained in dynamic conditions, especially on AC-i24h, where the %E was 89.27% in static and 61.56% in dynamic. In kinetics, results showed that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model best described the adsorption mechanisms of Fe(II) on prepared activated carbons in static adsorption, with mainly of chemisorption on the solid surfaces. However, in dynamic conditions, the pseudo-first-order kinetic model was more suitable. In addition to the weak interactions between Fe(II) and the activated carbon surfaces, strong interactions (chemisorption) were also observed. Also, thermodynamic data obtained on AC-i24h in static adsorption indicated that the adsorption of Fe(II) was spontaneous and increased with temperature (ΔG˚ H˚ = 503.54 KJ/mol). 展开更多

The oil film thickness of oil hydrostatic guide with constant pressure supply based on capillary restrictor is greatly affected by load, and this kind of hydrostatic guide is usually applied to the machine tools with moderate load. The static and dynamic characteristics of the guide have been studied by using some theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches, and some methods and measures have been proposed to improve its performances. The hydrostatic guide based on progressive mengen(PM) flow controller is especially suitable for the heavy numerical control(NC) machine tools. However, few literatures about the research on the static and dynamic characteristics of the hydrostatic guides based on PM flow controller are reported. In this paper, the formulae are derived for analyzing the static and dynamic characteristics of hydrostatic guides with rectangle pockets and PM flow controller according to the theory of hydrostatic bearing. On the basis of the analysis of hydrostatic bearing with circular pocket, some equations are derived for solving the static pressure, volume pressure and squeezing pressure which influence the dynamic characteristics of hydrostatic guides with rectangle pocket. The function and the influencing factors of three pressures are clarified. The formulae of amplitude-frequency characteristics and dynamic stiffness of the hydrostatic guide system are derived. With the help of software MATLAB, programs are coded with C++ language to simulate numerically the static and dynamic characteristics of the hydrostatic guide based on PM flow controller. The simulation results indicate that the sensitive oil volume between the outlet of the PM flow controller and the guide pocket has the greatest influence on the characteristics of the guide, and it should be reduced as small as possible when the field working condition is met. Choosing the oil with a greater viscosity is also helpful in improving the dynamic performance of hydrostatic guides. The research work has instructing significance for analyzing and designing the guide with PM flow controller. 展开更多

The nonlinear dynamic and static deflection of a micro/nano gyroscope under DC voltages and base rotation are investigated. The gyroscope undertakes two cou- pled bending motions along the drive and sense directions and subjected to electrostatic actuations and intermolecular forces. The nonlinear governing equations of motion for the system with the effect of electrostatic force, intermolecular tractions and base rotation are derived using extended Hamilton principle. Under constant voltage, the gyroscope finds the preformed shape. First, the deflection of the rnicro/nano gyroscope under electrostatic forces is obtained by static and dynamic analyses. Furthermore, the static and dynamic in- stability of the system are investigated. Afterward the oscillatory behavior of the pre-deformed micro/nano gyroscope around equilibrium is studied. The effects of intermolecular and nonlinear parameters on the static and dynamic de- flection, natural frequencies and instability of the micro/nano gyroscope are studied. The presented model can be used to exactly determine static and the dynamic behavior of vibratory micro/nano gyroscopes. 展开更多

In several previous studies,it was reported that a supported pipe with small geometric imperfections would lose stability when the internal flow velocity became sufficiently high.Recently, however,it has become clear that this conclusion may be at best incomplete.A reevaluation of the problem is undertaken here by essentially considering the flow-induced static deformation of a pipe. With the aid of the absolute nodal coordinate formulation(ANCF)and the extended Lagrange equations for dynamical systems containing non-material volumes, the nonlinear governing equations of a pipe with three different geometric imperfections are introduced and formulated.Based on extensive numerical calculations, the static equilibrium configuration, the stability, and the nonlinear dynamics of the considered pipe system are determined and analyzed. The results show that for a supported pipe with the geometric imperfection of a half sinusoidal wave, the dynamical system could not lose stability even if the flow velocity reaches an extremely high value of 40.However,for a supported pipe with the geometric imperfection of one or one and a half sinusoidal waves, the first-mode buckling instability would take place at high flow velocity. Moreover, based on a further parametric analysis, the effects of the amplitude of the geometric imperfection and the aspect ratio of the pipe on the static deformation, the critical flow velocity for buckling instability, and the nonlinear responses of the supported pipes with geometric imperfections are analyzed. 展开更多

In this article, dynamic method and static method of testing Poisson's ratio of OSB(Oriented Strand Board)were proposed.Through modal and static numerical analyses, the position where the transverse stress is equal to zero was determined. The binary linear regression method was applied to express the gluing position of the strain gauge as a relational express ion that depended on the length-width ratio and width-thickness ratio of the canti-lever plate. Then the longitudinal and transverse Poisson's ratios of OSB were mea sured by the given dynamic and static methods. In addition, the test results of OSB Poisson's ratio were analyzed with the probability distribution of random variables. The results showed that using the proposed dynamic method and static method, the test results for longitudinal and transverse Poisson's ratios of OSB were quite consistent, despite the gluing position of the strain gauges being different. And these OSB Poisson's ratios were accorded with that obtained by the axial tensile method and the four-point bending method.OSB longitudinal and transverse Poisson's ratios followed Weibull distribution. 展开更多

Rock failure phenomena, such as rockburst, slabbing(or spalling) and zonal disintegration, related to deep underground excavation of hard rocks are frequently reported and pose a great threat to deep mining.Currently, the explanation for these failure phenomena using existing dynamic or static rock mechanics theory is not straightforward. In this study, new theory and testing method for deep underground rock mass under coupled static-dynamic loading are introduced. Two types of coupled loading modes,i.e.'critical static stress + slight disturbance' and 'elastic static stress + impact disturbance',are proposed, and associated test devices are developed.Rockburst phenomena of hard rocks under coupled static-dynamic loading are successfully reproduced in the laboratory, and the rockburst mechanism and related criteria are demonstrated. The results of true triaxial unloading compression tests on granite and red sandstone indicate that the unloading can induce slabbing when the confining pressure exceeds a certain threshold, and the slabbing failure strength is lower than the shear failure strength according to the conventional Mohr-Column criterion.Numerical results indicate that the rock unloading failure response under different in situ stresses and unloading rates can be characterized by an equivalent strain energy density. In addition,we present a new microseismic source location method without premeasuring the sound wave velocity in rock mass, which can efficiently and accurately locate the rock failure in hard rock mines. Also,a new idea for deep hard rock mining using a non-explosive continuous mining method is briefly introduced. 展开更多

This paper provides the static and dynamic pullin behavior of nano-beams resting on the elastic foundation based on the nonlocal theory which is able to capture the size effects for structures in micron and sub-micron scales. For this purpose, the governing equation of motion and the boundary conditions are driven using a variational approach. This formulation includes the influences of fringing field and intermolecular forces such as Casimir and van der Waals forces. The differential quadrature (DQ) method is employed as a high-order approximation to discretize the governing nonlinear differential equation, yielding more accurate results with a Considerably smaller number of grid points. In addition, a powerful analytical method called parameter expansion method (PEM) is utilized to compute the dynamic solution and frequency-amplitude relationship. It is illustrated that the first two terms in series expansions are sufficient to produce an acceptable solution of the mentioned structure. Finally, the effects of basic parameters on static and dynamic pull-in insta- bility and natural frequency are studied. 展开更多

The static and dynamic precipitation behavior of solution-treated binary Al-20 wt.% Zn alloy is investigated via artificial aging, cold rolling and artificial aging combined with cold rolling. The solution-treated Al-Zn alloy exhibits high thermal stability during aging, and low densities of nano-sized Zn particles are precipitated along with AI grain boundaries after aging at 200℃ for 13 h. Compared with static precipitation, dynamic precipitation occurs more easily in the Al-Zn alloy. Zn clusters are obtained after cold rolling at an equivalent plastic strain of 0.6, and the size of the Zn phase reaches hundreds of nanometers when the strain is increased to 12.1. The results show that the speed of static precipitation can be significantly enhanced after the application of 2.9 rolling strain. Grain refinement and defects induced by cold rolling are considered to promote Zn precipitation. The hardness of Al-Zn alloy is also affected by static and dynamic precipitations. 展开更多

The Republic of Serbia is characterized by an unsatisfactory macroeconomic environment. Under the conditions of an evident shortage of liquid assets, the financial capital has moved from real to the financial sector, which led companies to over-indebtedness and shutdown of their own capacities. Therefore, capital investments largely depend on internal financing sources and the ability of companies to internally generate funds for investments. In this regard, an emphasis is placed on the difference in the assessment of the company's investment capacity based on internal financing sources, which are measured using static and dynamic indicators in order to prove the necessity of applying dynamic coefficients, which are unfortunately not present in our domestic practice. The paper examines and proves the advantages of the use of the dynamic approach for such analyses using the example of energy sector, which is one of the most important branches in Serbian economy. 展开更多

This study explores the effects of dynamic and static loading on rock bolt performance a key factor in maintaining the structural safety of coal mine roadways susceptible to coal bursts.Employing a housemade load frame to simulate various failure scenarios,pretension-impact-pull tests on rock bolts were conducted to scrutinize their dynamic responses under varied static load conditions and their failure traits under combined loads. The experimental results denote that with increased impact energy, maximum and average impact loads on rock bolts escalate significantly under pretension, initiating plastic deformation beyond a certain threshold.Despite minor reductions in the yield load due to impactinduced damage, pretension aids in constraining post-impact deformation rate and fluctuation degree of rock bolts.Moreover,impact-induced plastic deformation causes internal microstructure dislocation, fortifying the stiffness of the rock bolt support system. The magnitude of this fortification is directly related to the plastic deformation induced by the impact. These findings provide crucial guidance for designing rock bolt support in coal mine roadway excavation, emphasizing the necessity to consider both static and dynamic loads for improved safety and efficiency. 展开更多

The stability control of fissured rock is difficult, especially under static and dynamic loads in deep coal mines. In this paper, the dynamic mechanical properties, strain rate evolution and energy dissipation of fissured and anchored rocks were respectively obtained by SHPB tests. It was found that bolt can provide supporting efficiency-improving effect for fissured rock against dynamic disturbance, and this effect increased quadratically with decrease in anchoring angles. Then, the energy dissipation mechanism of anchored rock was obtained by slipping model.Furthermore, bolt energy-absorbing mechanism by instantaneous tensile-shear deformation was expressed based on material mechanics, which was the larger the anchoring angle, the smaller the energy absorption, and the less the contribution to supporting efficiency improvement. On this basis, the functional relationship between energy dissipation of anchored rock and energy absorption of bolt was established.Taking the coal-gangue separation system of Longgu coal mine as an example, the optimal anchoring angle can be determined as 57.5°–67.5°.Field monitoring showed fissured rock with the optimal anchoring angle, can not only effectively control the deformation, but also fully exert the energy-absorbing and efficiency-improving effect of bolt itself. This study provides guidance to the stability control and supporting design for deep engineering under the same or similar conditions. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Preschoolers become anxious when they are about to undergo anesthesia and surgery, warranting the development of more appropriate and effective interventions.AIM To explore the effect of static cartoons combined with dynamic virtual environments on preoperative anxiety and anesthesia induction compliance in preschool-aged children undergoing surgery.METHODS One hundred and sixteen preschool-aged children were selected and assigned to the drug(n=37),intervention(n=40),and control(n=39)groups.All the children received routine preoperative checkups and nursing before being transferred to the preoperative preparation room on the day of the operation. The drug group received 0.5 mg/kg midazolam and the intervention group treatment consisting of static cartoons combined with dynamic virtual environments. The control group received no intervention. The modified Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale was used to evaluate the children’s anxiety level on the day before surgery(T0),before leaving the preoperative preparation room(T1),when entering the operating room(T2),and at anesthesia induction(T3).Compliance during anesthesia induction(T3)was evaluated using the Induction Compliance Checklist(ICC).Changes in mean arterial pressure(MAP),heart rate(HR),and respiratory rate(RR)were also recorded at each time point.RESULTS The anxiety scores of the three groups increased variously at T1 and T2.At T3,both the drug and intervention groups had similar anxiety scores, both of which were lower than those in the control group. At T1 and T2,MAP,HR,and RR of the three groups increased. The drug and control groups had significantly higher MAP and RR than the intervention group at T2.At T3,the MAP,HR,and RR of the drug group decreased and were significantly lower than those in the control group but were comparable to those in the intervention group. Both the drug and intervention groups had similar ICC scores and duration of anesthesia induction(T3),both of which were higher than those of the control group.CONCLUSION Combining static cartoons with dynamic virtual environments as effective as medication, specifically midazolam,in reducing preoperative anxiety and fear in preschool-aged children. This approach also improve their compliance during anesthesia induction and helped maintain their stable vital signs. 展开更多

The paper is devoted to mathematical modelling of static and dynamic stability of a simply supported three-layered beam with a metal foam core. Mechanical properties of the core vary along the vertical direction. The field of displacements is for- mulated using the classical broken line hypothesis and the proposed nonlinear hypothesis that generalizes the classical one. Using both hypotheses, the strains are determined as well as the stresses of each layer. The kinetic energy, the elastic strain energy, and the work of load are also determined. The system of equations of motion is derived using Hamilton's principle. Finally, the system of three equations is reduced to one equation of motion, in particular, the Mathieu equation. The Bubnov-Galerkin method is used to solve the system of equations of motion, and the Runge-Kutta method is used to solve the second-order differential equation. Numerical calculations are done for the chosen family of beams. The critical loads, unstable regions, angular frequencies of the beam, and the static and dynamic equilibrium paths are calculated analytically and verified numerically. The results of this study are presented in the forms of figures and tables. 展开更多
