The article introduces a finite element procedure using the bilinear quadrilateral element or four-node rectangular element(namely Q4 element) based on a refined first-order shear deformation theory(rFSDT) and Monte Carlo simulation(MCS), so-called refined stochastic finite element method to investigate the random vibration of functionally graded material(FGM) plates subjected to the moving load.The advantage of the proposed method is to use r-FSDT to improve the accuracy of classical FSDT, satisfy the stress-free condition at the plate boundaries, and combine with MCS to analyze the vibration of the FGM plate when the parameter inputs are random quantities following a normal distribution. The obtained results show that the distribution characteristics of the vibration response of the FGM plate depend on the standard deviation of the input parameters and the velocity of the moving load.Furthermore, the numerical results in this study are expected to contribute to improving the understanding of FGM plates subjected to moving loads with uncertain input parameters. 展开更多

In this paper, two methods are developed for predicting the fatigue lives of RC structures strengthened with carbon fiber [aminate (CFL) under random loading based on a residual life and a residual strength model. To discuss the efficiency of the model, 12 RC beams strengthened with CFL are tested under random loading by the MTS810 testing system. In this study, the coupled heave-pitch motion equations of a spar platform were established by considering lst-order and 2nd-order random wave loads and the effects of time-varying displacement volume and transient wave elevation. We generated random wave loads based on frequency-domain wave load transfer functions and the Joint North Sea Wave Project (JONSWAP) wave spectrum, designed program codes to solve the motion equations, and then simulated the coupled heave-pitch motion responses of the platform in the time domain. We then calculated and compared the motion responses in different sea conditions and separately investigated the effects of 2nd-order random wave loads and transient wave elevation. The results show that the coupled heave-pitch motion responses of the platform are primarily dominated by wave height and the characteristic wave period, the latter of which has a greater impact. 2nd-order mean wave loads mainly affect the average heave value. The platform's pitch increases after the 2nd-order low frequency wave loads are taken into account. The platform's heave is underestimated if the transient wave elevation term in the motion equations is neglected. 展开更多

The pseudo-excitation method combined with the integral transform method (PEM-ITM) is presented to investigate the ground vibration of a coupled track-soil system induced by moving random loads. Commonly in the track model, the rail, sleepers, rail pads, and ballast are modelled as an infinite Euler beam, discretely distributed masses, discretely distributed vertical springs, and a viscoelastic layer, respectively. The soil is regarded as a homogenous isotropic half-space coupled with the track using the boundary condition at the surface of the ground. By introducing a pseudo-excitation, the random vibration analysis of the coupled system is converted into a harmonic analysis. The analytical form of evolutionary power spectral density responses of the simplified coupled track-soil system under a random moving load is derived in the frequency/wavenumber domain by PEM-ITM. In the numerical examples, the effects of different parameters, such as the moving speed, the soil properties, and the coherence of moving loads, on the ground response are investigated. 展开更多

AIM:To assess the efficacy and advantages of 4-wk pegylated interferon a-2a(peg-IFN-a2a) monotherapy for chronic hepatitis C patients with strong predictors of sustained virologic response(SVR).METHODS:Patients(n = 33) with genotype 2 and low viral load(< 100 KIU/mL),who became HCV RNA negative after 1 wk of IFN treatment,were randomly allocated to receive a 4-or 12-wk treatment course at a ratio of 2:1,respectively,with a subsequent 24-wk follow-up period.Peg-IFN-a2a was administered subcutaneously at a dose of 180 μg or 90 μg once weekly.SVR was defined as absence of serum HCV RNA at the end of the follow-up period.RESULTS:All patients completed the treatment schedule,and more than half were symptom-free during the treatment.In the 4-wk treatment group,20 of 22(91%) patients achieved SVR.Two patients relapsed,but achieved SVR following re-treatment with peg-IFN-a2a alone.In the 12-wk treatment group,11 of 11(100%) patients attained SVR.CONCLUSION:Our results show that a 4-wk course of peg-IFN-a2a monotherapy can achieve a high SVR rate in "IFN-sensitive" patients,without negatively affecting outcome. 展开更多

In the calculation, cyclic hardening (or softening) of a material istaken into account, which results in the increase (or decrease) of the yield stress. Forsimplification, it is assumed that stress and strain in cyclic loading vary in accordancewith the hysteresis loop. Fatigue toughness of a material can be detennined bysymmetric cyclic stress controlled fatigue test. A method, rational and convenient forengineering, is proposed to estimate the fatigue life under random loading based onplastic hysteresis energy theorem. In seismic data processing, random noise seriously affects the seismic data quality and subsequently the interpretation. This study aims to increase the signal-to-noise ratio by suppressing random noise and improve the accuracy of seismic data interpretation without losing useful information. Hence, we propose a structure-oriented polynomial fitting filter. At the core of structure-oriented filtering is the characterization of the structural trend and the realization of nonstationary filtering. First, we analyze the relation of the frequency response between two-dimensional(2D) derivatives and the 2D Hilbert transform. Then, we derive the noniterative seismic local dip operator using the 2D Hilbert transform to obtain the structural trend. Second, we select polynomial fitting as the nonstationary filtering method and expand the application range of the nonstationary polynomial fitting. Finally, we apply variableamplitude polynomial fitting along the direction of the dip to improve the adaptive structureoriented filtering. Model and field seismic data show that the proposed method suppresses the seismic noise while protecting structural information. 展开更多

Furthermore, amultiaxial fatigue life prediction model including the parameters resulted from multiaxial cyclecounting is presented and applied to calculating the fatigue damage generated from each cycle.Finally, the cumulative damage is added up using Miner's linear rule, and the fatigue predictionlife is given. The experiments under multiaxial loading blocks are used for the verification of theproposed method. The prediction has a good correction with the experimental results. 展开更多

In this study, systematic physical model tests were performed to investigate the wave forces on the twin-plate breakwater under irregular waves. Based on the experimental results, the effects of the relative plate width B/L,wave height Hs/D and incident angle θ0 on the wave forces were analyzed and discussed. The results showed that:(1) The envelopes of the total wave pressure were generally symmetrical along the direction of plate width under the incident angles(θ0) being 0°, 15°, 30°, 45° and 60°. In particular, the envelopes of wave pressure atθ0=30° were larger than all other cases.(2) The synchronous pressure distribution of the breakwater under oblique wave action was more complicated comparing to the normal incident waves.(3) Based on data analysis, an empirical formula was obtained to estimate the total vertical force of the twin-plate breakwater.This empirical formula can be a good reference for the design basis of engineering applications under specified wave conditions. 展开更多

An algorithm integrating reduced order model(ROM),equivalent linearization(EL),and finite element method(FEM)is proposed to carry out geometrically nonlinear random vibration analysis of stiffened plates under acoustic pressure loading.Based on large deflection finite element formulation,the nonlinear equations of motion of stiffened plates are obtained.To reduce the computation,a reduced order model of the structures is established.Then the EL technique is incorporated into FE software NASTRAN by the direct matrix abstraction program(DMAP).For the stiffened plates,a finite element model of beam and plate assembly is established,in which the nodes of beam elements are shared with shell elements,and the offset and section properties of the beam are set.The presented method can capture the root-mean-square(RMS) of the stress responses of shell and beam elements of stiffened plates,and analyze the stress distribution of the stiffened surface and the unstiffened surface,respectively.Finally,the statistical dynamic response results obtained by linear and EL methods are compared.It is shown that the proposed method can be used to analyze the geometrically nonlinear random responses of stiffened plates.The geometric nonlinearity plays an important role in the vibration response of stiffened plates,particularly at high acoustic pressure loading. 展开更多

Crack growth tests and analyses of CCT specimens made of LY12CZ Al-uminium alloy and 30CrMnSiA high strength steel materials are carried out. The speci-mens are subjected to transport flight-by-flight random spectra of high loads encoun-tered 10 times per 1000 flights. The crack growth life is predicted with an equivalentmodel. Comparing the spectra based on 100 flights with those based on 1000 flights, theformer requires only 10 per cent data for cycles. Experiment results show that the differ-ences between two spectra are less than 10% for crack growth life. A more simply con-densed spectrum is derived, retaining groundtoair cycle during every flight and ar-ranging some constant amplitude cycles according to equivalent damage rule. The dataof this spectrum is 10 per cent less than that based on 100 flights, but the differences oftwo spectra whether the predicted or tested results for crack growth life are less than 15per cent. Accordingly, a complex random spectrum may arbitranly be changed to acondensed spectrum with equivalent damage rule, reducing calculation and test work. 展开更多

Codebook-based multiple input multiple output(MIMO) beamforming can significantly improve the system spectral efficiency with limited feedback and gets widely adopted.However,this scheme has a drawback of heavy feedback load that the sum feedback rate can be a bottleneck for the communication system,especially when the number of users is large.In this paper,a new scheme using pseudo-random beamforming vectors and angle based threshold in the feedback process is proposed.In the proposed scheme,both the base-station and the users have no need to store a codebook.In each access procedure,the base-station generates a pseudo-random beamforming vector,and each user calculates the angle between the beamforming vectors and its channel state information(CSI) vector.If the angle is less than a predefined angle-threshold,the user feeds back its channel quality indicators(CQI),otherwise it keep silence.Compared with the codebook based scheme,the proposed scheme can largely reduce the sum feedback rate with negligible throughput loss.In particular,when the system has a constraint on the total sum feedback rate in uplink channel,the proposed scheme can increase the system throughput significantly. 展开更多
