It is necessary to explore the flow characteristics and hot workability of LAHS steels during the multi-pass forging process, which is beneficial to the formulation of actual processing parameters. In the study, the multi-pass hot compression experiments of a typical LAHS steel are carried out at a wide range of deformation temperatures and strain rates. It is found that the work hardening rate of the experimental material depends on deformation parameters and deformation passes, which is ascribed to the impacts of static and dynamic softening behaviors. A new model is established to describe the flow characteristics at various deformation passes. Compared to the classical Arrhenius model and modified Zerilli and Armstrong model, the newly proposed model shows higher prediction accuracy with a confidence level of 0.98565. Furthermore, the connection between power dissipation efficiency(PDE) and deformation parameters is revealed by analyzing the microstructures. The PDE cannot be utilized to reflect the efficiency of energy dissipation for microstructure evolution during the entire deformation process, but only to assess the efficiency of energy dissipation for microstructure evolution in a specific deformation parameter state. As a result, an integrated processing map is proposed to better study the hot workability of the LAHS steel, which considers the effects of instability factor(IF), PDE, and distribution and size of grains. The optimized processing parameters for the multi-pass deformation process are the deformation parameters of 1223–1318 K and 0.01–0.08 s^(-1). Complete dynamic recrystallization occurs within the optimized processing parameters with an average grain size of 18.36–42.3 μm. The influence of cylindrical capsule characteristics on FGH4096M superalloy powder compact deformation and densification behavior during HIP was investigated through simulations and experiments. Results revealed the simulation shrinkage prediction fitted well with the experimental shrinkage including a maximum shrinkage error of 1.5%. It was shown that the axial shrinkage was 1.7% higher than radial shrinkage for a cylindrical capsule with the size of ∮50 mm × 100 mm due to the force arm difference along the axial and radial direction of the capsule. The stress deviated from the isostatic state in the capsule led to the uneven shrinkage and non-uniform densification of the powder compact. The temperature range was 900–1150℃ and the strain rate range was 0.01–5 s^(-1)on a Gleeble-3800 thermal simulator machine. The results showed that the flow stress increased with decreasing deformation temperature and increasing strain rate. 文摘The hot deformation behavior of Mn18Cr18N and Mn18Cr18N+Ce high nitrogen austenitic stainless steels at 1173-1473 K and 0.01-1 s^(-1) were investigated by thermal compression tests. The influence mechanism of Ce on the hot deformation behavior was analyzed by Ce-containing inclusions and segregation of Ce.The results show that after the addition of Ce,large, angular, hard, and brittle inclusions(TiN-Al_(2)O_(3),TiN,and Al_(2)O_(3)) can be modified to fine and dispersed Ce-containing inclusions(Ce-Al-O-S and TiN-Ce-Al-O-S).During the solidification,Ce-containing inclusions can be used as heterogeneous nucleation particles to refine as-cast grains.During the hot deformation,Ce-containing inclusions can pin dislocation movement and grain boundary migration, induce dynamic recrystallization(DRX)nucleation, and avoid the formation and propagation of micro cracks and gaps.In addition, during the solidification,Ce atoms enrich at the front of solid-li-quid interface, resulting in composition supercooling and refining the secondary dendrites.Similarly, during the hot deformation,Ce atoms tend to segregate at the boundaries of DRX grains, inhibiting the growth of grains.Under the synergistic effect of Ce-containing inclusions and Ce segregation, although the hot deformation resistance and hot deformation activation energy are improved,DRX is more likely to occur and the size of DRX grains is significantly refined, and the problem of hot deformation cracking can be alleviated. Finally, the microhardness of the samples was measured. The results show that compared with as-cast samples, the microhardness of hot-deformed samples increases signific-antly,and with the increase of DRX degree, the microhardness decreases continuously. In addition,Ce can affect the microhardness of Mn18Cr18N steel by affecting as-cast and hot deformation microstructures.

文摘The extruded AZ80+0.4%Ce magnesium alloy was twisted in the temperature range of 300-380℃by using a Gleeble 3500 thermal simulation test machine with a torsion unit. The deformed cylindrical specimens were cooled at a cooling rate of 10℃/s or 0.1℃/s,respectively,and aged at 170℃.The microstructure analysis results showed that the grain size decreased with increasing specimen radial position from center(SRPC),and that the strong initial basal texture of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened. Both continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization mechanisms were involved in contributing to the grain refinement for all specimens investigated. And a novel extension twinning induced dynamic recrystallization mechanism was proposed for specimen deformed at 300℃.For the specimens deformed at 300℃and 340℃followed by a slow cooling rate(0.1℃/s),precipitates of various shapes(β-Mg_(17)Al_(12)),with the dominant precipitates being on the grains boundaries, appeared on the surface section. For specimen deformed at 380℃,lamellar precipitates(LPS)in the interiors of the grains were predominant. After aging, the LPS still dominated for specimens twisted at 380℃;however,the LPS gradually decreased with decreasing deformation temperatures from 380℃to 300℃.Dynamically precipitatedβ,especially those decorating the grain boundaries, changed the competition pictures for the LPS and precipitates of other shapes after aging.Interestingly,LPS dominated the areas for the center section of the specimens after aging regardless of deformation temperatures.Low temperature deformation with high SRPC followed by rapid cooling rate increased the micro hardness of the alloy after aging due to refined grain, reduced precipitates size, decreased lamellar spacing as well as strain hardening.

文摘Hot compression tests were performed to investigate the hot deformation behavior of Fe–27.34Mn–8.63Al–1.03C lightweight steel and optimize the hot workability parameters. The temperature range was 900–1150℃ and the strain rate range was 0.01–5 s^(-1)on a Gleeble-3800 thermal simulator machine. The results showed that the flow stress increased with decreasing deformation temperature and increasing strain rate. According to the constitutive equation, the activation energy of hot deformation was 422.88 kJ·mol^(-1). The relationship between the critical stress and peak stress of the tested steel was established, and a dynamic recrystallization kinetic model was thus obtained. Based on this model, the effects of strain rate and deformation temperature on the volume fraction of dynamically recrystallized grains were explored. The microstructural examination and processing map results revealed that the tested steel exhibited a good hot workability at deformation temperatures of 1010–1100℃ and strain rate of 0.01 s^(-1).

文摘Isothermal hot compression experiments were conducted on homogenized Mg-8.5Gd-4.5Y-0.8Zn-0.4Zr alloy to investigate hot deformation behavior at the temperature range of 673-773 K and the strain rate range of 0.001-1 s^(-1)by using a Gleeble-1500D thermo mechanical simulator.Metallographic characterization on samples deformed to true strain of 0.70 illustrates the occurrence of flow localization and/or microcrack at deformation conditions of 673 K/0.01 s^(-1),673 K/1 s^(-1)and 698 K/1 s^(-1),indicating that these three deformation conditions should be excluded during hot working of homogenized Mg-8.5Gd-4.5Y-0.8Zn-0.4Zr alloy.Based on the measured true stress-strain data, the strain-compensated Arrhenius constitutive model was constructed and then incorporated into UHARD subroutine of ABAQUS software to study hot deformation process of homogenized Mg-8.5Gd-4.5Y-0.8Zn-0.4Zr alloy.By comparison with measured force-displacement curves, the predicted results can describe well the rheological behavior of homogenized Mg-8.5Gd-4.5Y-0.8Zn-0.4Zr alloy, verifying the validity of finite element simulation of hot compression process with this complicated constitutive model.Numerical results demonstrate that the distribution of values of material parameters(α,n,Q and ln A)within deformed sample is inhomogeneous. This issue is directly correlated to the uneven distribution of equivalent plastic strain due to the friction effect. Moreover,at a given temperature the increase of strain rate would result in the decrease of equivalent plastic strain within the central region of deformed sample, which hinders the occurrence of dynamic recrystallization(DRX).

文摘Despite the industrial significance of grain size for enhancing mechanical properties and formability, the in-depth deformation mechanisms at elevated temperature are still unclear. To investigate the functions of grain size on hot workability and deformation mechanisms, three groups of Mg-1.2Zn-0.2Y alloy specimens with different grain sizes were hot compressed and then studied by combining constitutive model, processing map and microstructural observations. The results showed that the enhanced hot workability accompanying low deformation activation energy and small instability regime was obtained with refined grain size.During hot deformation, the decreased grain size in Mg1.2Zn-0.2Y alloy mainly improved the plastic deformation homogeneity, especially for the weakened local straining around grain boundaries. As a result, the dynamic recrystallization nucleation and texture development at lower strain level were influenced by the initial grain size.At higher strain magnitude, the growth and coarsening of dynamic recrystallized grains would further release strain localization and improve hot workability, while the texture was less impacted.Further, unlike the primary basal slip and deformation twinning in the specimen with coarse grain at low temperature,non-basal slips of dislocations were initiated with less deformation twins in the specimens with refined grain size.

文摘The high temperature compression test of Be/2024Al composites with 62wt%Be was conducted at 500–575℃ and strain rate of0.003–0.1 s^(-1).The strain-compensated Arrhenius model and modified Johnson–Cook model were introduced to predict the hot deformation behavior of Be/2024Al composites. The result shows that the activation energy of Be/2024Al composites was 363.364 k J·mol^(-1).Compared with composites reinforced with traditional ceramics,Be/2024Al composites can be deformed with ultra-high content of reinforcement, attributing to the deformable property of Be particles. The average relative error of the two models shows that modified Johnson–Cook model was more suitable for low temperature condition while strain-compensated Arrhenius model was more suitable for high temperature condition. The processing map was generated and a hot extrusion experiment was conducted according to the map.A comparation of the microstructure of Be/2024Al composites before and after extrusion shows that the Be particle deformed coordinately with the matrix and elongated at the extrusion direction.

文摘The hot compression behavior of as-extruded Mg-0.6Mn-0.5Al-0.5Zn-0.4Ca alloy was studied on a Gleeble-3500 thermal simulation machine.Experiments were conducted at temperatures ranging from 523 to 673 K and strain rates ranging from 0.001 to 1 s^(-1).Results showed that an increase in the strain rate or a decrease in deformation temperature led to an increase in true stress. The constitutive equation and processing maps of the alloy were obtained and analyzed. The influence of deformation temperatures and strain rates on microstructural evolution and texture was studied with the assistance of electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD).The as-extruded alloy exhibited a bimodal structure that consisted of deformed coarse grains and fine equiaxed recrystallized structures(approximately 1.57μm).The EBSD results of deformed alloy samples revealed that the recrystallization degree and average grain size increased as the deformation temperature increased.By contrast, dislocation density and texture intensity decreased.Compressive texture weakened with the increase in the deformation temperature at the strain rate of 0.01 s-1.Most grains with{0001}planes tilted away from the compression direction(CD)gradually. In addition, when the strain rate decreased, the recrystallization degree and average grain size increased.Meanwhile, the dislocation density decreased.Texture appeared to be insensitive to the strain rate. These findings provide valuable insights into the hot compression behavior, microstructural evolution, and texture changes in the Mg-0.6Mn-0.5Al-0.5Zn-0.4Ca alloy, contributing to the understanding of its processing-microstructure-property relationships.

文摘The static recrystallization behavior of 25CrMo4 mirror plate steel has been determined by hot compression testing on a Gleeble 1500 thermal mechanical simulation tester. Compression tests were performed using double hit schedules at temperatures of 950-- 1 150 ~C, strain rates of 0.01--0.5 s-1 , and recrystallization time of 1--100 s. Results show that the kinetics of static recrystallization and the microstructural evolution were greatly influenced by the deformation parameters (deformation temperature, strain rate and pre strain) and the initial austenite grain size. Based on the experimental results, the kinetics model of static recrystallization has been generated and the comparison between the experimental results and the predicted results has been carried out. It is shown that the predicted results were in good agreement with the experimental results.

文摘The behavior evolvement of Mg-7.22Gd-4.84Y-1.26Nd-0.58Zr(GWN751K) magnesium alloy during the hot deformation process was discussed. The flow stress behavior of the magnesium alloy over the strain rate range of 0.002 to 2.000 s^-1 and in the temperature range of 623 to 773 K was studied on a Gleeble-1500D hot simulator under the maximum deformation degree of 60%.The experimental results showed that the relationship between stress and strain was obviously affected by strain rate and deformation temperature. The flow stress of GWN751K magnesium alloy during high temperature deformation could be represented by the Zener-Hollomon parameter in the hyperbolic Arrhenius-type equation. The stress exponent n and deformation activation energy Q were evaluated by linear regression analysis. The stress exponent n was fitted to be 3.16.The hot deformation activation energy of the alloy during hot deformation was 230.03 kJ/mol.The microstructures of hot deformation were also influenced by strain rate and compression temperature strongly. It was found that the alloy could be extruded at 723 K with the mechanical properties of σ0.2 = 260 MPa,σb = 320 MPa,and δ = 18%.
文摘The hot deformation behavior and microstructures of Al-7055 commercial alloy were investigated by axisymmetric hot compres- sion at temperatures ranging from 300℃ to 450℃ and strain rates from 10^-2 to 10 s^-1, respectively. Microstructures of deformed 7055 alloy were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The dependence of peak stress on deformation temperature and strain rate can be expressed by the hyperbolic-sine type equation. The hot deformation activation energy of the alloy is 146 kJ/mol. Moreover, the flow stress curves predicted by the modified constitutive equations are reasonably consistent with the experimental results, which confirms that the proposed deformation constitutive equations can provide evidence for the selection of hot forming parameters. TEM results indicate that dy- namic recovery is the main softening mechanism during hot deformation.
文摘The hot deformation behaviors and microstructures of A1-Zn-Mg-Cu-Cr aluminum alloy have been studied using thermal simulation test, optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. As a result, the true stress versus true strain curves and the microstructures under various deformation conditions are obtained. The microstructures gradually incline to dynamic-recrystallization with the deformation temperature rising and the recrystallization grains refine with the decrease of deformation temperature or with raising the strain rates. The quantitative relationship between the Zener-Hollomon parameter (Z) and average recrystallization grain size in the subsequent heat treatment is set up.

文摘Influence of hot deformation and subsequent austempering on the mechanical properties of hot rolled multiphase steel was investigated. Thermo-mechanical control processing (TMCP) was conducted by using a laboratory hot rolling mill, where three different kinds of finishing rolling reduction, and austemperings with various isothermal holding duration were applied. The results have shown that a multiphase microstructure consisting of polygonal ferrite, granular bainite and larger amount of stabilized retained austenite can be obtained by controlled rolling processes. Mechanical properties increase with increasing the amount of deformation because of the stabilization of retained austenite. Ultimate tensile strength (σb), total elongation (σ) and the product of ultimate tensile strength and total elongation (σb-σ) reach the maximum values (791 MPa, 36% and 28476 MPa%, respectively) at optimal processes.

文摘Hot deformation behavior and globularization mechanism of Ti6A14V0.1B alloy with lamellar micro structure were quantitatively studied through isothermal compression tests with the temperature range of 850950 ℃and strain rate range of 0.011.00 s1. The results show that the peak flow stress and steady stress are sensitive to the strain rate and temperature. The value of deformation activation energy is 890.49 kJmo11 in (a+β) region. Dynamic recrystallization is the major deformation mecha nism. Flow softening is dominated by dynamic recrystallization at 850950 ℃. TiB particles promote the recrystallization of laths. Globularization processes consist of four steps: for mation of subgrain after dynamic recovery in a plates; subgrain boundary migration caused by interracial instability; interfacial migration promoting phase wedge into a phase; disintegrating of a laths by diffusion processes; and grain boundary sliding. Globularization mechanisms during hot deformation processes of the Ti6A14V0.1B alloy with lamellar structure are continuous dynamic recrystallization.
