The method is based on the idea of the instrumental sensors method (ISM), two well-calibrated sensors are added into the original array. By applying the principle of estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques (ESPRIT), the direction-of-arrivals (DOAs) and uncertainties can be estimated simultaneously through eigen-decomposition. Compared with the conventional ones, this new method has less computational complexity while has higher estimation precision, what's more, it can overcome the problem of ambiguity. Both theoretical analysis and computer simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

The modeled coefficients, one of the successful and classical methods hitherto, were chosen to calibrate the EM38 measurements of the inverted salinity profiles of characteristic coastal saline soils at selected sites of Xincao Farm, Jiangsu Province, China. However, this method required three parameters for each depth layer. An integration approach, based on an exponential decay profile model, was proposed and the model was fitted to all the calibration sites. The obtained model can then be used to predict EC1:5 at a certain depth from electromagnetic measurements made using the EM38 device positioned in horizontal and vertical positions at the soil surface. This exponential decay model predicted the EC1:5 well according to the results of a one-way analysis of variance, and the further comparison indicated that the modeled coefficients appeared to be slightly superior to, but not statistically different from, this exponential decay model. Nevertheless, this exponential decay model was more significant and practical because it depended on less empirical parameters and could be used to perform point predictions of EC1:5 continuously with depth.展开更多

Methods were then compared for reported bulk elemental composition of the rocks. The MCS method was based on the sum of eight major elements, which is spatially more stable than one single major ele-ment as used in the IS method, and is quite constant among different rock samples. Calibrations were performed with standard reference materials NIST SRM 610, 612, 614, and 616. Little difference was found between using a single standard and a set of standards, because of the good linearity shown by the reference materials. Comparison of the two calibration methods shows that the MCS method produced better and more stable results than the IS method for heterogeneous samples. With the MCS method, approximately 94% to 95% of the total measurements are within the range of ±100% relative deviation, compared with 82% to 86% with the IS method. The IS method resulted insubstantial overestimations for some rock samples (e.g., 648% for Basalt BCR-2 using NIST SRM 610 as the calibration standard), while the largest deviation with the MCS method was 216% for U in Eagle Ford shale #80 sample. For Quartz latite QLO-1, a relative homogeneous sample, the IS method generated slightly better results than the MCS method. Regardless of method, spatially heterogeneous distribution of elements in the intact rock at the scale of the laser spot is considered to be the main reason for the large relative deviations seen in our work compared to published results.展开更多

This paper studies the calibration method of magnetometer based on BP neural network, which reduces the influence of model error on calibration accuracy. Firstly, the error model of the magnetometer and the structural characteristics of the BP neural network are analyzed. Secondly, the number of hidden layers and hidden nodes is optimized. To avoid the problem of slow convergence and low accuracy of basic BP algorithm, this paper uses the Levenberg Marquardt backpropagation training method to improve the training speed and prediction accuracy and realizes the on-orbit calibration of magnetometer through online training of the neural network. In contrast to the conventional inverse heat conduction techniques, this calibration approach does not require explicit input of the probe locations, thermophysical properties of the host material and temperature sensor parameters related to thermal contact resistance, sensor capacitance and conductive lead losses. All those parameters and properties are inherently contained in the calibration framework in terms of Volterra integral equation of the first kind. The Laplace transform technique is applied and the frequency domain manipulations of the heat equation are performed for deriving the calibration integral equation. Due to the ill-posed nature, regularization is required for the inverse heat conduction problem, a future-time method or singular value decomposition (SVD) can be used for stabilizing the ill-posed Volterra integral equation of the first kind.展开更多

The performance of this technique is demonstrated with a Monte Carlo simulation of an experimental case where biased calibration coefficients are employed. The real calibration coefficients are restored with less than 1% relative accuracy when a sufficient number of π~0 is detected. This technique is applied to monitor daily the calibration coefficients of the calorimeter used in the Jefferson Lab Hall A DVCS experiments.展开更多

This analysis is based on finite elements with elasticity, plasticity and dam- age mechanics models of rock behaviour and some least squares calibration techniques. The main aim is to examine the capability of continuous mechanics models to predict brittle damage behaviour of gran- ite rocks. The performed simulations use an in-house finite element software GEM and self-developed experimental continuum damage MATLAB code. The main contributions are twofold. First, it is an inverse analysis, which is used for (1) verification of an initial stress measurement by back analysis of conver- gence measurement during construction of the access tunnel and (2) identification of heat transfer rock mass properties by an inverse method based on the known heat sources and temperature measurements. Second, three different hierarchically built models are used to estimate the pillar damage zones, i.e. elas- tic model with Drucker-Prager strength criterion, elasto-plastic model with the same yield limit and a combination of elasto-plasticity with continuum damage mechanics. The damage mechanics model is also used to simulate uniaxial and triaxial compressive strength tests on the ,Aspo granite.展开更多

They could therefore be used to obtain neutron energy spectra in toknmak experiments.

文摘In this paper, a high accuracy finite volume element method is presented for two-point boundary value problem of second order ordinary differential equation, which differs from the high order generalized difference methods. It is proved that the method has optimal order error estimate O(h3) in H1 norm. Finally, two examples show that the method is effective.
文摘In order to reduce the fluctuation of LIBS detection spectrum of liquid sample, the full-spectrum sum method and the internal standardization method is adopted, using an equal-RSD normalization algorithm to calibrate the detection spectrum.Experiment result shows that the full-spectrum sum method reduced the RSD of parallel samples of Cd and Cr to 9.4% and 11.06% from 28.32% and 31.93% respectively, yielded better overall calibration than the singleelement internal standardization approach, thereby suggesting that the former method is convenient and effective for online calibration of LIBS for detection of aqueous heavy metals.
文摘This paper describes a method for energy calibration of laterally segmented electromagnetic calorimeters based on the detection of two-photon decays of π~0 mesons. The calibration procedure performs a X^2 function minimization between the measured π~0 energy in the calorimeter and its expected energy deduced from the π~0 momentum direction. The performance of this technique is demonstrated with a Monte Carlo simulation of an experimental case where biased calibration coefficients are employed. The real calibration coefficients are restored with less than 1% relative accuracy when a sufficient number of π~0 is detected. This technique is applied to monitor daily the calibration coefficients of the calorimeter used in the Jefferson Lab Hall A DVCS experiments.
文摘The differential evolution(DE)algorithm was deployed to calibrate microparameters of the DEM cohesive granular material.4 macroparameters, namely, uniaxial compressive strength, direct tensile strength,Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio, can be calibrated to high accuracy. The best calibration accuracy could reach the sum of relative errors RE_(sum)<0.1%.Most calibrations can be achieved with RE_(sum)<5%within hours or RE_(sum)<1%within 2 days.Based on the calibrated results, microparameters uniqueness analysis was carried out to reveal the correlation between microparameters and the macroscopic mechanical behaviour of material:(1)microparameters effective modulus, tensile strength and normal-to-shear stiffness ratio control the elastic behaviour and stable crack growth,(2)microparameters cohesion and friction angles present a negative linear correlation that controls the axial strain and lateral strain prior to the peak stress,and(3)microparameters friction coefficient controls shear crack friction and slip mainly refers to the unstable crack behaviour.Consideration of more macroparameters to regulate the material mechanical behaviour that is dominated by shear crack and slip motion is highlighted for future study. The DE calibration method is expected to serve as an alternative method to calibrate the DEM cohesive granular material to its peak strength.
文摘The device construction and working principle of Calvet type heat conductive microcalorimetry are generally introduced in this paper. Based on previous work, we design a reactor vessel and its electrical calibration equipment according to our special study systems. The heat constant of our improved microalorimetry is gotten by means of electrical calibration on the basis of Tian's equation. The results gotten by integration method are identical with ones gotten by peak method. It shows that our improved device works well enough to develop further studies.

文摘The paper describes an analysis of thermo-mechanical (TM) processes appearing during the Aspo Pillar Stability Experiment (APSE). The damage mechanics model is also used to simulate uniaxial and triaxial compressive strength tests on the ,Aspo granite.
