In the secondary network, two secondary users (SUs) communicate with each other via an assist relay. The main point is to provide the best system performance to SUs while maintaining the interference power at primary user (PU) under a certain level. Using convex optimization, a closed-form solution is obtained when optimizing the power allocation among the two nodes and relay. Based on this result, a joint power control and relay selection scheme with fewer variable dimensions is proposed to maximize the achievable rate of the secondary system. Simulation results demonstrate that the sum rate of the cognitive two-way relay network increases compared with a random relay selection and fixed power allocation.展开更多

A total of 146 adult scallops were randomly selected from the same cultured population ofA. i. concentricus, and divided into two groups in shell length (anterior-posterior measurement): large (4.91-6.02 cm, n=74) and small (3.31-4.18 cm, n=72). At the same time, a control group was also randomly sampled (4.21-4.88 cm, n=80). Mass-spawned F1 progenies from the three size groups were obtained and reared under identical conditions at all growth phases. The effects of two-way (or upward-downward) selection on fertilization rate, hatching rate, survival rate, daily growth in shell length and body weight were assessed in the three size groups. Results show that significant differences (P〈0.01) were found in hatching rate, survival rate and daily growth of F~ progenies, but not in fertilization rate (P〉0.05), among the three groups. The hatching rate, survival rate and daily growth of the progeny of large-sized parents were greater than those of the control group (P〈0.05), which in turn were larger than those of small-sized group (P〈0.05). Responses to selection by shell length and body weight were 0.32±0.04 cm and 2.18±0.05 g, respectively, for the upward selection, and -0.14±0.03 cm and -2.77±0.06 g, respectively, for the downward selection. The realized heritability estimates of shell length and body weight were 0.38±0.06 cm and 0.22±0.07 g for the upward selection, and 0.24±0.06 cm and 0.37±0.09 g for the downward selection, respectively. The change in growth by bidirectional selection suggests that high genetic variation may be present in the cultured bay scallop population in China.展开更多

First, to prolong network lifetime, a multi-relay selection strategy is proposed in which both channel state information (CSI) and remaining energy (RE) are considered. Next, a multi-relay power allocation algorithm based on convex optimization (MRPA-CO) is presented. To reduce the computational complexity, it can be divided into two steps: terminal nodes power allocation (TNPA) and relay nodes power allocation (RNPA). Simulation results indicate that the proposed relay selection strategy can significantly prolong network lifetime compared to other relay selection strategies which consider CSI only, and the MRPA-CO algorithm has great advantage over equal power allocation (EPA) on sum-rate in two-way relay network.展开更多

Traditionally, relay selection schemes are primarily focused on selecting one relay node to maximize the transmission sum rate or minimize the outage probability. If so, it is possible to cause certain relay nodes overloaded. In addition, the joint relay selection and power allocation problem is a mixed integer program problem and prohibitive in terms of complexity. Therefore, we propose a novel low complexity joint relay selection and power allocation algorithm with proportional fair scheduling to get the load-balancing among potential relays. Simulation results turn out that, compared with round-robin schemes and max sum rate schemes, the proposed algorithm can achieve the tradeoff between system transmission sum rate and load-balancing.展开更多

However, practical systems are seldom operating at full load, even at peak traffic hours. Instead of maximizing system rate to achieve the full load, an optimal energy-efficient scheme to minimize the transmit power with required rates is investigated in this article. The considered scenario is a two-way relay channel using amplify-and-forward protocol of physical layer network coding, where two end nodes exchange messages via multiple relay nodes within two timeslots. A joint power allocation and relay selection scheme is designed to achieve the minimum transmit power. Through convex optimization theory, we firstly prove that single relay selection scheme is the most energy-efficient way for physical layer network coding. The closed-form expressions of power allocation are also given. Numerical simulations demonstrate the performance of the designed scheme as well as the comparison among different schemes.展开更多
