It is found that silver sulfide could be effectively dissolved in the copper-thiosulfate system without ammonia. The effects of thiosulfate concentration, cop- per-to-thiosulfate ratio, agitation vigorousness, pH values, and dissolved gases on the leaching of silver sulfide with the copper-thiosulfate solution were studied. A maximum extraction of 95.1% was achieved with the 0.12 mol/L thiosulfate and the 0.048 rnol/L copper sulfate. It is shown that copper-to-thiosulfate ratio is an important factor in silver sulfide dissolution and oxygen is not needed to leach silver sulfide, which leads to the instability of the leaching system at high copper-to-thiosulfate ratio. On the other hand, the silver extraction is not affected by the pulp pH values.展开更多

It is shown that the terahertz absorption coefficients are correlated with the particle size of the samples, as well as the heating rates of the ambient temperature. Furthermore, the water molecules of copper sulfate pentahydrate can be quantitatively characterized due to the high sensitivity of the terahertz wave to water molecules. Based on such results, the status of water incorporated in mineral opal is also characterized using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. It indicates that terahertz technology can be considered as an efficient method to detect the dehydration of minerals.展开更多

Green copper arsenite was prepared after copper sulfate was added into the neutralized wastewater when the molar ratio of Cu to As was 2:1 and pH value of the neutralized wastewater was adjusted to 8.0 by sodium hydroxide. The arsenious acid solution and red residue were produced after copper arsenite mixed with water according to the ratio of liquid to solid of 4:1 and copper arsenite was reduced by SO2 at 60℃ for 1 h. The white powder was gained after the arsenious acid solution was evaporated and cooled. Copper sulfate solution was obtained after the red residue was leached by H2SO4 solution under the action of air. The results show that red residue is Cu3(SO3)2·2H2O and the white powder is As2O3. The leaching rate of Cu reaches 99.00% when the leaching time is 1.5 h, molar ratio of H2SO4 to Cu is 1.70, H2SO4 concentration is 24% and the leaching temperature is 80 ℃. The direct recovery rate of copper sulfate is 79.11% and the content of CuSOa·5H2O is up to 98.33% in the product after evaporating and cooling the copper sulfate solution.展开更多

Experimental conditions included pH of 2-4, temperature of 20-60℃ and contact time of 10-40 min. The investigation demonstrated that SP-C had recommendable efficiency in adsorbing Cu2+ from the electrolyte with 25- to 100-fold of Co2+ The optimal adsorption conditions of SP-C were pH of 4, contact time of 30 min and ambient temperature. The study also showed that the loaded resin could be effectively eluted with 2.0 mol/L H2SO4 solution at a contact time of 40 min; the peak concentration of Cu2+ in the eluate was about 35 g/L. The sorption characteristics of Cu2+ by SP-C could be described by Langrnuir isotherm and the pseudo second-order kinetic equation. Infrared spectra showed that nitrogen atoms in the functional group coordinated with Cu2+ to form coordination bands.展开更多

The synthesized photo catalyst has been characterized by employing various techniques like X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet-Visible Diffuse Reflection Spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (EDS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic Studies (FT-IR), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). From the XRD and TEM results, all the samples were reported in anatase phase with reduction in particle size in the range of 7 to 12 nm. SEM indicated the change in morphology of the particles. The presence of copper in titania lattice was evidenced by XPS. From UV-Vis DRS and FT-IR studies indicated that prominent absorption shift is observed towards visible region (red shift), the entry ofCu2 + into Ti02 lattice as a substitution- al dopant and S042- ions were covalently bonded with Ti4+ on the surface of the copper doped titania respectively. The photocatalytic activity studies were investigated by considering methyl orange (MO) as dye pollutant in the presence of the visible light. The effect of various parameters like effect of dosage of the catalyst, dopant concentration, pH of the solution, and concentration of the dye was studied in detail.展开更多

These zones are different by the degree of pollution in order to study the effect of this pollution on the copper corrosion, especially the microbial pollution by sulfate reducing-bacteria (SRB). So, to prove this relationship, the microbiological analyses researching the SRB are realized. In parallel, the electrochemical impedance measurement and atomic absorption analysis are established to compare the microbiological evolution cycles with the electrochemical behavior of copper during the immersion period. In the results, we found a good correlation between the growth cycle of marine sulfate-reducing bacteria and the copper corrosion rate by the sulfur and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) produced as bacteria metabolites. Additionally, this corrosion rate depends on the immersed time: it is maximal after the first or second month depending on the marine zone.展开更多
