The valence band and conduction band offsets are obtained to be 0.09±0.12 and 1.19±0.12 eV, respectively. These results are in agreement with theoretically predicted ones. The accurate determination of the valence band and conduction band offsets is useful for the fundamental understanding of the mid-infrared light emission from the PbTe/CdTe heterostructures and its application in devices.展开更多

It presents a therapeutic challenge to many dermatologists. Photochemotherapy using psoralen and ultraviolet A(UVA) therapy, topical and oral immunosuppresants, as well as cosmetic camouflage are also commonly employed with varying clinical efficacy. Phototherapy is a popular treatment option, which includes both of the generalized ultraviolet B(UVB) therapies, broadband UVB and narrowband UVB(NB-UVB). It has been used favorably, both alone as well as in combination with other agents like topical calcineurin inhibitors, vitamin-D analogs. Combination therapies are useful and may provide quicker regimentation and treat vitiligo with an additive mechanism of action than UVB phototherapy. Advances in technology may lead to the continuing use of UVB phototherapy as a treatment for vitiligo through the development of sophisticated devices and delivery systems as well as innovative application methods. These will provide increased therapeutic options for all vitiligo patients, particularly those with refractory disease. In this article, I have reviewed the available data pertaining to efficacy and safety issues for NB-UVB as monotherapy, its comparison with psoralen plus UVA and other modes of phototherapy, combination regimens that have been tried and future prospects of NB-UVB in vitiligo.展开更多

Because of the advantages of having no at- mospheric disturbances and the slow rotation of the Moon, we can make long-term continuous observations of a series of important celestial objects in the near ultra- violet band (245-340 nm), and perform a sky survey of selected areas, which can- not be completed on Earth. We can find characteristic changes in celestial brightness with time by analyzing image data from the MUVT, and deduce the radiation mech- anism and physical properties of these celestial objects after comparing with a phys- ical model. In order to explain the scientific purposes of MUVT, this article analyzes the preprocessing of MUVT image data and makes a preliminary evaluation of data quality. The results demonstrate that the methods used for data collection and prepro- cessing are effective, and the Level 2A and 2B image data satisfy the requirements of follow-up scientific researches.展开更多

The response to the pruritus was assessed both weekly and at the end of the study period using a visual analogue score(VAS).RESULTS The average VAS score at the end of the study was 3.14 ± 1.59, which was significant compared to the baseline value of 7.75 ± 1.02(P < 0.05). Improvements in symptoms were noted in 19 out of 21(90.4%) patients. However, relapse occurred in six out of the 19 patients who responded. The dropout rate was high during the study period(33.3%).CONCLUSION Narrow band UVB is effective as an add-on therapy in peritoneal dialysis patients with refractory uremic pruritus. However, the present regime is cumbersome and patient compliance is poor.展开更多
