Special Issue in Celebration of the 120^th Anniversary of Southwest Jiaotong University

As one of the oldest universities of modern China, Southwest Jiaotong University has experienced its grand journey transcending 3 centuries, witnessing 18 relocations. Known as ＂the Cornell of the East＂ and the birthplace of China＇s modern education in transportation, mining and metallurgy and civil engineering, the university is now on the list of China＇s ＂211 Project＂, ＂985 Project Innovation Platform＂ and ＂2011 Plan＂. As the front-runner of rail transportation, Southwest Jiaotong University is now playing its active role in facilitating the globalization of China＇s high-speed railway.

61st Anniversary of Adoption of Universal Declaration of Human Rights Marked in Beijing

On Dec. 10, 2009, the International Human Rights Day, Scholars and students inBeijing gathered to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in China University of Political Science and Law. The Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Institute of China University of Political Science and Law, the Law School of Renmin University of China, and the LawSchool of Tsinghua University jointly sponsored the commemorations. The commemoration consisted of four parts including ＂the 61 st Anniversary of the Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Photo Exhibition＂, ＂Remembrance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights＂, and relative academic seminars.

Tsinghua University Celebrating 98th Anniversary

Tsinghua University celebrated its 98th anniversary on April 26, 2009, bringing together alumni from around the country and all over the world for a weekend of reunions. The celebration was highlighted by exhibitions, academic forums, and celebrations organized by different departments. A series of student activities, including concerts, a track and field competition, a speech contest, and a technology innovation exhibition, were also held to honor the returning alumni.
