The research is exploratory and conclusive de...The objective of this research is to analyze social responsibility from the stakeholder’s perspective to establish whether universities have advanced in their conception. The research is exploratory and conclusive descriptive of the cross-sectional sample. The internal and external stakeholders of the public universities domiciled in Quito were taken into account. The results showed that university managers relate this concept with actions of connection with community, the relevance of the academic offer and the accountability, while students relate this concept with teaching in values and philanthropic activities. For administrative personnel instead, university social responsibility (USR) is related to work benefits. On the other hand, the business sector relates this concept with the answer to their needs of innovation. As expected, representatives of government agencies highlight the university’s responses that are necessary to become the engine of economic, productive and social transformation of the country. It is concluded that USR is applied in a partial way, which translates into management models that do not incorporate it as an explicit variable of their actions.展开更多
At the end of the keynotes during the second Global Forum of Development of Computer Science,a panel discussion was held to encourage further discussion on ways for universities to adapt to the rapidly changing comput...At the end of the keynotes during the second Global Forum of Development of Computer Science,a panel discussion was held to encourage further discussion on ways for universities to adapt to the rapidly changing computer science field.Five deans of top computer science departments participated,including the moderator.The discussions were guided along three topics,namely the role of computer science departments in universities today,the nature of computer science as a fundamental discipline or an applied one,and computer science education.Out of these topics,the panelists mainly focused on the interdisciplinary nature of computer science in teaching,research,and industry.The panelists agreed about ways to prepare for the interdisciplinary future,for example by establishing new research centers,introducing projectbased curricula,and collaborating with industry while keeping the campus vibrant.They also pointed out that universities may be under equipped for preparing future professionals to keep up with rapid new advances,especially in machine learning and artificial intelligence.展开更多

With an aim to promote the digital value-added design of local tourism, the study adopted Skilbeck's situational model to examine the promotion of local tourism through a digital value-added approach and integrated t...With an aim to promote the digital value-added design of local tourism, the study adopted Skilbeck's situational model to examine the promotion of local tourism through a digital value-added approach and integrated the design of APP: Tour Guide for Jiaoxi Hot Spring into the Study of Technology and Applications of Mobile Services and Augmented Reality for Cultural and Creative Industry and Tourism in Yilan. Through the development and demonstration of design, students are allowed to build and enhance their capacity for integration in addition to fulfilling university social responsibility (USR). The study found that students used different methods in each phase to continuously absorb knowledge and discover problems and then propose creative solutions based on facts. By creating a mental map, students pondered promoting local tourism via digital value-added design and came up with a strategy of hot spring + primary industry (agriculture + aquaculture) tours, which integrated local gourmet, hot springs, religion, and the hot spring museum. Three routes are designed, namely Route 1: Hot Spring Park + Aquaculture, Route 2: Tangweigou Hot Spring Park, and Route 3: Jiaoxi Old Street to make up the gap in the unilateral marketing of Jiaoxi Hot Spring. The study will further promote location-based services of the APP to fulfill the technology and applications of mobile services and augmented reality for local tourism.展开更多
