The finite difference method (FDM) is applied in the present paper to solve the unsteady NHS equations for incompressible fluids. ADI and SLOR methods are served for the vorticity equation and the Poisson equation for ψ respectively. The upwind scheme is used for the convective terms. The moving boundary conditions are specially treated, and the effects of outlet conditions on the flow field are abo examined. Numerical results obtained show that the spoiler's oscillation induces forming, growing and shedding of the vortices. The shedding frequency of vortices is equal to that of the spoiler's oscillation. The forced unsteady separated flows under the present investigation depend mainly on the reduced frequency. At low reduced frequency, the vortices shed from the spoiler interact weakly with each other, and move downstream at an almost uniform speed of 038 V∞. At high reduced frequency, the interaction between the adjacent vortices strengthens. They close up to and rotate around each other, and eventually, merge into one vortex. 展开更多

Through transformations, the time-dependent boundary condition on the airfoil contour and the boundary condition at infinity are brought fixed to the boundaries of a finite domain. The boundary conditions can thus be satisfied exactly without increasing the computational time. The novel scheme is useful for computing transonic, strong disturbance, unsteady flows with high reduced frequencies. The scheme makes use of curvefitted orthogonal meshes and the lattice control technique to obtain the optimal grid distribution. The numerical results are satisfactory. 展开更多

Numerical investigation of the unsteady flow variability driven by rotorstator interaction in a transonic axial compressor is performed. Two models with close and far axial gap between rotor and stator rows are studied in the simulation. Particular attention is attached to the analysis of mechanisms involved in driving rotor wake oscillation, rotor wake skewing and flow angle fluctuation at rotor exit. The results show that smaller axial gap is favorable to enhance the interaction in the region between two adjacent rows, and the fluctuation of the static pressure difference between two sides of rotor wake is improved by potential field from down stator, which is the driving force for rotor wake oscillation. The interaction between rotor and stator is weakened by increasing axial distance, rotor wake shifts to suction side of rotor blade with 5%-10% of rotor pitch, the absolute value of flow angle at rotor exit is less than that in the case of close interspace for every time step, and the fluctuation amplitude is also decreased. 展开更多

Supersonic cavity flows are characterized by compression and expansion waves, shear layer, and oscillations inside the cavity. For decades, investigations into cavity flows have been conducted, mostly with flows at zero pressure gradient entering the cavity in straight walls. Since cavity flows on curved walls exert centrifugal force, the features of these flows are likely to differ from those of straight wall flows. The aim of the present work is to study the flow physics of a cavity that is cut out on a curved wall. Steady and unsteady numerical simulations were carried out for supersonic flow through curved channels over the cavity with L/H = 1. A straight channel flow was also analyzed which serves as the base model. The velocity gradient along the width of the channel was observed to increase with increasing the channel curvature for both concave and convex channels. The pressure on the cavity floor increases with the increase in channel curvature for concave channels and decreases for convex channels. Moreover, unsteady flow characteristics are more dependent on channel curvature under supersonic free stream conditions. 展开更多
