Background: Contributing factors in the prevalence of Parkinson’s disease (PD) based on race may improve health disparities in the United States. According to the largest study analyzing prevalence and incidence of PD among Medicare beneficiaries, the ratio of African-Americans (AA) to Caucasians in the general Medicare population is 9%, while the prevalence ratio of PD among AA compared to Caucasians is approximately 5%. Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of African-American patients with PD in the movement disorders database at Boston Medical Center, which is the largest safety net hospital in New England. The demographics of the patients seen in the general neurology clinic are 30.57% AA and 38.06% non-Hispanic Caucasian. Results: The Movement disorders database included 488 patients, 327 of whom had PD. Of these, 287 were Caucasians and 18 were of African descent. Based on our clinic population the expected PD case ratio among AA compared to Caucasians was approximately 49%. The actual race ratio in patients of African descent compared to Caucasian was 6%, which was substantially lower than expected at Boston Medical Center. Conclusion: The demographics of the PD patients in our movement disorders clinic do not reflect the population at Boston Medical Center, or the demographics of our neurology clinic as a whole.展开更多

This situation makes it a very attractive region and subject to strong land pressure. The objective of this article is to study past and current urban dynamics as well as changes in natural spaces, in order to identify new urban centers. The methodological approach consists in analyzing satellite images to understand the evolution of different forms of spatial occupation in the Dakar region, and to study population movement flows and urban forms in order to reveal new urban centers. The results of the study show that the Dakar urban space is characterized by diverse forms which express a heterogeneous set of spaces. They also revealed the emergence of new clusters between 1986 and 2016, notably Ngor, Grand Yoff, Parcelles Assainies in the North-West, and Keur Massar and the North of the communes of Rufisque in the eastern part of the Dakar region.展开更多

Here a new additional term is introduced into a traditional car-following model. Our aim is to analyze and discuss the dynamic characteristics of the train movement when the regenerative energy is utilized by the electric locomotive. The simulation results indicate that the improved car-following model is suitable for simulating the train movement. Further, some qualitative relationships between regenerative energy and dynamic characteristics of a train are investigated, such as the measurement data of regenerative energy presents a power-law distribution. Our results are useful for optimizing the design and plan of urban railway systems.展开更多

Now,it plans to launch a strategic research of new round of development in 2050,carry out future urban planning research in 2040,and started start the implementation of thirteenth five-year development planning research. In this process,it is required to fully consider the impact of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform, include the construction of global innovation center into the layout of the future development of Shanghai, formulate global scientific and technological innovation center development strategy, and further make clear the leading and support function of scientific and technological innovation to economic and social development of Shanghai. This paper analyzed the relationship between Big Cloud Movement and " Maker",and the necessities for cultivating " Maker" urban culture to building Shanghai global scientific and technological innovation center. On this basis,it elaborated and analyzed how to integrate the Maker Culture into Shanghai urban culture. Finally,it came up with recommendations for establishing Shanghai " Maker" urban culture.展开更多

A review of models developed to simulate this segment of mobility is also reported. The review analysis highlights the limits of models for the ex-ante assessment of city logistics measures. For this reason this paper proposes a new modeling system approach for the assessment of city logistics measures. It is made of different steps approaching problems related to quantity OD (Origin-Destination) flows, restocking type OD flows, delivery OD flows, delivery OD flows for time slice and vehicle type, and vehicle OD flows. This modeling system has been specified and calibrated using some surveys carried out in the inner area of Rome where more than 500 truck drivers and more than 600 retailers have been interviewed.展开更多
