The Best Value Approach(BVA)is a new project delivery method that has been developed at Arizona State University.It has been documented to increase performance and value on projects by the identification and utilizati...The Best Value Approach(BVA)is a new project delivery method that has been developed at Arizona State University.It has been documented to increase performance and value on projects by the identification and utilization of expertise instead of management,direction,and control(MDC).It utilizes perfomance information that is simple,observable,and countable.It allows the expert vendor to know what the client proj-ect requires,why they can achieve success and what they will do before they do it.The tracking of the project cost and time deviation requires an initial plan and method to tack it.Preliminary results of the BVA have shown a 90%decrease in effort by client organizations,98%customed satisfaction and has led to 1%vendor cost and time deviation rate.It ap-plies to construction,services/TT projects,and any long-term service.In 2014,a large private organization having dificulty delivering information technology(T)and construction/facility services identified the BVA as a potential solution.This paper will summarize a major IT Enterprise Resource Planming case study that the large private organization used the BVA on and identify the full results.展开更多
The present paper is concerned with the investigation of disturbances in'a homogeneous, isotropic elastic medium with generalized thermoelastic diffusion, when a moving source is acting along one of the co-ordinate a...The present paper is concerned with the investigation of disturbances in'a homogeneous, isotropic elastic medium with generalized thermoelastic diffusion, when a moving source is acting along one of the co-ordinate axis on the boundary of the medium. Eigen value approach is applied to study the disturbance in Laplace-Fourier transform domain for a two dimensional problem. The analytical expressions for displacement components, stresses, temperature field, concentration and chemical potential are obtained in the physical domain by using a numerical technique for the inversion of Laplace transform based on Fourier expansion techniques. These expressions are calculated numerically for a copper like material and depicted graphically. As special cases, the results in generalized thermoelastic and elastic media are obtained. Effect of presence of diffusion is analyzed theoretically and numerically.展开更多

Synthesis of polyols from carbon dioxide(CO2) is attractive from the viewpoint of sustainable development of polyurethane industry;it is also interesting to adjust the structure of the CO2-polyols for versatile requ...Synthesis of polyols from carbon dioxide(CO2) is attractive from the viewpoint of sustainable development of polyurethane industry;it is also interesting to adjust the structure of the CO2-polyols for versatile requirement of polyurethane.However,when renewable malonic acid was used as a starter,the copolymerization reaction of CO2 and propylene oxide(PO) was uncontrollable,since it proceeded slowly(13 h) and produced 40.4 wt%of byproduct propylene carbonate(PC) with a low productivity of 0.34kg/g.A careful analysis disclosed that the acid value of the copolymerization medium was the key factor for controlling the copolymerization reaction.Therefore,a preactivation approach was developed to dramatically reduce the acid value to 0.6mg(KOH)/gby homopolymerization of PO into oligo-ether-diol under the initiation of malonic acid,which ensured the controllable copolymerization,where the copolymerization time could be shortened by 77%from 13 to 3 h,the PC content was reduced by 76%from 40.4 wt%to 9.4 wt%,and the productivity increased by 61%from 0.34 to 0.55 kg/g.Moreover,by means of preactivation approach,the molecular weight as well as the carbonate unit content in the CO2-diol was also controllable.展开更多
