Then a criterion that thedesign of splitting vanes of centrifugal compound impeller should ensure that the back flow arearatio be the minimum is proposed. On the basis of the criterion, the slippery theory is used as oneof CFD methods to analyze the inner flow field of the impeller of various kinds of splitting vanesdesign, therefore, the optimized design of splitting vanes is obtained and which agrees with that ofsome testing results.展开更多
A new hydraulic design method of three-dimensional guide vane for centrifugal pump is proposed on the assumption that the fluid at the outlet of guide vane satisfies the uniform velocity moment condition.The geometry ...A new hydraulic design method of three-dimensional guide vane for centrifugal pump is proposed on the assumption that the fluid at the outlet of guide vane satisfies the uniform velocity moment condition.The geometry of blade is controlled by the distributed rule of blade angles along the meridional streamline which is described by a fourth-order polynomial.Experiment results demonstrate that the designed guide vane can overcome the drawback of two-dimensional guide vane,enlarge the high efficiency scope and improve the hydraulic performance of centrifugal pump on the off-design operation conditions.In comparison with the performance of the centrifugal pump without inlet guide vane,the peak value of efficiency can be enhanced by 2.13% after the three-dimensional guide vane was being installed.The three-dimensional entire flow field of the centrifugal pump with inlet guide vane is simulated,and the basic principle and mechanism of inlet guide vane pre-whirl regulation are analyzed.The validity of design method has been proved.展开更多

A Bezier curve representation for profile description was coupled with ablade-to-blade flow calculation and a real-coded genetic algorithm. A low solidity vaned diffuser of0.89 in solidity was obtained through the present optimum design. Numerical analysis andexperimental test were made to evaluate the hydrodynamic performance of the centrifugal pump withthe designed low solidity vaned diffuser and original vaned diffuser. The obtained resultsdemonstrate that the centrifugal pump with the optimized vaned diffuser has compact size comparedwith the original one while the performance requirements have been met.展开更多
The valuation of the hydraulic performance of a centrifugal pump with pre-whirl regulation of the inlet guide vanes was studied experimentally by varying the pre-whirl angle from -60° to 60° with distances b...The valuation of the hydraulic performance of a centrifugal pump with pre-whirl regulation of the inlet guide vanes was studied experimentally by varying the pre-whirl angle from -60° to 60° with distances between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet of 280 mm, 380 mm and 460 mm. The efficiency-flow curves and the characteristic curves were obtained for the pump for various operation conditions. The experiment results demonstrated that the pre-whirl regulation widened the high efficiency zone and improved the hydraulic performance for off-design conditions with the proper pre-whirl angle. The axial distance between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet influenced the pre-whirl regulation effect of the inlet guide vanes with the best pre-whirl regulation effect obtained for an axial distance of 380 mm. These results showed that an appropriate axial distance between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet can improve the fluid flow at the impeller entrance with pre-whirl regulation for centrifugal pumps.展开更多
