In the boundary conditions, the nonlinear temperature jump and the velocity slip are considered. Semi-similarity equations are obtained and solved by bvp4c with MATLAB. The problem can be considered as an extension of the previous work done by Mahmoud(Mahmoud, M. A. A. Slip velocity effect on a non-Newtonian power-law fluid over a moving permeable surface with heat generation. Mathematical and Computer Modelling, 54, 1228–1237(2011)). Efforts are made to discuss the effects of the power-law number, slip velocity, and temperature jump on the dimensionless velocity and temperature distribution.展开更多

The dynamics of a series of important physiological components derived from the leaves were studied. It was indicated that all the above mentioned physiological indexes varied with different concentrations of 6-BA and temperature. The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation values for different concentrations of 6-BA at the recovery temperature 25℃ were 0.33, 0.28, 0.92 and 0.33, respectively for C. mitis, and 0.20, 0.49, 0.56 and 0.63, respectively for C. obtusa. It was concluded that leaves sprayed with different concentrations of 6-BA could affect the cold tolerance of palm seedlings. The optimal concentration of 6-BA was different for different palm species.展开更多

Coating material satisfies power law fluid model. Exact solutions for the velocity field, volume flow rate and average velocity are obtained. Moreover, the heat transfer results are presented for different cases of linearly varying on the boundaries. The variations of velocity, volume flow rate, radius of coated wire, shear rate and the force on the total wire are presented graphically and discussed.展开更多

Despite the many methods developed to handle this problem, modelling processes with fixed and random periodicity still remains a major challenge. Such methods include Artificial Neural networks (ANN), Fuzzy Inference system (FIS), GARCH models and their hybrids. This study seeks to extend literature of hybrid ANN-Time Varying GARCH model through simulations and application in modelling weather derivatives. The study models daily temperature of Kenya using ANN-Time Varying GARCH (1, 1), Time Lagged Feedforward neural network (TLNN) and periodic GARCH family models. Mean square error (MSE) and coefficient of determination R2 were used to determine performance of the models under study. Results obtained show that the ANN-Time Varying GARCH model gives the best results.展开更多

We consider two types of beam power time schedules. In the controlled temperature exposure, the skin surface temperature is increased quickly to a prescribed level using a high beam power;then the surface temperature is maintained at the prescribed level by adjusting the beam power adaptively. In the constant power exposure, the applied beam power is relatively low and stays unchanged over the time. We start both types of exposures at the same time and compare their internal temperatures of skin when they have the same surface temperature. In a non-dimensionalized formulation, we show that at the moment when both exposure types reach the same prescribed surface temperature level, the controlled temperature exposure has a higher internal temperature at all depths. This conclusion is mathematically rigorous and is independent of skin material properties.展开更多

Re-sults show that the temperature variance significantly de-creases during the high AO years, and increases in low AO cases. A key factor connecting them is the Siberian High, particularly the high-frequency fluctuations of the High. Within the seasonal time scale, the frequency of low-temperature extremes (daily temperature anomaly below 2σ,σ is the standard deviation of daily temperature for a given winter and a given station) displays an odd relation to the variance: a larger (smaller) variance is found to be asso-ciated with smaller (greater) frequency o low-temperature events. That is due to the non-normal distribution of the temperatures, and also influenced by the hhases of AO. Dur-ing the last 50 years or so, AO experiences a significant increasing trend, meanwhile the variance of daily sea level pressure (SLP) in the central region of Siberian High has decreased at a rate of 10.7%/10 a. These result in a signifi-cant weakening of the daily temperature variance in China with a trend of 4.1%/10 a, and a significant increaswe in the intra-seasonal low-temperature extremes at a rate of 0.16d/10 a.展开更多
