They are mostly based on constitutive equations governed by the Mohr-Coulomb and Hoek-Brown yield criteria. However, the solutions based on these criteria neglect the intermediate principal stress confining effect on the ground reaction estimation. Therefore, in this paper, a Drucker-Prager yield criterion governed solution integrated with the Lode angle parameter is employed. It considers the intermediate principal stress influence and the critical effect of the parameter on failure characterization.Subsequently, it is verified with results attained from numerical simulations which consider an elasticperfectly plastic constitutive law with a non-associative flow rule within FLAC3D. It was drawn from the results that the ground reaction and plastic evolution are influenced by the confining stress.Furthermore, considering a suitable yield criterion leads to realistic convergence and plastic evolution estimation. The circumscribed DP criterion governed solution with Lode angle parameter value(0.8) is considered appropriate for the realistic ground reaction estimation in the three-dimensional(3D) stress state rock mass. It estimates approximately 3.4% of tunnel convergence as compared to the classic solutions(5%) and plastic radius estimated to be approximately 2.45 m compared to 2.84 m.展开更多

In this paper, drilling parameters provide a new basis for determining the constant mi. An analytical relationship between the drilling parameters and constant miis established in consideration of the contact response between the drilling bit and the cut rock in the crushed zone.New models are developed to predict the triaxial compressive strength(TCS), internal friction angle φand cohesion c of rock. Drilling tests are carried out on 6 rock types to study the correlation between φ and m_(i). A comparison between the predicted values of rock mechanical properties and the measured values from the laboratory is performed to verify the accuracy of the proposed model(yielding an error less than 10%). The TCSs and constant m_(i) values of fifteen rocks are cited to validate the accuracy of the proposed model. The result shows that the proposed model predicts the TCS and constant m_(i) within a maximum error of 20%. The method can be conveniently applied to the rock mechanical properties.展开更多

Two assumptions were employed during the derivation: 1) principal strains by M-C model and D-P model are equal, and 2) the material is under plane strain condition. Based on the analysis of the surface on rt plane, it is found that the proposed D-P type criterion is better than the D-P criterion with M-C circumscribed circle or M-C inscribed circle, and is applicable for stress Lode angle less than zero. By comparing the predicted results with the test data of sand under plane strain condition and other D-P criteria, the proposed criterion is verified and agrees well with the test data, which is further proved to be better than other D--P type criteria in certain range of Lode angle. The criterion was compiled into a finite difference package FLAC3D by user-subroutine, and was used to analyze the stability of a slope by strength reduction method. The predicted slope safety factor from the proposed criterion agrees well with that by Spencer method, and it is more accurate than that from classic D-P criteria.展开更多

However, it fails to explain large strain deformation that widely occurs in nature. There is presently a new theory, the MEMC, which is mathematically expressed as Meff = ((σ1-σ3) L.sin 2α sin α)/2, where σ1-σ3 represents the yield strength of the related rock, L is a unit length and a is the angle between σ1 and deformation bands. This criterion demonstrates that the maximum value appears at angles of ±54.7° to σ1 and there is a slight difference in the moment in the range of 55°±10°. The range covers the whole observations available from nature and experiments. Its major implications include: (1) it can be used to determine the stress state when the related deformation features formed; (2) it provides a new approach to determine the Wk of the related ductile shear zone if only the ratio of the vorticity and strain rate remains fixed; (3) It can be used to explain (a) the obtuse angle in the contraction direction of conjugate kink-bands and extensional crenulation cleavages, (b) formation of low-angle normal faults and high-angle reverse faults, (c) lozenge ductile shear zones in basement terranes, (d) some crocodile structures in seismic profiles and (e) detachment folds in foreland basins.展开更多
