Urea, which was used as the nitrogen source, was carbonized with sucrose. A 3.6 wt% nitrogen doping of the carbon framework was achieved, with more than 70%of the nitrogen incorporated as quaternary nitrogen species. Only 0.2 wt% nitrogen doping, with only 32.7% quaternary nitrogen incorporation was obtained in an N‐OMC catalyst (N‐OMC‐T) prepared using a two‐step post‐synthesis method. The acetylene hy‐drochlorination activities of N‐OMC catalysts prepared via the one‐step method were higher than that of the N‐OMC‐T catalyst because of the higher nitrogen loadings.展开更多

Therefore, it is vital to explore alternative catalysts without mercury. We report here that N-doped carbon can catalyze directly transformation of acetylene to vinyl chloride. Particularly, N-doped high surface area mesoporous carbon exhibits a rather high activity with the acetylene conversion reaching 77% and vinyl chloride selectivity above 98% at a space velocity of 1.0 mL.min-l.g-1 and 200 ~C. It delivers a stable performa℃nce within a test period of 100h and no obvious deactivation is observed, demonstrating potentials to substitute the notoriously toxic mercuric chloride catalyst.展开更多

The activated carbon was modified by nitric acid, vitriol and peroxyacetic acid (PAA). The effect on specific area, structure, pH and surface acidity groups of carders by modification was discussed. Amount of carbonyl and carboxyl groups in activated carbon was increased by peroxyacetic acid treatment. The productivity of the new catalyst was 14.58% higher than that of catalyst prepared using untreated activated carbon. The relationship between amount of carbonyl and carboxyl groups (m) and catalyst productivity (P) was P = 1.83 + 2.26 × 10^-3*e^3.17m. Reaction mechanism was proposed. C 2009 Liang Rong Feng. Study of organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) in PM2.5 may lead to better understanding of secondary organic carbon (SOC) formation. This year-long (December 2008 to December 2009) field study was conducted in an animal agriculture intensive area in North Carolina of United States. Samples of PM2.5 were collected from five stations located in an egg production facility and its vicinities. Concentrations of OC/EC and thermograms were obtained using a thermal-optical carbon analyzer. Average levels of OC in the egg production house and at ambient stations were 42.7 μg/m3 and 3.26 - 3.47 μg/m3, respectively. Average levels of EC in the house and at ambient stations were 1.14 μg/m3 and 0.36 - 0.42 μg/m3, respectively. The OC to total carbon (TC) ratios at ambient stations exceeded 0.67, indicating a significant fraction of SOC presented in PM2.5. Principal factor analysis results suggested that possible major source of in-house PM2.5 was from poultry feed and possible major sources of ambient PM2.5 was from contributions of secondary inorganic and organic PM. Using the OC/EC primary ratio analysis method, ambient stations SOC fractions ranged from 68% to 87%. These findings suggested that SOC could appreciably contribute to total PM2.5 mass concentrations in this agriculture intensive area.展开更多

The solution of this problem is modification of the AC by hydrogen peroxide (H202) oxidation of the surface and treatment of AC with acetic acid as well as special methods of salt deposition and catalyst drying. The investigations of these ways of AC surface modification (treatment of AC with acetic acid and H2O2) have demonstrated the obtained AC to have both an increased adsorption capacity as to Zn(OAc)2 and optimum volumes of meso- and micro-pores as well as high catalyst activity in vinyl acetate (VA) synthesis. The characteristics of supports and catalysts were found out by benzene, water and acetic acid vapors adsorption. The distribution of the salt on the AC surface was studied by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray micro-analysis (XMA). The catalysts were tested in vinyl acetate synthesis in flow-bed isothermal reactor by cyclic method at 175, 205 and 230℃.展开更多

In this study, the CNT yarn with the strength of 90 MPa and the strain sensing gage factor of 1.75 was selected and embedded into the ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) elastomer as a sensing material.By measuring the electric resistance changing under the stretching, bending, longitudinally and transversely compressing of the CNT embedded EVA, the resistance changing curves and their linear correlations were obtained and analyzed. The result shows that the gage factor under the tensile test is the highest( 2.51),which is higher than the original value of CNT yarn (1.75). The gage factors of the CNT yarn embedded into EVA elastomer under bending and longitudinal and transverse compression are 2.29,1.55 and 0.79,respectively.展开更多
