Visualization of Landscape Changes in a 3D Environment Using the Storytelling Approach—The Example of the City of Pristina

This study proposes a detailed concept of how landscape changes can be transferred and communicated in a 3D environment using the storytelling approach. In 2018, Mocnik and Fairbairn argued that maps are good for representing a geographic space but texts have a better benefit than maps for telling a story [1]. A framework is presented on how a landscape change can be retrieved out of textual descriptions. A prototype of a 3D model with a projection on top of it was developed. The case study tells the story of the landscape change in the city of Pristina. The key element of the visualization is a timeline. Several media like cadastral maps, orthophotos, texts, graphics, and background sound are used and combined in an animated light show and the visualization was evaluated within a user study.

Geographical Information Visualization on a Panoramic Sphere in an Immersive Environment

In this paper,we propose a novel approach to visualizing global geographical information:a panoramic sphere in an immersive environment.The whole geographical surface can be observed through the rotating of heads as the viewpoint of the panoramic sphere is inside the sphere.We compared three approaches to visualizing the earth for rendering the geographical information in a virtual reality environment.On the tasks of terrestrial and marine geographical information,we compare the visualization effects on a)a globe,b)a flat map and c)a panoramic sphere.Terrestrial geographical information tasks include the area comparison and direction determination.Marine geographical information tasks contain the visualization of sea surface temperature and sea surface currents.For terrestrial geographical information tasks,the experimental results show that the panoramic sphere outperforms the globe and the flat map,with a higher average accuracy and a shorter time.On marine geographical information task,the panoramic sphere visualization is also superior to the flat map and the globe in an immersive environment for the sea surface temperature data and the sea surface current fields.In all three visualization experiments,the panoramic sphere is most preferred by the participants,particularly for global,transcontinental and transoceanic needs.

Application of Landscape Engineering based on BIM Visualization Technology

The rapid advancement of building information modeling(BIM)technology has garnered significant interest regarding its application within the domain of landscape engineering.BIM technology,as a construction and management tool that integrates digitization and visualization,has demonstrated considerable advantages in enhancing project quality,reducing costs,and improving collaborative efficiency.This study aims to systematically investigate the application and developmental trends of BIM visualization technology within the field of landscape engineering.Through an analysis of technological advancements and industry dynamics over the past decade,it has been observed that BIM visualization technology is intricately linked with green building practices,sustainable construction methods,and the development of smart cities within the context of landscape engineering projects.The technology also possesses significant potential for application in the planning and design of landscape engineering,construction management,and project maintenance.The convenience of visualization enhances the expressive capacity of the design scheme,improves communication efficiency between the involved parties,and mitigates the costs and time inefficiencies associated with design modifications.By drawing on the successful experiences of other industries and integrating them with the unique characteristics of landscape engineering,BIM visualization technology is poised to assume a more significant role within this field.This integration is expected to advance the entire industry towards greater intelligence and informatization,while simultaneously enhancing the efficiency and quality of design,construction,and maintenance processes.

Impact of Outdoor Activities in Different Landscape Environments on the Physical and Mental Health of College Students

To investigate whether outdoor activities have an improvement effect on the emotions of young people and the differences in the impact of outdoor activities on the emotions of young people under different landscape environmental conditions,the participating students are asked to engage in outdoor activities in different landscape environments and divided into four groups.Each group is assigned to engage in outdoor activities in four types of landscape areas:open lawn area,low shrub area,dense forest area,and waterfront area.The activities include outdoor yoga and making leaf mandalas.The results show that outdoor yoga has the best effect on reducing pulse and blood pressure and regulating emotions in open lawn area and waterfront area,followed by leaf mantras in waterfront area and outdoor yoga in dense forest area.However,both activities have no significant effect in low shrub area.

Application of Bayesian Analysis Based on Neural Network and Deep Learning in Data Visualization

This study aims to explore the application of Bayesian analysis based on neural networks and deep learning in data visualization.The research background is that with the increasing amount and complexity of data,traditional data analysis methods have been unable to meet the needs.Research methods include building neural networks and deep learning models,optimizing and improving them through Bayesian analysis,and applying them to the visualization of large-scale data sets.The results show that the neural network combined with Bayesian analysis and deep learning method can effectively improve the accuracy and efficiency of data visualization,and enhance the intuitiveness and depth of data interpretation.The significance of the research is that it provides a new solution for data visualization in the big data environment and helps to further promote the development and application of data science.

Large-scale spatial data visualization method based on augmented reality

Background A task assigned to space exploration satellites involves detecting the physical environment within a certain space.However,space detection data are complex and abstract.These data are not conducive for researchers'visual perceptions of the evolution and interaction of events in the space environment.Methods A time-series dynamic data sampling method for large-scale space was proposed for sample detection data in space and time,and the corresponding relationships between data location features and other attribute features were established.A tone-mapping method based on statistical histogram equalization was proposed and applied to the final attribute feature data.The visualization process is optimized for rendering by merging materials,reducing the number of patches,and performing other operations.Results The results of sampling,feature extraction,and uniform visualization of the detection data of complex types,long duration spans,and uneven spatial distributions were obtained.The real-time visualization of large-scale spatial structures using augmented reality devices,particularly low-performance devices,was also investigated.Conclusions The proposed visualization system can reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of a large-scale space,express the structure and changes in the spatial environment using augmented reality,and assist in intuitively discovering spatial environmental events and evolutionary rules.

Reclusive Dwelling Schema of Chinese Landscape Painting:Narrative Medium,Visualization,and Implication

The reclusive dwelling is an important part of the traditional philosophical culture of ancient China.The Chinese spiritual imagery of reclusion is mainly represented by narrative mediums of poems,paintings,and garden works,resulting in artistic visualization with poetic implication.The article analyzed six Chinese landscape paintings of reclusive dwelling theme,in terms of narrative medium,visualization,and implication.The intention is to conclude the reclusive dwelling schema of Chinese landscape painting and study a visualizing methodology involved spiritual implication on dwelling,which could be beneficial to both contemporary art and architectural creations.

DATA MODEL AND VISUALIZATION OF 3D CITY LANDSCAPE BASED ON INTEGRATED DATABASES

Data acquisition and modeling are the two important, difficult and costful aspects in a Cybercity project. 2D-GIS is mature and can manage a lot of spatial data. Thus 3D-GIS should make the best of data and technology of 2D-GIS. Construction of a useful synthetic environment requires integration of multiple types of information like DEM, texture images and 3D representation of objects such as buildings. In this paper, the method for 3D city landscape data model and visualization based on integrated databases is presented. Since the data volume of raster are very huge, special strategies(for example, pyramid gridded method) must be adopted in order to manage raster data efficiently. Three different methods of data acquisition, the proper data structure and a simple modeling method are presented as well. At last, a pilot project of Shanghai Cybercity is illustrated.

Cultural Interpretation of the Landscape Environment of "Five Zen-Mountains"

'Five Zen-Mountains' are the five temples of Zen designated as the royal court of Southern Song Dynasty. As the typical representatives of South Temples, they play an important part in the history of Chinese Buddhism. 'Five Mountains' are the masterpieces of landscape construction with beautiful and attractive landscape environment. On the basis of the in-depth study of the general rule of 'Five Mountains' landscape environment, this research sums up the geomancy concept, landscape worship concept, aesthetic concept and the inner ideology which are hidden behind the landscape environment.

Programming of Landscape Environment in "Lanting Shanshui" Residential Area

This paper explained natural condition and cultural background of "Lanting Shanshui"(landscape surrounding Orchid Pavilion) residential area,discussed the guiding ideology and principle of the programming of landscape environment.In this design,modern architectural form and materials would be combined with Chinese cultural tradition of "pursuit of natural landscape" in the whole residential area,with everything based on people and nature,entrusting landscape with thoughts and cultural connotation.In addition,macroscopically,in the perspective of overall environmental landscape system and landscaping dynamic index,the author analyzed the overall layout of landscapes;and microscopically,the author described in detail the road,pavement,public rest facilities,marks and some other hard facilities,and landscaping plants(including grouping greening,road greening and public greening),waterscape and other soft facilities of landscape designing.

A novel algorithm for SLAM in dynamic environments using landscape theory of aggregation

To tackle the problem of simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) in dynamic environments, a novel algorithm using landscape theory of aggregation is presented. By exploiting the coherent explanation how actors form alignments in a game provided by the landscape theory of aggregation, the algorithm is able to explicitly deal with the ever-changing relationship between the static objects and the moving objects without any prior models of the moving objects. The effectiveness of the method has been validated by experiments in two representative dynamic environments: the campus road and the urban road.

Embodiment of "Ecological,Cultural,Landscape,Vigorous" Campus—A Case Study of the Planning of Environmental greening in New Campus of Laiwu Vocational and Technical College

The general situation of new campus of Laiwu Vocational and Technical College was introduced.The guiding ideology was that with the purpose of serving faculties and students as the purpose,the designing will be fully combined with excellent natural environment and campus technology and culture,and with ecological landscape as the major and sustainable development as the aim,striving to highlight the theme and landscape,a comfortable,vigorous,innovative and beautiful outdoor spatial environment would be created.In accordance with the planning principle of "people-orientation,ecology,sustainable development,embodying the characteristics of landscapes,overall planning and varied practices",based on the planning thought of "procession of whole and part,of technology and art,of buildings and environment and of landscaping methods",the overall planning and regional division of constructing "ecological,cultural,landscape,vigorous" campus was proposed,that is,the campus environment would be divided into six functional zones(the entrance door zone,footsteps zone,teaching activities zone,life services zone,athletic activities zone and ecological recreation zone) and ten scenic areas(gate landscape area,scientific and technological culture corridor,ecological recreation area,culture exhibition area,Xiushui Lake scenic area,knowledge park,living landscape area,art exhibition area,mountainous scenic area and sports activities area),and meanwhile landscaping plants were planned.

The Research on Land-Use Change and Ecological Environment Effect of Urban Landscape in China

The rapid expansion of urban construction land has become the major characteristic of urban land-use change in China today. Meanwhile, the rapid urbanization process has led to the great changes of urban landscape in China, and it also has had certain impacts on environmental factors such as climate, soil, hydrology, biodiversity, etc., then it has made the overall ecological environment deteriorated. This study is based on the summary and analysis of research on land-use change and ecological environment effect of urban landscape in recent 20 years in China, and it aims at providing scientific bases and theoretical supports for the planning and construction of urban landscape, the sustainable land-use of city and the protection of ecological environment in China.

Heart of Landscape and Contribution of Building Environment: Discussions about Landscape Construction of Outdoor Environment Water Circulation System

Taking the project of German Enterprise Center in Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark as an example, this paper discussed construction of outdoor environment water circulation system using the landscape building method.

Evidence-based Landscape Design of University Campus:Relationship Between Characteristics of Outdoor Environments and Actual Uses of Students

Several studies have shown a positive relationship between high quality outdoor environments and users’health.Education of agricultural professionals also demands high quality outdoor environments in order to promote students’wellbeing,which in turn supports scientific researches.This study analyzed relationship between students’actual uses and campus outdoor environments,identified what environmental characteristics that students prefered,how they used and why they participated in the outdoor activities.The results could be used as guidance of campus design and management.Investigation of three universities in Harbin provided 686 valid questionnaires.The results suggested that health awareness effectively promoted students’use frequencies of outdoor environments.Environment with"natural"and"cultural"characteristics,especially undulating landform,vibrant plants and landmarks in a serpentins design style attracted more uses.Female students showed more preferences on social interaction activities than males.Students who had good economic consumption levels and participated in outdoor activities frequntly in childhood prefered to join all the kinds of activities after university enrollment.

Research on Landscape System of Traditional Living Environment in Jingzhou

With the aid of the research method of land landscape,on the basis of briefly analyzing the construction process of regional traditional living environment in Jingzhou,a hierarchical analysis of the regional landscape system was carried out from the aspects of natural landscape,water conservancy construction,agricultural production and urban construction,and the overall pattern of traditional living environment landscape system in Jingzhou was summarized to provide new ideas for the exploration of landscape system.In view of the many problems in the current urban development of Jingzhou,the enlightenment of traditional human settlement experience and wisdom in Jingzhou to the current urban construction of Jingzhou was summarized to provide an example reference for building a living environment that integrates mountains,water and a city.

A Study on Chinese Waterfront Landscape Based on CiteSpace V Visualization Analysis

Taking 457 papers in core journals of Chinese waterfront landscape included in CNKI database from 2000 to the fi rst half of 2020 as samples,visualization analysis of the number of papers,research institutions,research authors,key words and spatial and temporal distribution of domestic research papers on waterfront landscape in the past 20 years were performed to grasp the dynamic process of the development of domestic waterfront landscape research and clarify the development context,so as to provide academic information with scientific basis and valuable theoretical reference for waterfront landscape related research in China.The results showed that the researches on domestic waterfront landscape presented a downward trend from prosperity to decline;research forces were mainly concentrated in colleges and universities,and most research institutions did not form cooperative relations with authors,and were still in a relatively isolated situation.At present,the research hotspots and frontiers of waterfront landscape in China mainly focus on urban waterfront,urban historical landscape,ecology,cultural landscape and plants landscape.

Impact of Geographical Environment on British Landscape Garden Design

The study attempts to analyze the regional cultural characteristics of Britain under the unique geographical environment by taking the development process and characteristics of British landscape garden as the research object.British culture is an important carrier of British landscape garden culture,and the impact of the unique culture of“the empire on which the sun never sets”on formation and development,formal characteristics,temperament and connotation of landscape garden is discussed.
