Real-Time Grouting Monitoring and Visualization Analysis System for Dam Foundation Curtain Grouting

A real-time monitoring and 3D visualization analysis system is proposed for dam foundation curtain grouting. Based on the real-time control technology, the optimization method and the set theory, a mathematical model of the system is established. The real-time collection and transmission technology of the grouting data provides a data foundation for the system. The real-time grouting monitoring and dynamic alarming method helps the system control the grouting quality during the grouting process, thus, the abnormalities of grouting, such as jacking and hydraulic uplift, can be effectively controlled. In addition, the 3D grouting visualization analysis technology is proposed to establish the grouting information model(GIM). The GIM provides a platform to visualize and analyze the grouting process and results. The system has been applied to a hydraulic project of China as a case study, and the application results indicate that the real-time grouting monitoring and 3D visualization analysis for the grouting process can help engineers control the grouting quality more efficiently.

ILIDViz:An incremental learning-based visual analysis system for network anomaly detection

Background With the development of information technology,there is a significant increase in the number of network traffic logs mixed with various types of cyberattacks.Traditional intrusion detection systems(IDSs)are limited in detecting new inconstant patterns and identifying malicious traffic traces in real time.Therefore,there is an urgent need to implement more effective intrusion detection technologies to protect computer security.Methods In this study,we designed a hybrid IDS by combining our incremental learning model(KANSOINN)and active learning to learn new log patterns and detect various network anomalies in real time.Conclusions Experimental results on the NSLKDD dataset showed that KAN-SOINN can be continuously improved and effectively detect malicious logs.Meanwhile,comparative experiments proved that using a hybrid query strategy in active learning can improve the model learning efficiency.

Dynamic and Refined Analysis of Slow Moving System Research in China in the Last 20 Years Based on CiteSpace

The urban slow traffic system refers to the traffic system in the city that can allow people to walk, ride, travel by bus and other slow travel. Through 4,728 papers on slow moving system in China from 2000 to 2020 included in CNKI, analysis and summary of literature publishing trend, research strength,research focus and development trend are conducted based on CiteSpace software. It is expected to provide reference for future research in this field.

Bibliometric and Visualized Analysis of Cardiac Rehabilitation Research for Coronary Heart Disease Patients

Objective: This study visualizes and analyzes the current status, hotspots, and frontiers of cardiac rehabilitation for patients with Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) over the past decade (2012.01-2022.12), and explores the future development trend and research direction of the CR for CHD patients in China. Methods: Relevant literature was searched, screened and downloaded from the Web of Science (WOS) database, and bibliometric and visualization analyses were performed using CiteSpace VI software. Results: Through the search and screening of related literature, 2443 English articles were finally included. Among them, most of the Chinese publishers were mainly universities and had less connection with each other, while the foreign publishers were mainly universities and medical institutions in the United States and Europe, and had close connection with each other. The research content of Chinese scholars mainly focuses on the assessment of patients’ life and psychological status, as well as the assessment of cardiac function. Foreign research focuses on physical training assessment, disease perception, etc. Conclusion: Through visualizing relevant research with CiteSpace VI software in the form of a knowledge map, the research frontiers and trends in the field of cardiac rehabilitation for coronary heart disease patients in China and abroad can be discovered more intuitively. Compared with foreign research, the development of cardiac rehabilitation for coronary heart disease patients in China is relatively slow and insufficient, and institutions lack cooperation. In the future, China should accelerate the connection between regions in the field of cardiac rehabilitation and develop a cardiac rehabilitation model suitable for coronary heart disease patients in China with its own characteristics.

Keyword Co-occurrence Analysis of Research on Innovation Ecosystem Studies

The aim of the paper is to identify and explore leading thematic areas within the research field related to innovation ecosystem.Based on data from the Web of Science database,the keywords frequency and its co-occurrence frequency pair were analyzed,and the theory of mapping knowledge domains was used to visualize the keywords co-occurrence network in innovation ecosystem to make further research of the heated issues.The findings indicate that the research scope involved in innovation ecosystem research is broad,and research content focus on micro and macro levels.According to the results of keywords co-occurrence analysis of different stages,innovation,network,knowledge,strategy,open innovation,value creation are the most important issues to innovation ecosystem research,given their position and role in the research network.The paper generates the added value mainly from the point of view of theory development.

Visual analysis of the research hotspots of Neuman systems model in recent 20 years

Background:This paper uses information visualization software to sort out the relevant research of Neuman systems model at home and abroad in the past 20 years,and discusses the research hotspots and development trend in the field of Neuman systems model,so as to provide scientific and reliable reference for the future work and research.Methods:By using CiteSpace V software,this paper analyzes the literatures about the Neuman systems model collected in the core web of science database and CNKI database from 2001 to 2020,and analyzes the time distribution,research power distribution,research hotspots,research frontier and development trend of the Neuman systems model at home and abroad in the past 20 years.Results:The development trend of research in this field in foreign countries is relatively stable.The core strength of research is mainly in the United States,and the research hotspots are health,quality of life,caregivers,spirituality,etc;the research in this field in China is gradually on the rise,and there is no obvious research force,and the research hotspots are mainly quality of life,complications,anxiety,stressors,perioperative period,hypertension,etc.Conclusions:It has been proved that the model has a certain guiding effect on the development of nursing discipline in China.In China,there is still room for development in the research of this model.It is suggested that Chinese scholars can learn from foreign leading research forces to carry out in-depth research and expand its application scope.

Systematic Review of Graphical Visual Methods in Honeypot Attack Data Analysis

Mitigating increasing cyberattack incidents may require strategies such as reinforcing organizations’ networks with Honeypots and effectively analyzing attack traffic for detection of zero-day attacks and vulnerabilities. To effectively detect and mitigate cyberattacks, both computerized and visual analyses are typically required. However, most security analysts are not adequately trained in visualization principles and/or methods, which is required for effective visual perception of useful attack information hidden in attack data. Additionally, Honeypot has proven useful in cyberattack research, but no studies have comprehensively investigated visualization practices in the field. In this paper, we reviewed visualization practices and methods commonly used in the discovery and communication of attack patterns based on Honeypot network traffic data. Using the PRISMA methodology, we identified and screened 218 papers and evaluated only 37 papers having a high impact. Most Honeypot papers conducted summary statistics of Honeypot data based on static data metrics such as IP address, port, and packet size. They visually analyzed Honeypot attack data using simple graphical methods (such as line, bar, and pie charts) that tend to hide useful attack information. Furthermore, only a few papers conducted extended attack analysis, and commonly visualized attack data using scatter and linear plots. Papers rarely included simple yet sophisticated graphical methods, such as box plots and histograms, which allow for critical evaluation of analysis results. While a significant number of automated visualization tools have incorporated visualization standards by default, the construction of effective and expressive graphical methods for easy pattern discovery and explainable insights still requires applied knowledge and skill of visualization principles and tools, and occasionally, an interdisciplinary collaboration with peers. We, therefore, suggest the need, going forward, for non-classical graphical methods for visualizing attack patterns and communicating analysis results. We also recommend training investigators in visualization principles and standards for effective visual perception and presentation.

Mesenchymal stem cell therapy in atherosclerosis:A bibliometric and visual analysis

BACKGROUND Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are capable of self-renewal and differentiation,and extensive studies have demonstrated their therapeutic potential in atherosclerosis(AS).AIM To conduct a bibliometric analysis of studies on the use of MSC therapy for AS over the past two decades,assess key trends and provide insights for future research directions.METHODS We systematically searched the Web of Science Core Collection database for articles published between 1999 and 2023,yielding a total of 556 articles.Visual representation and bibliometric analysis of information and trends were facilitated using CiteSpace,the R package‘bibliometrix’and VOSviewer.RESULTS The analyzed articles were predominantly from 52 countries/regions,with prominent contributions from China and the United States.A cohort of 3057 authors contributed to these publications,with the works of Libby P distinguished by their influence and citation count.Int J Mol Sci has emerged as the journal with the highest publication volume,prominently disseminating influential papers and identifying citation outbreaks.Furthermore,our analysis identified current research hotspots within the field,focusing on vascular progenitor cells,inflammatory mechanisms,and extracellular vesicles.Emerging research frontiers,such as extracellular vesicles and oxidative stress,have been highlighted as areas of burgeoning interest.Finally,we offer perspectives on the status of research and future directions of MSC therapy in AS.CONCLUSION This comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights for advancing scientific research on MSC therapy for AS.By elucidating pivotal trends and research directions,this study aimed to foster innovation and promote the progress of disciplines in this field,thereby contributing to advancing scientific knowledge and clinical practice.

Bibliometric analysis of research in epilepsy and comorbid depression from 2014 to 2023

BACKGROUND Epilepsy and depression have complicated bidirectional relationships.Our study aimed to explore the field of epilepsy comorbid with depression in a bibliometric perspective from 2014-2023.AIM To improve our understanding of epilepsy and depression by evaluating the relationship between epilepsy and depression,bibliometric analyses were performed.METHODS Epilepsy and depression-related publications from the last decade were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection.We conducted bibliometric and visual analysis using VOSviewer and CiteSpace,examining authorships,countries,institutions,journals of publication,co-citations of references,connections between keywords,clusters of keywords,and keywords with citation bursts.RESULTS Over the past ten years,we collected 1045 research papers focusing on the field of epilepsy and comorbid depression.Publications on epilepsy and depression have shown a general upward trend over time,though with some fluctuations.The United States,with 287 articles,and the University of Melbourne,contributing 34 articles,were the top countries and institutions,respectively.In addition,in the field of epilepsy and depression,Professor Lee,who has published 30 articles,was the most contributing author.The hot topics pay attention to the quality of life in patients with epilepsy and depression.CONCLUSION We reported that quality of life and stigma in patients with epilepsy comorbid with depression are possible future hot topics and directions in the field of epilepsy and depression research.

Visual Analysis of Application and Development Trend of Agarwood Based on CiteSpace

The Chinese traditional medicine,agarwood,is a commonly used medicine for regulating qi,which has many clinical applications because of its unique curative effect.In this study,CiteSpace software was used to visually analyze the application and development trend of agarwood in the literature from CNKI website in the period of 2007-2022.The analysis results showed that the research on agarwood has basically formed core groups of authors,and universities and their affiliated hospitals are main publishing institutions.Moreover,in this study,several research directions of agarwood were also summarized,including clinical research,chemical composition,structural identification and quality standards,showing that agarwood has rich and flexible application prospects in many aspects.On this basis,several suggestions were put forward:strengthening the cooperation between universities and research institutes and building a scientific research cooperation community,and promoting the combination of clinical research and laboratory research.

Development,hotspots and trend directions of groundwater numerical simulation:A bibliometric and visualization analysis

Groundwater is a vital component of the hydrological cycle and essential for the sustainable development of ecosystems.Numerical simulation methods are key tools for addressing scientific challenges in groundwater research.This study uses bibliometric visualization analysis to examine the progress and trends in groundwater numerical simulation methods.By analyzing literature indexed in the Web of Science database from January 1990 to February 2023,and employing tools such as Citespace and VOSviewer,we assessed publication volume,research institutions and their collaborations,prolific scholars,keyword clustering,and emerging trends.The findings indicate an overall upward trend in both the number of publications and citations concerning groundwater numerical simulations.Since 2010,the number of publications has tripled compared to the total before 2010,underscoring the increasing significance and potential of numerical simulation methods in groundwater science.China,in particular,has shown remarkable growth in this field over the past decade,surpassing the United States,Canada,and Germany.This progress is closely linked to strong national support and active participation from research institutions,especially the contributions from teams at Hohai University,China University of Geosciences,and the University of Science and Technology of China.Collaboration between research teams is primarily seen between China and the United States,with less noticeable cooperation among other countries,resulting in a diverse and dispersed development pattern.Keyword analysis highlights that international research hotspots include groundwater recharge,karst water,geothermal water migration,seawater intrusion,variable density flow,contaminant and solute transport,pollution remediation,and land subsidence.Looking ahead,groundwater numerical simulations are expected to play a more prominent role in areas such as climate change,surface water-groundwater interactions,the impact of groundwater nitrates on the environment and health,submarine groundwater discharge,ecological water use,groundwater management,and risk prevention.

Visual Analysis of the Application and Development Trend of Cinnamon in the Field of Traditional Chinese Medicine Based on CiteSpace

[Objectives]This study was conducted to explore the application and development trend of Chinese medicinal material cinnamon in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.[Methods]Articles published from 2008 to 2023 were exported using"cinnamon"as the subject word in the Chinese database of CNKI.Knowledge graphs were drawn by CiteSpace software on the number of articles published,the institutions publishing articles,and keyword clustering,and the data were sorted by Excel.Combined with the extracted information,the application of cinnamon in traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine was analyzed,and its development trend was discussed and prospected,providing further reference for researchers.[Results]The number of articles published showed an overall upward trend and maintained a high number of articles.In the analysis of the journals publishing articles,the journal with the largest number of articles was West China Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences,which had certain representativeness.In the analysis of institutions publishing articles,the institution with the largest number of articles was Beijing University of Chinese Medicine,and most institutions had little cooperation.Four categories was obtained in keyword clustering,respectively,general research,component identification,production process and product development of cinnamon."Glycyrrhizin"was the keyword with the earliest burst time,and the hot words that have received much attention in recent years are"medication law"and"data mining".[Conclusions]The application of cinnamon in the field of traditional Chinese medicine is mainly to treat diseases and as raw materials for traditional Chinese medicine products.The development trend is"quality control"and"product research and development".Further research and development of cinnamon in traditional Chinese medicine need to promote the participation of more institutions to participate,and cooperation and communication between institutions should be strengthened to promote the deep integration of production,research and academia.

Research Characteristics of Thermal Comfort of Urban Block Landscape Based on Knowledge Graph Analysis

The landscape environment of urban blocks plays a significant role in improving the comfort of urban thermal environment and promoting green and high-quality development.The 342 papers related to the research on the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort in China,collected by CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure)from 2002 to 2022,are used as the research object.Through bibliometric statistical analysis,LLR algorithm,and cluster analysis,the current research status of the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort in China is analyzed and processed,and its external characteristics are identified.Using the information visualization software CiteSpace,the research topics in the field of the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort are presented in the form of knowledge graphs.Through co-occurrence analysis of keywords and trend of word frequency changes,the development trends of research hotspots and cutting-edge fields of the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort are determined,hoping to provide reference for future research in this field.

Bibliometric and visual analysis of post-stroke hemiplegia in the past 20 years

Objective:The purpose of this study is to use CiteSpace software to examine the development patterns and hotspots in post-stroke hemiplegia research during the last 20 years.Methods:Articles about post-stroke hemiplegia from January 2005 to December 2024 were analyzed in the Web of Science database.CiteSpace software was used to conduct co-citation analysis of the articles about post-stroke hemiplegia as well as cooperative network analyses of authors,countries,and institutions,as well as keyword co-occurrence,clustering,emergence,and time line analyses.The results were displayed in a visual atlas.Result:A total of 2625 papers were obtained,and there were more publications overall.China and the United States had the most number of articles,while Chae,John was the author with the most number of articles.Capital Med University and Ohio State University had the most articles among their agencies.The keywords"stroke"and"rehabilitation"were used the most.The key word analysis indicates that the present study focus is on exercise rehabilitation measures and post-stroke treatment.Conclusion:Using CiteSpace software to analyze the literature on post-stroke hemiplegia,it is discovered that the use of new technologies in the field of mechanical thrombectomy and the effectiveness of rehabilitation techniques like mirror treatment are the key areas of study attention.This study has positive significance for finding safer and more effective treatments for post-stroke hemiplegia.

Research hotspots andfrontiersanalysisoftraditional Chinese medicine constitution identification:Avisual analysis of literature based on CiteSpaceand vosviewer

Objective:To explore the development and hotspots in the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)constitution identification since the year 2000.Methods:Using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software,literature from five prominent databases including VIP,WanFang,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),PubMed,and Web ofScience was analyzed.Visual methods were used to examine the annual publications,keywords,authors,and collaborative networks.Results:After deduplication with EndNotes,a total of 5,747 articles meeting the criteria were included.Since 2000,the publications of TCM constitution identification shown three major stages:a significant increasing trend with the year before 2016,a fluctuating trend from 2016 to 2021,and a decreasing trend with the year after 2021.The co-occurrence analysis ofkeywords revealed health management,hypertension,and constitution as hot directions in this field of research.CiteSpace was used for keyword clustering and burst analysis,health management,medical life,and constitution emerged as the latest hotspots in the past three years,which will be the main development directions in the future.Clusters such as hypertension,preventive treatment,and health management were identified,representing the main research themes at present.VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used for co-occurrence and clustering analysis of authors,revealing collaborative research networks,with prominent groups represented by WANG Qi,WANG Ji,LI Lingru,HOU Shujuan,ZHU Yanbo,etc.Conclusion:Research related to TCM constitution identification is developing rapidly,involving various aspects of medical care and daily life.However,there is still a need to build an extensive academic platform,strengthen the dissemination of Chinese medicine culture,standardize,intellectualize and universalize the identification of TCM constitution assessments,and construct a health service system with Chinese characteristics.

Traditional Chinese Medicine in colorectal cancer treatment:a bibliometrics study and visualization analysis via CiteSpace

Objective:To evaluate the current state of research and areas of interest for traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in the field of colorectal cancer treatment.Methods:Related papers published between January 1,2012,and November 27,2021,were found using the Web of Science Core Collection Science Citation Index Expanded.Using CiteSpace's network map generation capability,we then determined the top writers,organizations,countries,keywords,co-cited writers,journals,references,and research trends.Results:This investigation yielded a total of 336 relevant papers.China is the most productive country.Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the leading institution.The journal with the most popularity and publishing volume is Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine.The author with the most citations and centrality is Lin JM.The terms"epithelial-mesenchymal transition,""cell cycle arrest,""apoptosis,"and"autophagy"are highly frequent and have a high betweenness centrality.Conclusion:According to the results,research on natural products,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)extracts,and the molecular mechanisms of TCM chemical constituents constitutes the primary focus within TCM cancer treatment investigations.In recent years,there has been a surge of interest in exploring the role of gut microbiota in TCM chemical constituents research,particularly in its ability to induce apoptosis and autophagy in tumor cells,thereby suppressing tumor cell proliferation,metastasis,and invasion.However,due to the intricate composition of TCM and existing technical limitations,the underlying principles guiding TCM's efficacy in treating colorectal cancer remain unclear and warrant further investigation.

Measurement Analysis and Evaluation of Twenty-Five Years of Mathematics Education Research in China:Visual Econometric Analysis Based on CiteSpace Knowledge Mapping(1999-2024)

Since the new century,China’s mathematics curriculum reform in basic education has continued to move forward in attempts and explorations,presenting many new changes,trends,movements,and developments.Sorting out,analyzing,and summarizing the achievements,experiences,problems,and challenges in this journey are conducive to providing insights for the reform and development of the Chinese basic education mathematics curriculum in the new era.This paper analyses the research on mathematics education in China(1999-2024)using the visual measurement of CiteSpace knowledge mapping,hoping to provide directions for the future of mathematics education in China.

Insights into stem cell therapy for diabetic retinopathy: a bibliometric and visual analysis

Stem cells have been confirmed to be involved in the occurrence and development of diabetic retinopathy;however,the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.In this study,we used Citespace software to visually analyze 552 articles exploring the stem cell-based treatment of diabetic retinopathy over the past 20 years,which were included in the Web of Science Core Collection.We found the following:(1)a co-citation analysis of the references cited by all 552 articles indicated 15 clusters.In cluster#0,representing the stem cell field,some highly cited landmark studies emerged between 2009–2013.For example,endothelial progenitor cells and diabetic retinopathy gradually received the full attention of scholars,in terms of their relationship and therapeutic prospects.Some researchers also verified the potential of adipose-derived stem cells to differentiate into stable retinal perivascular cells,using a variety of animal models of retinal vascular disease.All of these achievements provided references for the subsequent stem cell research.(2)An analysis of popular keywords among the 552 articles revealed that,during the past 20 years,a relative increase in basic research articles examining stem cells and endothelial progenitor cells for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy was observed.The contents of these articles primarily involved the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor,vascular regeneration,oxidative stress,and inflammatory response.(3)A burst analysis of keywords used in the 552 articles indicated that genetic and cytological research regarding the promotion of angiogenesis was an issue of concern from 2001 to 2012,including several studies addressing the expression of various growth factor genes;from 2014 to 2020,mouse models of diabetic retinopathy were recognized as mature animal models,and the most recent research has focused on macular degeneration,macular edema,neurodegeneration,and inflammatory changes in diabetic animal models.(4)Globally,the current authoritative studies have focused on basic research towards the stem cell treatment of diabetic retinopathy.Existing clinical studies are of low quality and have insufficient evidence levels,and their findings have not yet been widely accepted in clinical practice.Major challenges during stem cell transplantation remain,including stem cell heterogeneity,cell delivery,and the effective homing of stem cells to damaged tissue.However,clinical trials examining potential stem cell-based treatments of diabetic retinopathy,including the use of pluripotent stem cells,retinal pigment epithelial cells,bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells,and endothelial progenitor cells,are currently ongoing,and high-quality clinical evidence is likely to appear in the future,to promote clinical transformation.

Bibliometric profile of neurogenic bladder in the literature:a 20-year bibliometric analysis

Neurogenic bladder is a dysfunction of the lower urinary tract caused by nervous system disor- der. We investigated the trends in publication of articles under the topic ＂neurogenic bladder＂ using bibliometric analysis. Articles on neurogenic bladder, published between 1995 and 2014, were retrieved from the ISI Web of Science citation database. We analyzed the search results for authors, countries, institutions, journals, and top-cited papers. A total of 1,904 articles were re- trieved. There was a small increase in the number of articles on neurogenic bladder from 1995 （n = 43） to 2014 （n = 117）. The USA was the leading country in the total number of articles （n = 598）. However, the number of publications from China has rapidly increased, and China was ranked second in 2014. Emmanuel Chartier-Kastler （n = 65） was the most productive author, and University of Paris VI （Paris 6） （n = 61） was the most productive institution. The Journal of Urology published the greatest number of artides on this topic （n = 285）. Articles on neurogenic bladder were often published in a professional journal under the category Urology ＆ Nephrology, Neurosciences ＆ Neurology, or Rehabilitation. Visualization analysis based on co-citation networks was conducted using CiteSpace III. Visualization analysis revealed that the hot spots in neurogenic bladder were botulinum toxin-A, prazosin, bethanechol, and afferent pathways. These findings provide new insight into the publication trends and hot spots in neurogenic bladder.

Science Mapping:A Systematic Review of the Literature

Purpose： We present a systematic review of the literature concerning major aspects of science mapping to serve two primary purposes： First, to demonstrate the use of a science mapping approach to perform the review so that researchers may apply the procedure to the review of a scientific domain of their own interest, and second, to identify major areas of research activities concerning science mapping, intellectual milestones in the development of key specialties, evolutionary stages of major specialties involved, and the dynamics of transitions from one specialty to another.Design/methodology/approach： We first introduce a theoretical framework of the evolution of a scientific specialty. Then we demonstrate a generic search strategy that can be used to construct a representative dataset of bibliographic records of a domain of research. Next, progressively synthesized co-citation networks are constructed and visualized to aid visual analytic studies of the domain＇s structural and dynamic patterns and trends. Finally, trajectories of citations made by particular types of authors and articles are presented to illustrate the predictive potential of the analytic approach.Findings： The evolution of the science mapping research involves the development of a number of interrelated specialties. Four major specialties are discussed in detail in terms of four evolutionary stages： conceptualization, tool construction, application, and codification. Underlying connections between major specialties are also explored. The predictive analysis demonstrates citations trajectories of potentially transformative contributions.Research limitations： The systematic review is primarily guided by citation patterns in the dataset retrieved from the literature. The scope of the data is limited by the source of the retrieval, i.e. the Web of Science, and the composite query used. An iterative query refinement is possible if one would like to improve the data quality, although the current approach serves our purpose adequately. In order to master such a complex process of science mapping, researchers often need to develop a diverse set of skills and knowledge that may span multiple disciplines. The approach demonstrated in this article provides a generic method for conducting a systematic review.Originality/value： Incorporating the evolutionary stages of a specialty into the visual analytic study of a research domain is innovative. It provides a systematic methodology for researchers to achieve a good understanding of how scientific fields evolve, to recognize potentially insightful patterns from visually encoded signs, and to synthesize various information so as to capture the state of the art of the domain.
