Bibliometric analysis of research in epilepsy and comorbid depression from 2014 to 2023

BACKGROUND Epilepsy and depression have complicated bidirectional relationships.Our study aimed to explore the field of epilepsy comorbid with depression in a bibliometric perspective from 2014-2023.AIM To improve our understanding of epilepsy and depression by evaluating the relationship between epilepsy and depression,bibliometric analyses were performed.METHODS Epilepsy and depression-related publications from the last decade were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection.We conducted bibliometric and visual analysis using VOSviewer and CiteSpace,examining authorships,countries,institutions,journals of publication,co-citations of references,connections between keywords,clusters of keywords,and keywords with citation bursts.RESULTS Over the past ten years,we collected 1045 research papers focusing on the field of epilepsy and comorbid depression.Publications on epilepsy and depression have shown a general upward trend over time,though with some fluctuations.The United States,with 287 articles,and the University of Melbourne,contributing 34 articles,were the top countries and institutions,respectively.In addition,in the field of epilepsy and depression,Professor Lee,who has published 30 articles,was the most contributing author.The hot topics pay attention to the quality of life in patients with epilepsy and depression.CONCLUSION We reported that quality of life and stigma in patients with epilepsy comorbid with depression are possible future hot topics and directions in the field of epilepsy and depression research.

Visual Analysis of Application and Development Trend of Agarwood Based on CiteSpace

The Chinese traditional medicine,agarwood,is a commonly used medicine for regulating qi,which has many clinical applications because of its unique curative effect.In this study,CiteSpace software was used to visually analyze the application and development trend of agarwood in the literature from CNKI website in the period of 2007-2022.The analysis results showed that the research on agarwood has basically formed core groups of authors,and universities and their affiliated hospitals are main publishing institutions.Moreover,in this study,several research directions of agarwood were also summarized,including clinical research,chemical composition,structural identification and quality standards,showing that agarwood has rich and flexible application prospects in many aspects.On this basis,several suggestions were put forward:strengthening the cooperation between universities and research institutes and building a scientific research cooperation community,and promoting the combination of clinical research and laboratory research.

Research Characteristics of Thermal Comfort of Urban Block Landscape Based on Knowledge Graph Analysis

The landscape environment of urban blocks plays a significant role in improving the comfort of urban thermal environment and promoting green and high-quality development.The 342 papers related to the research on the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort in China,collected by CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure)from 2002 to 2022,are used as the research object.Through bibliometric statistical analysis,LLR algorithm,and cluster analysis,the current research status of the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort in China is analyzed and processed,and its external characteristics are identified.Using the information visualization software CiteSpace,the research topics in the field of the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort are presented in the form of knowledge graphs.Through co-occurrence analysis of keywords and trend of word frequency changes,the development trends of research hotspots and cutting-edge fields of the impact of urban block landscape environment on thermal comfort are determined,hoping to provide reference for future research in this field.

Traditional Chinese Medicine in colorectal cancer treatment:a bibliometrics study and visualization analysis via CiteSpace

Objective:To evaluate the current state of research and areas of interest for traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in the field of colorectal cancer treatment.Methods:Related papers published between January 1,2012,and November 27,2021,were found using the Web of Science Core Collection Science Citation Index Expanded.Using CiteSpace's network map generation capability,we then determined the top writers,organizations,countries,keywords,co-cited writers,journals,references,and research trends.Results:This investigation yielded a total of 336 relevant papers.China is the most productive country.Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the leading institution.The journal with the most popularity and publishing volume is Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine.The author with the most citations and centrality is Lin JM.The terms"epithelial-mesenchymal transition,""cell cycle arrest,""apoptosis,"and"autophagy"are highly frequent and have a high betweenness centrality.Conclusion:According to the results,research on natural products,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)extracts,and the molecular mechanisms of TCM chemical constituents constitutes the primary focus within TCM cancer treatment investigations.In recent years,there has been a surge of interest in exploring the role of gut microbiota in TCM chemical constituents research,particularly in its ability to induce apoptosis and autophagy in tumor cells,thereby suppressing tumor cell proliferation,metastasis,and invasion.However,due to the intricate composition of TCM and existing technical limitations,the underlying principles guiding TCM's efficacy in treating colorectal cancer remain unclear and warrant further investigation.

Measurement Analysis and Evaluation of Twenty-Five Years of Mathematics Education Research in China:Visual Econometric Analysis Based on CiteSpace Knowledge Mapping(1999-2024)

Since the new century,China’s mathematics curriculum reform in basic education has continued to move forward in attempts and explorations,presenting many new changes,trends,movements,and developments.Sorting out,analyzing,and summarizing the achievements,experiences,problems,and challenges in this journey are conducive to providing insights for the reform and development of the Chinese basic education mathematics curriculum in the new era.This paper analyses the research on mathematics education in China(1999-2024)using the visual measurement of CiteSpace knowledge mapping,hoping to provide directions for the future of mathematics education in China.

ILIDViz:An incremental learning-based visual analysis system for network anomaly detection

Background With the development of information technology,there is a significant increase in the number of network traffic logs mixed with various types of cyberattacks.Traditional intrusion detection systems(IDSs)are limited in detecting new inconstant patterns and identifying malicious traffic traces in real time.Therefore,there is an urgent need to implement more effective intrusion detection technologies to protect computer security.Methods In this study,we designed a hybrid IDS by combining our incremental learning model(KANSOINN)and active learning to learn new log patterns and detect various network anomalies in real time.Conclusions Experimental results on the NSLKDD dataset showed that KAN-SOINN can be continuously improved and effectively detect malicious logs.Meanwhile,comparative experiments proved that using a hybrid query strategy in active learning can improve the model learning efficiency.

Multimodal sentiment analysis for social media contents during public emergencies

Purpose:Nowadays,public opinions during public emergencies involve not only textual contents but also contain images.However,the existing works mainly focus on textual contents and they do not provide a satisfactory accuracy of sentiment analysis,lacking the combination of multimodal contents.In this paper,we propose to combine texts and images generated in the social media to perform sentiment analysis.Design/methodology/approach:We propose a Deep Multimodal Fusion Model(DMFM),which combines textual and visual sentiment analysis.We first train word2vec model on a large-scale public emergency corpus to obtain semantic-rich word vectors as the input of textual sentiment analysis.BiLSTM is employed to generate encoded textual embeddings.To fully excavate visual information from images,a modified pretrained VGG16-based sentiment analysis network is used with the best-performed fine-tuning strategy.A multimodal fusion method is implemented to fuse textual and visual embeddings completely,producing predicted labels.Findings:We performed extensive experiments on Weibo and Twitter public emergency datasets,to evaluate the performance of our proposed model.Experimental results demonstrate that the DMFM provides higher accuracy compared with baseline models.The introduction of images can boost the performance of sentiment analysis during public emergencies.Research limitations:In the future,we will test our model in a wider dataset.We will also consider a better way to learn the multimodal fusion information.Practical implications:We build an efficient multimodal sentiment analysis model for the social media contents during public emergencies.Originality/value:We consider the images posted by online users during public emergencies on social platforms.The proposed method can present a novel scope for sentiment analysis during public emergencies and provide the decision support for the government when formulating policies in public emergencies.

Visual Analysis of Research Hotspots and Trends of Benefit Finding in China Based on Citespace

[Objectives]Based on the related literature of benefit finding in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),this paper analyzes the research status,hot spots and trends in this field.[Methods]To search for the related literature on benefit finding in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),and use Citespace software to visually analyze the number of papers,authors,institutions and keywords.[Results]A total of 204 related papers were obtained,and the annual number of published papers showed a gradual increasing trend.The authors of published papers were represented by Zhang Fenglan,Liu Zhunzhun and Zhang Ting,and the Nursing College of Anhui Medical University published the most papers.The research focus was on social support,coping method and other influencing factors,and qualitative research was the main research type.The key population was breast cancer,stroke patients and their caregivers,and the development trend focused on reliability and validity test and correlation analysis.[Conclusions]The field of benefit finding in China is in the initial exploration stage,and there is little cooperation and exchange between authors and institutions.In the future,academic exchanges and multidisciplinary assistance should be strengthened to promote the rapid development of this field.

Research Hotspot and Trend Analysis of Wuling Powder Based on CiteSpace

[Objectives]This study was conducted to systematically present the research and development status of Wuling Powder over the years, and comprehensively analyze the hot spots and trends of Wuling Powder in the treatment of diseases, so as to provide reference for scholars in this field in the future. [Methods] China National Knowledge Network(CNKI) database was used as the literature retrieval source to search the literature related to Wuling Powder in the treatment of nephropathy, and then the data visualization analysis was carried out by using the software citespace.5.7.R2. [Results] Through accurate retrieval, a total of 204 effective literatures were included. It was found that domestic research on the treatment of nephropathy by Wuling Powder was on the rise. From the analysis of knowledge graph, it was concluded that after long-term research and development, a relatively concentrated core research group had been formed in China, which mainly focused on "Wuling Powder", "chronic kidney disease" and "diabetic nephropathy". [Conclusions] The research on the treatment of nephropathy by Wuling Powder shows a good development trend, and the research content is constantly enriched, and this research is still the current and future research hotspot.

Knowledge Map of Soil Nutrient Migration Analysis Based on WOS (Web of Science) Database

It is important to understand the research trends and hotspots of global soil nutrient migration and control. Based on the core collection of WOS (Web of Science), citespace knowledge map analysis tool was used to analyze the number of publications, cooperation networks, disciplines, research hotspots and frontier trends on nutrient migration in soil. The results showed that: the number of publications on the study of soil nutrient migration showed a good growth from 1990 to 2021. 173 countries had cooperative relationships. The number of articles published in the United States and China was significantly higher than that in other countries, while Chinese Academy of Sciences was the institution with the largest number of publications. It was a comprehensive system that permeates with agriculture, environmental science, botany and other disciplines. The research of nutrient migration in soil mainly focused on the measures of microbial community in different land types to promote nutrient transformation, improve soil fertility and reduce nutrient loss. In the future, the research trends will be the management measures of soil nutrient loss, the relationship between the change of soil nutrient and plant community diversity, and the remediation of agricultural contaminated soil. Through the above analysis, there was an overall understanding of soil nutrient migration. The research on nutrient migration may continue to increase in the future. It is suggested that Chinese research institutions, teams and universities need to strengthen international cooperation, and speed up their integration with the international community.

Review and Development Trends of Dynamic Adaptive Building Skin Research Based on CiteSpace Analysis

Building skin plays an important role in reducing energy consumption,and low-carbon ecology has become the development goal of architecture all over the world.Through the dynamic control of variable components on the surface,the building with dynamic adaptive building skin can better adapt to the climate,thus achieving better energy saving effects.By searching the articles in the web of science database and using CiteSpace software for visualization analysis,this paper analyzes the research process,research hotspot and research trend of dynamic adaptive building skin from the perspectives of time,quantity,distribution domain,representative experts and articles,institutions,keywords,co-citations and main research contents.It is concluded that the development trend of dynamic adaptive building skin includes the application of efficiency simulation,new materials,bionic technology,and the combination of solar photovoltaics.

Bibliometric and Visualized Analysis of Cardiac Rehabilitation Research for Coronary Heart Disease Patients

Objective: This study visualizes and analyzes the current status, hotspots, and frontiers of cardiac rehabilitation for patients with Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) over the past decade (2012.01-2022.12), and explores the future development trend and research direction of the CR for CHD patients in China. Methods: Relevant literature was searched, screened and downloaded from the Web of Science (WOS) database, and bibliometric and visualization analyses were performed using CiteSpace VI software. Results: Through the search and screening of related literature, 2443 English articles were finally included. Among them, most of the Chinese publishers were mainly universities and had less connection with each other, while the foreign publishers were mainly universities and medical institutions in the United States and Europe, and had close connection with each other. The research content of Chinese scholars mainly focuses on the assessment of patients’ life and psychological status, as well as the assessment of cardiac function. Foreign research focuses on physical training assessment, disease perception, etc. Conclusion: Through visualizing relevant research with CiteSpace VI software in the form of a knowledge map, the research frontiers and trends in the field of cardiac rehabilitation for coronary heart disease patients in China and abroad can be discovered more intuitively. Compared with foreign research, the development of cardiac rehabilitation for coronary heart disease patients in China is relatively slow and insufficient, and institutions lack cooperation. In the future, China should accelerate the connection between regions in the field of cardiac rehabilitation and develop a cardiac rehabilitation model suitable for coronary heart disease patients in China with its own characteristics.

Dynamic Visualization Analysis of China's Urban Greenway Research Based on CiteSpace

Greenway is an organic part of urban ecological network system,and its construction is closely related to urban ecological civilization.Urban greenway not only provides elastic space for high-density cities,but also promotes the construction of low-carbon and resilient cities,thus constantly creating ideal living environment.Through visualization analysis of 1,315 literatures on China's urban greenway included in CNKI from 1986 to the first half of 2022,the paper analyzed the published papers,research strength,research hotspots and frontier trend of China's urban greenway research based on CiteSpace,in order to provide a reference for future research of urban greenway in China.

Visual Analysis of Digital Healthcare Based on CiteSpace

Objective: Digital healthcare is rapidly becoming a new model for medical development in the information society with its convenience, and personalization, and a research boom in digital healthcare has formed at home and abroad in recent years. The purpose of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the field of digital healthcare and to understand the research background and development trend in this field. Methods: A visual analysis of authors, institutions, journals and keywords was conducted using CiteSpace 5.8R3 software. Results: A total of 1646 digital healthcare-related retrieved from WoS and PubMed studies. There was an overall upward trend in the number of digital healthcare publications, with the highest number of publications in 2021 (290). The author AZIZ SHEIKH is ranked first in the number of published articles (13), while King Saud University (23) is the research institution with the most articles. Keyword clustering showed that the first cluster was data security;the common high frequency keywords that appeared were systems (85), artificial intelligence (82), mobile health (70), internet (61), and technology (57). Digital healthcare, artificial intelligence, healthcare services, machine learning and deep learning are the hotspot of current research. Conclusion: This paper summarises the state of the art in digital healthcare research. Using statistical analysis and network visualisation, it highlights the background, trends and hot topics in digital healthcare research. The paper finds that there is significant potential for artificial intelligence to help bridge the digital divide and reduce health inequalities. To understand the current state, hot trends and future directions of digital healthcare research, this paper can serve as a reference. .

Visual analysis of shared medical appointments based on CiteSpace

Objective:Analyze the research hotspots and frontiers of shared outpatient service,and provide a reference for researchers in this field to carry out follow-up research.Methods:Search the Web of Science core collection database until 2022 and visually analyzekeywords in this field through CiteSpace5.8.R3 software,Results:A total of 261 iteratures were included.The research focuses mainly on advanced care planning,diabetes care,andgroup prenatal care,The research trend tends to be telemedicine and nursing provided by specialized nurses.Conclusion:Scholars can learn from the research hotspots of foreign shared medical appointments,pay attention to the research trend,expand its application scope in combination with China's national conditions,and further promote thedevelopment of shared medical appointments in China.

Visual Analysis of Knowledge Map of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Prevention and Treatment of Pulmonary Interstitial Fibrosis Based on CiteSpace

Objective: To analyze the relevant research literature on the prevention and treatment of pulmonary interstitial fibrosis with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), understand the current research status, hot spots and future development trend in this field, and provide basis and feasible suggestions for further research in this field. Methods: The journal literatures related to the prevention and treatment of pulmonary interstitial fibrosis with TCM in recent 20 years in CNKI database were searched and passed through CiteSpace 5.8.R3 generates the knowledge map of relevant literature authors, document issuing institutions and keywords, and makes visual analysis. Results: A total of 1,576 documents were included, and the annual number of documents showed a fluctuating upward trend, forming a relatively stable research team represented by authors such as LYU Xiaodong, PANG Lijian and LIU Chuang;According to the atlas of document issuing institutions, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its affiliated hospitals ranked first in the number of documents issued, and the cooperation between institutions is dominated by the University of traditional Chinese medicine and its affiliated hospitals;Keyword cluster analysis shows that a large number of studies have been carried out in the field of etiology and pathogenesis, TCM compound, clinic and experiment. Conclusion: The research on the prevention and treatment of pulmonary interstitial fibrosis with TCM has a high degree of attention, but the cooperation network between the research authors and institutions needs to be strengthened. The research on the pathogenesis and improving the quality of life of patients is the trend of development in the future.

Large-scale spatial data visualization method based on augmented reality

Background A task assigned to space exploration satellites involves detecting the physical environment within a certain space.However,space detection data are complex and abstract.These data are not conducive for researchers'visual perceptions of the evolution and interaction of events in the space environment.Methods A time-series dynamic data sampling method for large-scale space was proposed for sample detection data in space and time,and the corresponding relationships between data location features and other attribute features were established.A tone-mapping method based on statistical histogram equalization was proposed and applied to the final attribute feature data.The visualization process is optimized for rendering by merging materials,reducing the number of patches,and performing other operations.Results The results of sampling,feature extraction,and uniform visualization of the detection data of complex types,long duration spans,and uneven spatial distributions were obtained.The real-time visualization of large-scale spatial structures using augmented reality devices,particularly low-performance devices,was also investigated.Conclusions The proposed visualization system can reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of a large-scale space,express the structure and changes in the spatial environment using augmented reality,and assist in intuitively discovering spatial environmental events and evolutionary rules.

Coconut oil research:Past,present,and future directions

Coconut oil contains a rich amount of medium-chain fatty acids,including lauric acid,decanoic acid,and octanoic acid,as well as the corresponding medium-chain triglycerides.It possesses functional attributes such as facile digestion and absorption,as well as antibacterial and antioxidant properties.The study utilized the Citespace and VOSviewer visual analysis software to examine the quantity of published papers,authors,publishing institutions,research hotspots and frontiers of 3442 effective literatures on the theme of"coconut oil"in the Web of Science(WoS)Core Collection database.The research on coconut oil can be condensed into four primary sections:(1)investigation and utilization of physiochemical characteristics of coconut oil,(2)analysis of nutritional composition and study of the effectiveness of coconut oil,(3)identification of adulteration in coconut oil,(4)evaluation of the impact of coconut oil as a dietary supplement on animal metabolism.Additionally,research focal points have evolved in three distinct phases.Prior to 2008,numerous studies were conducted to investigate the precise fatty acid makeup of coconut oil and its potential for lowering cholesterol levels.From 2009 to 2016,significant emphasis was placed on examining the impact of coconut oil on methane production in ruminants.Between 2018 to 2023,the main focus will be on investigating how nanoparticles can alter the properties of coconut oil.In the future,the anticipated research areas of interest are expected to focus on the rapid detection method of coconut oil,the efficacy of coconut oil and the advancement of coconut resources.The objective of this review is to provide researchers with relevant information about coconut oil,aiming to foster the continued growth of the coconut oil industry.

Insights into stem cell therapy for diabetic retinopathy: a bibliometric and visual analysis

Stem cells have been confirmed to be involved in the occurrence and development of diabetic retinopathy;however,the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.In this study,we used Citespace software to visually analyze 552 articles exploring the stem cell-based treatment of diabetic retinopathy over the past 20 years,which were included in the Web of Science Core Collection.We found the following:(1)a co-citation analysis of the references cited by all 552 articles indicated 15 clusters.In cluster#0,representing the stem cell field,some highly cited landmark studies emerged between 2009–2013.For example,endothelial progenitor cells and diabetic retinopathy gradually received the full attention of scholars,in terms of their relationship and therapeutic prospects.Some researchers also verified the potential of adipose-derived stem cells to differentiate into stable retinal perivascular cells,using a variety of animal models of retinal vascular disease.All of these achievements provided references for the subsequent stem cell research.(2)An analysis of popular keywords among the 552 articles revealed that,during the past 20 years,a relative increase in basic research articles examining stem cells and endothelial progenitor cells for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy was observed.The contents of these articles primarily involved the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor,vascular regeneration,oxidative stress,and inflammatory response.(3)A burst analysis of keywords used in the 552 articles indicated that genetic and cytological research regarding the promotion of angiogenesis was an issue of concern from 2001 to 2012,including several studies addressing the expression of various growth factor genes;from 2014 to 2020,mouse models of diabetic retinopathy were recognized as mature animal models,and the most recent research has focused on macular degeneration,macular edema,neurodegeneration,and inflammatory changes in diabetic animal models.(4)Globally,the current authoritative studies have focused on basic research towards the stem cell treatment of diabetic retinopathy.Existing clinical studies are of low quality and have insufficient evidence levels,and their findings have not yet been widely accepted in clinical practice.Major challenges during stem cell transplantation remain,including stem cell heterogeneity,cell delivery,and the effective homing of stem cells to damaged tissue.However,clinical trials examining potential stem cell-based treatments of diabetic retinopathy,including the use of pluripotent stem cells,retinal pigment epithelial cells,bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells,and endothelial progenitor cells,are currently ongoing,and high-quality clinical evidence is likely to appear in the future,to promote clinical transformation.

Bibliometric profile of neurogenic bladder in the literature:a 20-year bibliometric analysis

Neurogenic bladder is a dysfunction of the lower urinary tract caused by nervous system disor- der. We investigated the trends in publication of articles under the topic ＂neurogenic bladder＂ using bibliometric analysis. Articles on neurogenic bladder, published between 1995 and 2014, were retrieved from the ISI Web of Science citation database. We analyzed the search results for authors, countries, institutions, journals, and top-cited papers. A total of 1,904 articles were re- trieved. There was a small increase in the number of articles on neurogenic bladder from 1995 （n = 43） to 2014 （n = 117）. The USA was the leading country in the total number of articles （n = 598）. However, the number of publications from China has rapidly increased, and China was ranked second in 2014. Emmanuel Chartier-Kastler （n = 65） was the most productive author, and University of Paris VI （Paris 6） （n = 61） was the most productive institution. The Journal of Urology published the greatest number of artides on this topic （n = 285）. Articles on neurogenic bladder were often published in a professional journal under the category Urology ＆ Nephrology, Neurosciences ＆ Neurology, or Rehabilitation. Visualization analysis based on co-citation networks was conducted using CiteSpace III. Visualization analysis revealed that the hot spots in neurogenic bladder were botulinum toxin-A, prazosin, bethanechol, and afferent pathways. These findings provide new insight into the publication trends and hot spots in neurogenic bladder.
