Bacteria contamination in Auricularia auricular culture bags reduces yield and increases the risk of food safety.In this study,5 species of bacteria,mainly gram-positive bacteria including three species of Bacillus sp...Bacteria contamination in Auricularia auricular culture bags reduces yield and increases the risk of food safety.In this study,5 species of bacteria,mainly gram-positive bacteria including three species of Bacillus spp.,Arthrobacter arilaitensis and Staphylococcus warneri,were isolated and identifi ed from bacteria-contaminated A.auricular culture bags.An in silico predicted antimicrobial peptide from theβ-1,3-glucan-binding protein sequence of Penaeus vannamei,designated Pv GBP2(FLKLGRKSRYGMLKL),was screened and its antibacterial effect and mechanism of action on the isolated Bacillus spp.explored.The minimal inhibitory concentrations(MIC)of Pv GBP2 on Bacillus spp.were 15.6–31.25μg/m L.Peptide Pv GBP2 could inhibit Bacillus subtilis in A.auricular culture bags to maintain growth and yield of A.auricular.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)revealed that Pv GBP2 kills bacteria by perforating the cell wall,destroying membrane integrity and resulting in the leakage of intracellular solutes.In addition,Pv GBP2 inhibits biofi lm formation by B.subtilis by 90.6%at 1×MIC.Thus,peptide Pv GBP2 could be potentially applied as an antibacterial agent to control bacterial infection of A.auricular cultivation and the spread of foodborne pathogens.展开更多

Currently, the institute uses adva...The Heilongjiang Soybean Research Institute not only focuses on improving yield and quality of soybean, but also exploring the development of various high quality soybean byproducts. Currently, the institute uses advanced extraction technology, the institute also produces new soybean chips and vitamin E from soybean pulp, soybean peptides, phosphatides and oligosaccharides. 120 broilers were randomly divided into 4 groups with 6 replicates in each group and 5 chicken in each replicate. The authors studied influence on performance and body quality of broiler chicken by using soybean phosphatides to take the place of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% corn of basal daily grain. Conclusion indicated that rates of broiler chicken weight gain were 2.1%, 4.4% and 8.7%, feed utilization rates raised 3.5%, 5.2% and 8.1%, costs reduced 2.3%, 3.5% and 5.8%, chest muscle rates improved 14.7%, 0.9% and -0.49%, belly fat rates improved 11.06%, 20.28% and 44.75% by using soybean phosphatides to take place of corn in daily grain after 42 days. More recently, the study is also involved in the research on improving the meat quality of chicken by adding extracted soybean peptide and phosphatides into feed. Furthermore, nearly 98% post-consumer waste oil with high acid value can be converted into biodiesel by using an effective supercritical methanol method.展开更多
This experiment aimed to examine the effect of periodical application of bioactive peptides derived from cottonseed(BPC)in comparison with using sub-therapeutic doses of lincomycin and the excessive in-clusion of vita...This experiment aimed to examine the effect of periodical application of bioactive peptides derived from cottonseed(BPC)in comparison with using sub-therapeutic doses of lincomycin and the excessive in-clusion of vitamin E on performance,immunity,total antioxidant capacity of serum and intestinal morphology of broiler chickens.A total of 240 one-d-old male broiler chicks with similar initial weight(Ross strain)were randomly assigned to 6 groups(8 chicks/pen):non-treated group(basal diet),basal diet supplemented with 2 mg/kg lincomycin,basal diet supplemented with 50 IU vitamin E,basal diet supplemented with 6 g BPC/kg in starter period,basal diet supplemented with 6 g BPC/kg in starter and grower periods and basal diet supplemented with 6 g BPC/kg throughout the whole experiment.The highest final body weight was obtained in the group supplemented with BPC in starter and grower periods.In the finisher phase,broilers fed the diet containing BPC in the starter period and in the whole trial had significantly(P<0.05)better feed conversion ratios(FCR).Jejunal villus height was significantly elevated in broilers supplemented with antibiotic(P<0.001),furthermore it tended to be greater in broilers fed BPC in the starter period.The jejunal villus height-to-crypt depth ratio was significantly(P<0.01)higher in broilers fed the diet containing antibiotic in comparison to other groups.Humoral immune response against Newcastle disease vaccine tended to be elevated in broilers fed the diet containing BPC in the whole trial(P>0.05).Broilers supplemented with BPC in starter and grower,and in the whole trial had significantly(P<0.05)higher antibody titers against sheep red blood cells(SRBC).The highest total antioxidant capacity was obtained in broilers supplemented with the excessive level of vitamin E,furthermore it tended to improve in broilers fed the diet containing BPC in the whole trial.In summary,the results of the study indicated that addition of BPC in broiler diets in the whole trial could improve FCR,immune responses and total antioxidant activity of serum,and BPC could be used in broiler diets as an alternative to in-feed antibiotics.展开更多
