Although the single-particle model enhanced with electrolyte dynamics(SPMe)is simplified from the pseudo-twodimensional(P2D)electrochemical model for lithium-ion batteries,it is difficult to solve the partial differential equations of solid–liquid phases in real-time applications.Moreover,working temperatures have a heavy impact on the battery behavior.Hence,a thermal-coupling SPMe is constructed.Herein,a lumped thermal model is established to estimate battery temperatures.The order of the SPMe model is reduced by using both transfer functions and truncation techniques and merged with Arrhenius equations for thermal effects.The polarization voltage drop is then modified through the use of test data because its original model is unreliable theoretically.Finally,the coupling-model parameters are extracted using genetic algorithms.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model produces average errors of about 42 mV under 15 constant current conditions and 15 mV under nine dynamic conditions,respectively.This new electrochemicalthermal coupling model is reliable and expected to be used for onboard applications. 展开更多

Hybrid circuit breaker (HCB) technology based on a vacuum interrupter and a SF6 interrupter in series has become a new research direction because of the low-carbon requirements for high voltage switches. The vacuum interrupter has an excellent ability to deal with the steep rising part of the transient recovery voltage (TRV), while the SF6 interrupter can withstand the peak part of the voltage easily. An HCB can take advantage of the interrupters in the current interruption process. In this study, an HCB model based on the vacuum ion diffusion equations, ion density equation, and modified Cassie-Mayr arc equation is explored. A simulation platform is constructed by using a set of software called the alternative transient program (ATP). An HCB prototype is also designed, and the short circuit current is interrupted by the HCB under different action sequences of contacts. The voltage distribution of the HCB is analyzed through simulations and tests. The results demonstrate that if the vacuum interrupter withstands the initial TRV and interrupts the post-arc current first, then the recovery speed of the dielectric strength of the SF6 interrupter will be fast. The voltage distribution between two interrupters is determined by their post-arc resistance, which happens after current-zero, and subsequently, it is determined by the capacitive impedance after the post-arc current decays to zero. 展开更多

Transient enclosure voltage(TEV),which is a phenomenon induced by the inner dielectric breakdown of SF_6 during disconnector operations in a gas-insulated switchgear(GIS),may cause issues relating to shock hazard and electromagnetic interference to secondary equipment.This is a critical factor regarding the electromagnetic compatibility of ultra-high-voltage(UHV)substations.In this paper,the statistical characteristics of TEV at UHV level are collected from field experiments,and are analyzed and compared to those from a repeated strike process.The TEV waveforms during disconnector operations are recorded by a self-developed measurement system first.Then,statistical characteristics,such as the pulse number,duration of pulses,frequency components,magnitude and single pulse duration,are extracted.The transmission line theory is introduced to analyze the TEV and is validated by the experimental results.Finally,the relationship between the TEV and the repeated strike process is analyzed.This proves that the pulse voltage of the TEV is proportional to the corresponding breakdown voltage.The results contribute to the definition of the standard testing waveform of the TEV,and can aid the protection of electronic devices in substations by minimizing the threat of this phenomenon. 展开更多

In this paper, such a complicated system was modeled with a reasonably simplified circuit network with lumped parameters. Then, a detailed circuit analysis was conducted to evaluate the possible voltage transient in the coil circuit. As a result, an appropriate (minimum) snubber capacitance for the Switching Network Unit, which is a fast high voltage generation circuit in JT-60SA, was obtained. 展开更多

The main purpose of the electrical power system is to transport and distribute energy generated by the central power plants in a safe and reliable manner to the customer premises. Most of the electrical equipment is exposed within the open which suggests they can be vulnerable to lightning strikes, road dwindling, windstorms, and a few engineering activities with the potential of causing different degrees of damage to the electrical equipment. One of the ways to guard the equipment is to deploy switching devices. However, the operations of most of these switching devices produce oscillatory transient in the electrical transmission and distribution systems which result in voltage, current, and frequency fluctuations in the load. This paper investigates the effect of switching devices on power quality and proposes a positive sequence voltage power transient suppression technique that can spontaneously improve the distorted voltage at the instant of capacitor switching using the capacitor line model as a case study. MATLAB/Simulink software was utilized for the analysis on an electrical network model with bus voltages of 69 kV/12.47 kV and 480 V. The results showed that, during switching operations, the positive sequence voltage power detector block produces ripple-free accurate results. 展开更多

In order to solve the problems of TEV(transient earth voltage) utilization,such as single judgment criterion and low reliability of PD detection in HV switchboard,this paper discussed the method on how to make a better utilization of TEV in PD detection of metal-enclosed switchgears.Through discussing the relationship among the temporal phase,number of pulses and threshold of measuring and extracting the features corresponding to different typical defects,test results showed that the needle discharge distributed in 0°~90°and 200°~340°with low appearance probability above high measurement threshold;internal discharge distributed in 0°~90°and 270°~315°,and showed a similar decreasing trend under increasing of the threshold in the two regions;suspended discharge distributed in 0°~135°and 180°~315°where the PD in negative half periods decreased more seriously than those in positive half with increasing threshold.These results followed the doctrine of consistency with the conclusions that were obtained by using the traditional pulse current method.The possibility of using TEV method to make identification of PD defects has been proved to prepare for further research. 展开更多

Hybrid high-voltage direct current(HVDC)transmission has the characteristic of long transmission distance,complex corridor environment,and rapid fault evolution of direct current(DC)lines.As high fault current can easily cause irreversible damage to power devices,rapid and reliable line protection and isolation are necessary to improve the security and reliability of hybrid HVDC transmission system.To address such requirement,this paper proposes a single-ended protection method based on transient voltage frequency band characteristics.First,the frequency characteristics of the smoothing reactor,DC filter,and DC line are analyzed,and the characteristic frequency band is defined.A fault criterion is then constructed based on the voltage characteristic frequency band energy,and faulty pole selection is performed according to the fault voltage characteristic frequency band energy ratio.The proposed protection method is verified by simulation,and the results show that it can rapidly and reliably identify internal and external faults,accurately select faulty poles without data communication synchronization,and has good fault-resist-ance and anti-interference performance. 展开更多

Carbon dots(CDs),as a unique zero-dimensional member of carbon materials,have attracted numerous attentions for their potential applications in optoelectronic,biological,and energy related fields.Recently,CDs as catalysts for energy conversion reactions under multi-physical conditions such as light and/or electricity have grown into a research frontier due to their advantages of high visible light utilization,fast migration of charge carriers,efficient surface redox reactions and good electrical conductivity.In this review,we summarize the fabrication methods of CDs and corresponding CD nanocomposites,including the strategies of surface modification and heteroatom doping.The properties of CDs that concerned to the photo-and electro-catalysis are highlighted and detailed corresponding applications are listed.More importantly,as new non-contact detection technologies,transient photo-induced voltage/current have been developed to detect and study the charge transfer kinetics,which can sensitively reflect the complex electron separation and transfer behavior in photo-/electro-catalysts.The development and application of the techniques are reviewed.Finally,we discuss and outline the major challenges and opportunities for future CD-based catalysts,and the needs and expectations for the development of novel characterization technologies. 展开更多

The fast-response feature from a superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES)device is favored for suppressing instantaneous voltage and power fluctuations,but the SMES coil is much more expensive than a conventional battery energy storage device.In order to improve the energy utilization rate and reduce the energy storage cost under multiple-line power distribution conditions,this paper investigates a new interline DC dynamic voltage restorer(IDC-DVR)scheme with one SMES coil shared among multiple compensating circuits.In this new concept,an improved current-voltage(I/V)chopper assembly,which has a series of input/output power ports,is introduced to connect the single SMES coil with multiple power lines,and thereby satisfy the independent energy exchange requirements of any line to be compensated.Specifically,if two or more power lines have simultaneous compensating demands,the SMES coil can be selectively controlled to compensate the preferable line according to the priority order of the line.The feasibility of the proposed scheme is technically verified to maintain the transient voltage stability in multiple-line voltage swell and sag cases caused by either output voltage fluctuations from external power sources or power demand fluctuations from local sensitive loads.The simulation results provide a technical basis to develop a cost-effective SMES-based IDC-DVR for use in various DC distribution networks. 展开更多

In this work,a directional relaying algorithm is proposed for transmission line to prevent relay maloperation during coupling capacitor voltage transformer(CCVT)subsidence transient.The effect of CCVT subsidence transient during single-pole-tripping condition is highlighted in this paper.The proposed method which is based on phase angle difference of post fault and prefault positive sequence current can help the directional relay to take accurate decision during erroneous CCVT secondary response.The available CCVT model in PSCAD is not able to generate significant subsidence transient in the secondary side.So,a new CCVT model is developed in EMTDC/PSCAD domain for transient response analysis and to check the relay operation.Next,the performance of different voltage and current information based directional relaying techniques have been analyzed and compared with the proposed method.The results are evaluated for different system and fault conditions.Results demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method. 展开更多
