Skin-core structure, cross-sectional morphology, crystallinity, crystal orientation, crystal morphology and molecular orientation were evaluated by using polarized optical microscope, differential scanning calorimeter, X-ray spectroscopic analyzer and laser Raman spectroscopy, respectively, while the shear strength distribution was investigated using a micro cutting method called SAICAS (Surface And Interfacial Cutting Analysis System). The results indicated that the difference of molecular weight and molecular weight distribution showed own skin layer thickness. Especially, high molecular weight sample showed thicker layer of the lamellar orientation and molecular orientation than low molecular weight sample. In addition, wide molecular distribution sample showed large crystal orientation layer.展开更多
In this letter we present a novel wall shear stress measurement technique for a turbulent boundary layer using sandwiched hot-film sensors. Under certain conditions, satisfactory results can be obtained using only the...In this letter we present a novel wall shear stress measurement technique for a turbulent boundary layer using sandwiched hot-film sensors. Under certain conditions, satisfactory results can be obtained using only the heat generated by one of the hot-film and a calibration of the sensors is not required. Two thin Nickel films with the same size were used in this study, separated by an electrical insulating layer. The upper film served as a sensor and the bottom one served as a guard heater. The two Nickel films were operated at a same temperature, so that the Joule heat flux generated by the sensor film transferred to the air with a minimum loss or gain depending on the uncertainties in the film temperature measurements. Analytical solution of the shear stress based on the aforementioned heat flux was obtained. The preliminary results were promising and the estimated wall shear stresses agreed reasonablywell with the directly measured values (with errors less than 20%) in a fully developed turbulent pipe flow. The proposed technique can be improved to further increase precisions.展开更多
Squamous cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer with abnormal proliferation of keratinocytes. Its incidence reaches approximately 20% of cases of non-melanoma skin cancer, which has increased in recent decades due to...Squamous cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer with abnormal proliferation of keratinocytes. Its incidence reaches approximately 20% of cases of non-melanoma skin cancer, which has increased in recent decades due to growth in life expectancy, increased sun exposure, the use of tanning beds and improved detection of this type of tumors. We present a patient who was diagnosed with a squamous cell skin carcinoma in the chest wall, treated initially with surgical resection. A few years recurred in the same place, so the patient received radiotherapy with poor response. Ultimately a new surgical approach was performed with a wide margin resection by a multidisciplinary surgical team. Multidisciplinary management in this type of procedure is important so that the long-term result is optimal for the patient.展开更多
