Nowadays, with regard to environmental issues, proper operation of wastewater treatment plants is of particular importance that in the case of inappropriate utilization, they will cause serious problems. Processes that exist in environmental systems and environmental engineers are dealing with them mostly have two major characteristics: they are dependent on many variables;and there are complex relationships between its components which make them very difficult to analyze. Being familiar with characteristics of industrial town effluents from various wastewater treatment units, which have high qualitative and quantitative variations and more uncertainties compared to urban wastewaters, plays very effective role in governing them. In order to achieve a better and efficient control over the operation of an industrial wastewater treatment plant, powerful mathematical tool can be used that is based on recorded data from some basic parameters of wastewater during a period of treatment plant operation. In this study, the multilayer perceptron (MLP) feed forward neural network with a hidden layer and stop training method was used to predict quality parameters of the industrial effluent. Data of this study are related to the Fajr Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Mahshahr—Iran that qualitative and quantitative characteristics of its units were used for training, calibration and evaluation of the neural model. Also, Principal Component Analysis technique was applied to modify and improve performance of generated models of neural networks. The results of this model showed good accuracy of the model in estimating qualitative pro- file of wastewater. This model facilitates evaluating the performance of each treatment plant units through comparing the results of prediction model with the standard amount of output. 展开更多

This paper studies the application of renewable energy sources in wastewater treatment plants to achieve self-sustain- ability of power. The data of wastewater treatment plant in the rural city of Toukh-EGYPT are presented as a case-study. The primary objective is to provide an entirely renewable standalone power system, which satisfies lowest possible emissions with the minimum lifecycle cost. Mass balance principle is applied on the biodegradable components in the wastewater to evaluate the volume of digester gas that is produced from sludge through anaerobic digestion process. Using digester gas as a fuel lead to study combined-heat-and-power technologies, where fuel cell is selected in order to abide by the low emissions constraint. The study assessed the electrical power obtained from fuel cell and the utilization of the exhausted heat energy for additional electrical power production using a micro-turbine. After covering the major part of load demand, the use of other renewable energy sources was studied. The strength of both solar and wind energy was determined by the case-study location. Hybrid optimization model for electric renewable (HOMER) software was used to simulate the hybrid system composed of combined-heat-and-power units, wind turbines and photovoltaic systems. Simulation results gave the best system configuration and optimum size of each component beside the detailed electrical and cost analysis of the model. 展开更多

Pytoremediation of fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics from waste water

The study involved selection of wetland plant species hyper efficient in removing fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics so that they can be used in a constructed wetland system patented by NEERI, India (European Patent Office (EPO) Pub. No.: WO2004087584) or any other constructed wetland. Phyto removal of these antibiotics at such high concentrations without any toxic effect on the plant species is very useful as incomplete removal of certain antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin, and Ofloxacin from waste waters is of concern due to their health effects if they do persist in finished waters even at ng/l levels. Five different wetland plant species which were also tested for their efficiency to treat municipal wastewater were used to test their efficiency to scavenge commonly used fluoroquinolone antibiotics (which are not degraded easily) namely Ciprofloxacin, Gemifloxacin mesylate, Ofloxacin and Gatifloxacin from aqueous medium (Hoagland-Arnon solution). EC double beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer was used to obtain lambda max of Ciprofloxacin, Gemifloxacin mesylate, Ofloxacin and Gatifloxacin in Hoagland-Arnon solution. The most efficient plant species for each antibiotic were selected and tested again for confirmation of antibiotic removal efficiency at a high concentration of 50 mg/l of each antibiotic. Taxodium distichum was found to be the most suitable for the removal of Ofloxacin, Gatifloxacin and Ciprofloxacin showing maximum removal of 32 mg/l (on 6th day), 21 mg/l (on 8th day), 32 mg/l (on 9th day), respectively and Canna indica was found to be the most suitable for removal of Gemifloxacin mesylate showing maximum removal of 38 mg/l (on 8th day). 展开更多

疫情影响下长沙市某污水处理厂水量水质统计分析

为保障城市污水处理厂的安全运行和达标排放,文中选取长沙市某污水处理厂近6年进水水量和进出水水质数据进行统计和分析。结果表明:该污水处理厂的日均进水量在2018年—2023年3月近6年期间,于2020年达到最低,主要是受2020年年初新冠疫... 为保障城市污水处理厂的安全运行和达标排放,文中选取长沙市某污水处理厂近6年进水水量和进出水水质数据进行统计和分析。结果表明:该污水处理厂的日均进水量在2018年—2023年3月近6年期间,于2020年达到最低,主要是受2020年年初新冠疫情所采取的封控措施影响;当年的进水水质受疫情和降雨量的双重影响,除2022年外,2020年BOD_(5)、COD_(Cr)和SS浓度较其他年份均大幅下降,而氨氮、TN和TP浓度降低相对较小。2022年进水BOD_(5)和SS低于其他年份可能是受2022年相对严重的疫情和干旱天气的影响,管道中污染物沉积进行厌氧水解导致。以疫情初始的2020年数据为研究对象,该年内各水质指标的进水浓度波动范围较大,总体上在冬季相对较高,在1月底—2月底和夏季偏低。实测出水水质浓度均达到设计出水水质标准,其中SS的去除率最高,而TN的去除率最低,改良式序列间歇反应器(MSBR)能够去除大部分的TN和氨氮。进水BOD_(5)/COD_(Cr)、BOD_(5)/TN和BOD_(5)/TP的平均值分别为0.58、4.95和46.34,1月底—2月底受疫情影响出现短暂的急剧变化,但总体进水可生化性较好、碳源充足,可采用生物除磷工艺。在碳源不足时,为保证出水达标,可考虑化学辅助除磷。研究结果可为疫情影响下类似污水处理厂的设计和运行提供参考。 展开更多

Municipal wastewater consists of a downstream collection of flushed sewage(without solid waste),other household runoffs,industrial runoffs,hospital runoffs and agricultural runoffs through an underground pipe before treatment.A runoff collection system called the wastewater treatment plant(WWTPs)treats such wastewater before release into environment following specific regulatory standards.This years-long practice has been improved upon by adding end-to-end pipe technologies with a view to enhancing the quality of effluent released.However,effluents released into the environment from design/application of WWTPs appear to contain emerging contaminants of both biotic and abiotic nature.The observation of chemical contaminants,antibiotic resistant bacteria(ARB),antibiotic resistant genes(ARGs)and diverse pathogenic bacteria genera in wastewater works release further affirm the abundance of such emerging contaminants.As a result,the government and water regulatory organizations in various part of the world are considering the removal of water reuse act from recycling policy/process.Current global debate is focused on questions about sustenance of any improved additional treatment level;effect of energy consumption by added treatment stage and its impact on the environmental wellness as contaminants borne wastewater is consistently released.Technological advancement/research suggests implementation of newer innovative infrastructural systems(NIIS)such as Mobbing Bed Biofilm Rector(MBBR),for wastewater effluent management which involve addition of newer wastewater treatment stages.This review addressed current pitfalls including wastewater microbiota of high epidemiological/public health relevance and affirms the need for such improvement which requires modification of ongoing institutional framework with a view to encourage implementation of NIIS for an improved effluent release.Exploiting the advances of microbial biofilming and the potentials of microbial biofueling as discussed in various section promises a future of robust environmental system,stable operational standard,release of quality effluent and sustainable management of wastewater works.Application of the aforementioned would enhance qualityWWTPs release and in-defacto reduces spread of ARB/ARGs as well as impacts both the environment wellness and public health. 展开更多

In Wuxi Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Anaerobic, anoxic and oxic (A2/O) process was employed to remove the nitrogen and phosphorus, which exhibited the positive results of the high removal efficiency for phosphorus with a range of 67.7% to 89.9% and an average value of 78.0. The effluent of phosphorus met the national discharge standard. The removal of TN was effected by both BOD variation of influent and wastewater temperature. TN removal was in the range of 28.5% to 55.8% with an average value of 39.4%. The energy cost was 0.15 kWh(m3d)-1 or 1.35 kWh(kgBOD@d)-1. The annual average sludge production was 46.3 m3d-1, the annual average dosage for the dewatering was 40 kg d-1 . 展开更多

This paper presents a comprehensive study of spatial and temporal patterns of water chemistry (1995-2008) in the Yesilirmak River catchment in Northern Turkey. Biological oxygen demand (BOD), dissolved oxygen (DO) and nutrient concentrations (nitrogen and phosphorus) are variable across the catchment because the upland areas are relatively undisturbed, and the lower catchment is dominated by urban, industrial and agricultural inputs. Seasonally, high nutrient concentrations occur in winter possibly due to flushing from the soil zone. Low summer flow and reduced dilution lead to high orthophosphate concentrations. However, denitrification seems to be more significant than dilution processes and this generates low nitrate concentrations in summer. Nutrient levels since 1995 do not show a significant upward trend. The current water quality status indicates that the river system is in poor condition. The majority of sites fall in the Turkish water classification class II-III and more than half fail the EU standards because of high nutrient concentrations. In order to improve the status of water quality to achieve good chemical and ecological status, there is clearly a need to improve pollution control within the river system by installing waste water treatment plants, while keeping the agricultural pollution to a minimum in the system. 展开更多

为改善水环境、保护水资源,我国部分地区陆续提出了“准Ⅳ类”(COD_(Cr)、氨氮、TP等达到地表水Ⅳ类标准,TN一般由一级A标准的15 mg/L提高至10 mg/L)、“准Ⅲ类”等高于国家标准的污水处理厂排放标准,这对污水处理工艺提出了更高的要求... 为改善水环境、保护水资源,我国部分地区陆续提出了“准Ⅳ类”(COD_(Cr)、氨氮、TP等达到地表水Ⅳ类标准,TN一般由一级A标准的15 mg/L提高至10 mg/L)、“准Ⅲ类”等高于国家标准的污水处理厂排放标准,这对污水处理工艺提出了更高的要求。在梳理各地现行高排放标准、分析现有工程实例的基础上,提出执行高排放标准时,仍应采用“预处理+生物处理+深度处理”为主的工艺技术路线。其中生物处理可采用脱氮除磷效率更高的优化、改良或组合工艺,深度处理在常规“混凝、沉淀、过滤”的基础上,可选用臭氧氧化、活性炭吸附、反硝化生物滤池、膜分离等有针对性的强化工艺。确定污水处理排放标准时,应综合考虑受纳水体环境容量和建设运行成本,系统考虑水环境治理,不能仅将重点放在污水处理厂提标上。 展开更多

江苏某市由于区域污染物排放总量的限制,当污水排放量增长后需降低污染物的排放浓度,该市某污水厂因此要进行提标改造,建设规模为1.7×10^(5)m^(3)/d,出水水质由一级A提高至地表“类Ⅲ类水标准”。文中总结了该污水厂提标的设计经验... 江苏某市由于区域污染物排放总量的限制,当污水排放量增长后需降低污染物的排放浓度,该市某污水厂因此要进行提标改造,建设规模为1.7×10^(5)m^(3)/d,出水水质由一级A提高至地表“类Ⅲ类水标准”。文中总结了该污水厂提标的设计经验,设计采用“硝化+反硝化+滤布过滤+臭氧-生物活性炭(O_(3)-BAC)+超滤”处理工艺,脱氮处理构筑物采用曝气生物滤池,抗冲击负荷强,运行管理简单,滤池平均36~48 h反冲洗一次,硝化滤池各级出水设置导流板后,反硝化滤池进水溶解氧质量浓度可稳定在4~6 mg/L。单位用地面积为0.15 m^(2)/(m^(3)·d^(-1))。根据2020年—2021年的运行数据,当进水COD_(Cr)、BOD5、SS、氨氮、TN、TP质量浓度为12~26、3.8~7.1、1~6、0.22~2.22、5.34~11.60、0.15~0.40 mg/L时,各污染物平均去除率分别为29%、23%、44%、57%、52%、68%,通过该工艺处理后出水水质稳定达标,为未来污水厂更严格的排放标准提供了升级提标工艺思路和经验借鉴。 展开更多

选取上海市中心城区白龙港片区为研究对象,通过收集该片区末端污水处理厂2021年实际运行数据,系统分析了该片区各污染物的水质特征、概率分布和相关关系,以及不同特征天各污染物的水质特征和营养比例之间的关系。结果表明,该片区2021年... 选取上海市中心城区白龙港片区为研究对象,通过收集该片区末端污水处理厂2021年实际运行数据,系统分析了该片区各污染物的水质特征、概率分布和相关关系,以及不同特征天各污染物的水质特征和营养比例之间的关系。结果表明,该片区2021年实际进水水质低于设计值,建议进一步对白龙港片区开展管网提质增效,逐步提高片区污水厂进水浓度;该片区旱天进水各污染物浓度均值高于雨天,雨季6月—9月进水浓度基本低于其他月份;各指标周末和非周末进水浓度整体偏差较小,各指标节假日进水浓度均低于非节假日进水浓度。通过对该年度的数据进行统计分析,研究结果对指导片区污水处理厂精细化运行和工艺优化调度具有积极意义。 展开更多
