These parameters included temperature, pH, the saturated ratio by dissolved oxygen (%sat), biological oxygen demand (BOD5), nitrate (NO3?1), phosphate (PO4?3), fecal coliform (FC) turbidity and total dissolved solids (TDS), and these parameters were used for calculating overall water quality index in the Tigris River at study area. The results showed high values of turbidity and TDS, as well as high count of FC in all study stations, while other studied parameters were within permissible limit defined by world health organization and Iraqi criteria. The results of the overall water quality index indicated that the Tigris River was in class medium, therefore the Tigris River water in study area is relatively not safe for direct domestic use in all seasons.展开更多

The basic principle of the PCA is that the pairs of parameters which are highly correlated and linear with each other would contribute the same information to an assessment and one of them should be eliminated. The method of the PCA is that a correlation relationship among candidate parameters is examined before the FSE. If there is an apparent nonlinear or curvilinear relationship between two parameters, then both will be retained; if the correlation is significant (p<0.01), and the scatter plot suggests a linear relationship, then one of them will be deleted. However, which one will be deleted? For solving this problem, a sensitivity test was conducted and the higher sensitivity parameters remained. The results indicate that the original data should be preprocessed through the PCA for redundancy and variability. The study shows that introducing the PCA into the FSE can simplify the FSE calculation process greatly, while the results have not been changed much.展开更多

Artificial intelligence models are respected methods for modeling water quality. The evolutionary algorithm (EA) is a new technique for improving the performance of artificial intelligence models such as the adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and artificial neural networks (ANN). Attempts have been made to make the models more suitable and accurate with the replacement of other training methods that do not suffer from some shortcomings, including a tendency to being trapped in local optima or voluminous computations. This study investigated the applicability of ANFIS with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and ant colony optimization for continuous domains (ACOR) in estimating water quality parameters at three stations along the Zayandehrood River, in Iran. The ANFIS-PSO and ANFIS-ACOR methods were also compared with the classic ANFIS method, which uses least squares and gradient descent as training algorithms. The estimated water quality parameters in this study were electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), the sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), carbonate hardness (CH), and total hardness (TH). Correlation analysis was performed using SPSS software to determine the optimal inputs to the models. The analysis showed that ANFIS-PSO was the better model compared with ANFIS-ACOR. It is noteworthy that EA models can improve ANFIS' performance at all three stations for different water quality parameters.展开更多

However, fewer categories of water quality parameters can be monitored by remote sensing technology than the 35 specified in GB3097-1997 Marine Water Quality Standard. Therefore, we considered which parameters must be selected by remote sensing and how to model for water quality evaluation using the finite parameters. In this paper, focused on Leizhou Peninsula nearshore waters, we found N, P, COD, PH and DO to be the dominant parameters of water quality by analyzing measured data. Then, mathematical statistics was used to determine that the relationship among the five parameters was COD〉DO〉P〉N〉pH. Finally, five-parameter, fourparameter and three-parameter water quality evaluation models were established and compared. The results showed that COD, DO, P and N were the necessary parameters for remote sensing evaluation of the Leizhou Peninsula nearshore water quality, and the optimal comprehensive water quality evaluation model was the four- parameter model. This work may serve as a reference for monitoring the quality of other marine waters by remote sensing.展开更多

The results show that the flow of the liquid steel becomes more active and the level fluctuation in the mould becomes bigger when the casting speed increases from 1.0 m/min to 1.2 m/min. So the control of slag entrapment in the mould becomes more difficult. When the depth of the nozzle increases from 30mm to 42. 5mm and the angle increases from 15~ downward to 30° downward, the level fluctuation in the mould becomes smaller and the slag entrapment in the mould also decreases. But the impact depth increases and the circumfluence vortex center moves downward, which is unfavorable for the flotation of gas bubbles and inclusions. Furthermore, the impact depth with side holes a ( 16.3 × 20mm2 ) and b ( 10 × 10 mm2 ) is almost equal, but a smaller level fluctuation can be obtained with side hole a.展开更多

Nine (09) environmental variables were monitored at four surface stations in the estuary for two seasonal cycles. The fieldwork was conducted from 2018 to 2019 during high tide and low <span style="letter-spacing:0.1pt;">tide for each survey. In situ physical parameters were measured for a total of</span> 64 samples (32 samples for each tide). The laboratory works consisted of some physicochemical analyses and processing of these data by descriptive <span style="letter-spacing:0.1pt;">and multidimensional statistical analyses. Temperature, suspended particle</span> matter, nitrate, nitrite and phosphate change significantly in the estuary with season (<i>p</i> < 0.05), while salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, and ammonium do not vary significantly with season (<i>p</i> > 0.05). Principal Component analysis found temperature, salinity, pH, ammonium to be the most important parameters contributing to the fluctuations of surface water quality in the Nyong estuary during the dry seasons whereas suspended particle matter, nitrate, and phosphate are the most important parameters contributing to the fluctuation of surface water quality in the Nyong estuary during the rainy seasons. Based on spatial variation, the Principal Component analysis found that, suspended particle matter, nitrate and phosphate contribute to the fluctuation of surface water quality parameters upstream of the estuary while downstream salinity, pH, and ammonium contribute the most to the fluctuation of surface water quality. This study shows us the usefulness of multivariate statistical techniques used in assessing water quality data sets that would help us in un<span style="letter-spacing:0.1pt;">derstanding seasonal and spatial variations of water quality parameters to</span> manage estuarine systems.展开更多

Classical 3 D/4 D variational merging is based on the theory that error follows Gaussian distribution. It involves the solution of the objective functional gradient in minimization iteration, which requires the data to have continuity and differentiability. Classic 3 D/4 D-dimensional variational merging method was extended, and L1 norm was used as the constraint coupling to the classical variational merged model. Experiment was carried out by using linear advection-diffusion equation as four-dimensional prediction model, and parameter optimization of this method is discussed. Considering the strong temporal and spatial variation of water vapor, this method is further applied to the precipitable water vapor( PWV) merging by calculating reanalysis data and GNSS retrieval.Parameters were adjusted gradually to analyze the influence of background field on the merging result, and the experiment results show that the mathematical algorithm adopted in this paper is feasible.展开更多

To overcome the difficulty of parameter identification caused by the measurement’s uncertainty, a new method which is the coupling of Finite Difference Method and Markov Chain Monte Carlo is developed to identify the parameters of water quality model in this paper. Taking a certain long distance open channel as an example, the effects to the results of parameters identification with different noise are discussed under steady and un-steady non-uniform flow scenarios. And also this proposed method is compared with finite difference method and Nelder Mead Simplex. The results show that it can give better results by the new method. It has good noise resistance and provides a new way to identify water quality model parameters.展开更多

文摘This study aimed at using nine ecological parameters in evaluating the quality of the Tigris River for public usage, by choosing five sampling sites along the river in Baghdad area. The results of the overall water quality index indicated that the Tigris River was in class medium, therefore the Tigris River water in study area is relatively not safe for direct domestic use in all seasons.

文摘In order to improve the effectiveness of Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation (FSE) models, a Parameter Correlation Analysis (PCA) was introduced into the FSE and a case study was carried out in the Naoli River in the Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China. The study shows that introducing the PCA into the FSE can simplify the FSE calculation process greatly, while the results have not been changed much.
文摘Water quality is always one of the most important factors in human health. It is noteworthy that EA models can improve ANFIS' performance at all three stations for different water quality parameters.

文摘Using remote sensing technology for water quality evaluation is an inevitable trend in marine environmental monitoring. This work may serve as a reference for monitoring the quality of other marine waters by remote sensing.

文摘Determining the mechanical properties of frozen rock is highly important in cold-area engineering. These properties are essentially correlated with the content of liquid water remaining in frozen rock. Therefore, accurate determination of unfrozen water content could allow rapid evaluation of mechanical properties of frozen rock. This paper investigates the hysteresis characteristics of ultrasonic waves applied to sandstone(in terms of the parameters of P-wave velocity, amplitude, dominant frequency and quality factor Q)and their relationships with unfrozen water content during the freeze-thaw process.Their correlations are analysed in terms of their potential for use as indicators of freezing state and unfrozen water content. The results show that:(1)During a freeze-thaw cycle, the ultrasonic parameters and unfrozen water content of sandstone have significant hysteresis with changes in temperature.(2)There are three clear stages of change during freezing:supercooled stage(0℃to-2℃),rapid freezing stage(-2℃to-3℃),and stable freezing stage(-3℃to-20℃).The changes in unfrozen water content and ultrasonic parameters with freezing temperature are inverse.(3)During a single freeze-thaw cycle, the ultrasonic parameters of sandstone are significantly correlated with its unfrozen water content, and this correlation is affected by the pore structure. For sandstones with mesopores greater than 50%,there are inflection points in the curves of ultrasonic parameters vs.unfrozen water content at-3℃during freezing and at-1℃during thawing. It was found that thermal deformation of the mineral-grain skeleton and variations in the phase composition of pore water change the propagation path of ultrasonic waves. The inflection point in the curve of dominant frequency vs.temperature clearly marks the end of the rapid freezing stage of pore water,in which more than 70%of the pore water freezes.Consequently, the dominant frequency can be used as an index to conveniently estimate the unfrozen water content of frozen rock and, hence, its mechanical properties.
文摘The mechanism of slag entrapment in the mould was analyzed and the water modeling experiment was done according to the industrial manufacturing. Furthermore, the impact depth with side holes a ( 16.3 × 20mm2 ) and b ( 10 × 10 mm2 ) is almost equal, but a smaller level fluctuation can be obtained with side hole a.
文摘To evaluate the actual status of water quality and conclude on the mains source of pollution in the Nyong estuary River, seasonal and spatial variation of water quality parameters was interpreted by multivariate statistical techniques (Principal Component analysis). This study shows us the usefulness of multivariate statistical techniques used in assessing water quality data sets that would help us in un<span style="letter-spacing:0.1pt;">derstanding seasonal and spatial variations of water quality parameters to</span> manage estuarine systems.

文摘Water photoacoustic microscopy(PAM)enables water absorption contrast mapping in deep biological tissue, which further allows a more detailed architecture analysis and facilitates a better understanding of metabolic and pathophysiological pathways. The strongest absorption peak of water in the near-infrared region occurs at 1930 nm,where the first overtone of the O-H bond lies. However, general light sources operating in this band hitherto still suffer from low optical signal-to-noise ratio and suboptimal pulse widths for photoacoustic signal generation. These lead to not only PAM contrast deterioration but also a high risk of sample photodamage.Consequently,we developed a hybrid optical parametrically-oscillating emitter(HOPE)source for an improved water PAM image contrast, leading to noninvasive and safer bioimaging applications. Our proposed source generates 1930 nm laser pulses with high spectral purity at a repetition rate of 187.5 kHz.The pulse width is flexibly tunable from 4 to 15 ns,and the maximum pulse energy is 700 nJ with a power stability of 1.79%.Leveraging these advancements,we also demonstrated high-contrast water PAM in multifaceted application scenarios, including tracking the dynamic of water distribution in a zebrafish embryo, visualizing the water content of a murine tumor xenograft, and mapping the fluid distribution in an edema mouse ear model. Finally,we showcased 1750-nm/1930-nm dual-color PAM for quantitative imaging of lipid and water distributions with reduced cross talk and imaging artifacts.Given all these results,we believe that our HOPE source can heighten water PAM’s relevance in both biological research and clinical diagnostics.

文摘The paper discusses the core parameters of the 3 D and 4 D variational merging based on L1 norm regularization, namely optimization characteristic correlation length of background error covariance matrix and regularization parameter. Considering the strong temporal and spatial variation of water vapor, this method is further applied to the precipitable water vapor( PWV) merging by calculating reanalysis data and GNSS retrieval.Parameters were adjusted gradually to analyze the influence of background field on the merging result, and the experiment results show that the mathematical algorithm adopted in this paper is feasible.
文摘Identification results of water quality model parameter directly affect the accuracy of water quality numerical simulation. It has good noise resistance and provides a new way to identify water quality model parameters.
